If you are including his Mooshie longbow and ranger skills, then the time setting would be some time after the novel Sojourn. Drizzt spent time with Mooshie (1339-1340 DR) about 10.5 years after, and acquired Mooshie's nonmagical bow (1340 DR) 11 years after, he fled from his homeland of Menzoberranzan (1329 DR). His magical drow scimitars failed at the beginning of Sojourn, and then he took on two nonmagical scimitars from Mooshie. Those each faded away over time, and he nabbed Icingdeath in The Crystal Shard (mid-1355 DR), and Twinkle in The Halfling's Gem (late in 1356 DR). He lost his Mooshie longbow in a cave-in in mid-1356 DR in Streams of Silver. Catti-brie picked up the magical elven longbow Taulmaril and the Quiver of Anariel with unending alchemical silver lightning arrows of force around the same time, and Drizzt inherited the bow from her in 1376 DR (The Pirate King). He had a drow multicolored piwafwi until the start of Sojourn, then a tattered gnoll cloak and fine human cloak later in Sojourn. In The Crystal Shard, he had a brown cloak when the terrain was brown, and a pale gray cloak when the terrain was snowy (according to Sea of Swords). In the deserts of Calimshan, he wore a black cloak. The classic green cloak did not appear until spring of 1358 DR in The Legacy, where he was operating in a temperate forested clime. (Double-check Hall of Heroes.) The bracers didn't come in until the novel Siege of Darkness (1358 DR). The first we were told of his mithral chainmail shirt was in The Legacy (1358 DR), but he may have actually received it from the Clan Battlehammer armorer Buster Bracer earlier and we just weren't told so. He got an upgraded elven mithral mail shirt in 1371 DR in The Lone Drow, but he appears to have reverted back to his dwarven mithral chainmail shirt since then. I am just starting the Homecoming series right now, so I am only beginning to learn about his recent upgrades.
Like the build! I would have a few more Ranger levels, I feel Drizzt's early career in the Underdark is better reflected as a Gloomstalker, with Blind Fighting and expertise in Steath (from Canny)
Something I feel a lot of people forgets is that Drizzt was created during the time of AD&D to AD&D 2E where around that time Ranger was a Fighter Subclass and Ranger back then was more about Scouting and Hunting than the whole nature connection. From reading the books at first I was skeptical about him being a Ranger because he seemed like a Fighter but at this time Ranger was just a modified Fighter and after Drizzt graduated from the Fighting School and specifically when he left the Drow I started seeing him more as a Ranger. He was very knowledgeable of the terrain in the Underdark, he knows where to find food, he can easily track people, he is extremely stealthy when in his environment, and his favored enemies were the things he learned to fight in the Fighter's school. He has a connection with animals as seen with Guenhwyvar and when he is taking residence in a cave with Mooshie's bear but Guenhwyvar is magical and the bear was trained by a Ranger so that's a bit of a stretch.
I just started a campaign with a drow the a couple people in my group wernt to sure about it due to the sunlight sensor. But This was an eye opener and I look forward to seeing where I can go with my Drow Quevryn the Arcan Archer.
Amazing! Yeah always just ask the DM for advice on races. Perhaps you have a friend that crafted some arcane sunglasses/ goggles or you just got used to it! It’s kind of a big downer with the sensitivity, but not the end of the world even if you have to play with it 😊
Well in the books anyways Drizzt and other Drow as well eventually get used to the sun and it doesn't bother them as much....at my table we've deemed it appropriate to only do sunlight sensitivity if the drow is fresh from the under dark......even if they do we eventually drop the disadvantage to like a -2 to attacks and perception rolls then after some time a -1 then down to nothing.
Its been a few yrs so my memory is a little off. But in DnD3.5 had Dritzz has a STR of 13, Dex of 15 otherwise the stats is correct and he's a 18 lvl char. 10 lvl fighter, 1 lvl Barbarian & 7 lvl Ranger.
Technically the average lifespan for a drow is a lot closer to a century or two-not because that's not their natural lifespan, because that's still 800 or so-but because SO MANY drow end up dying young due to the shitshow of infighting in Menzoberranzan. (How young? Elves usually come of age at 100.)
@@nathrandirsguide against the ordinary, yes he is. That's why they eventually had him fighting Demons... I mean more powerful ones than the one that held an eternal grudge against him. And the best part of all this? By Elf standards he's not even middle-aged yet.
One could argue the inclusion of some Barbarian levels as well... Though, the monk abilities could be attached to epic class levels... Master of Flowers...
Great question! The one I made specifically here, no. But, if you have the content unlocked that I do and your subscribed to dndbeyond you can search for all my homebrew for the items I referenced. Does that help? 😊 Character links should be in the description too.
I guess one problem with your logic is an assumption that as he gets older he gets more and more deadly. I may be wrong but I was always of a view that he was at his most deadly when exiled from the underdark but before reaching the surface. Drizzt regressed into a bestial and instinctive state of mind that he identified as the "Hunter". Over the years he draws (albeit rarely ) from his 'hunter' state when he really needs to up the ante. Due to the risk of becoming pure instinct without sense of self he puts the hunter to rest. So i guess you could argue instead of +10 levels of dex he switches over to a couple points in wisdom which is still 'a level up' so to speak. But his raw deadliness actually declines from that particular period - at least as I remember it. Young underdark hunter Drizzt kills 140 y.o. Drizzt.
ive read about 30 of the drizzt novels and theres like 10 things you mentioned he has or can do that ive never heard of. not saying its not possible but some of thats a lil sus
I haven't read the books - all the information I've pulled is from multiple wikis and articles. Tried to do my best to do him justice, will never be perfect or entirely faithful. Sorry!
@@nathrandirsguide understandable. wasn't trying to be an ass about it and some of it did come about the more i read but some of its still a lil sus. anyway still a good video bro

Ah awesome, thanks for the info! 😊
Surprised no one pointed out that with deft explorer, it doesn't give you proficiency in a skill, it gives expertise
Thebbow he got from cattie bre shoots exploding arrows of silver with a magic quiver...and plus 1 to all arrows...fkin epic

Can’t wait for all his side kicks

I read some wear he has about 2 lvl in cleric. Am reading the books as of this time am at Crystal shard
I want an up to date build, reflecting Drizzt's full development into epic level content...
Dark Hands can easily be Chill Touch as it deals necrotic damage
Technically speaking, he would have a level of barbarian before getting levels of ranger, since he went kind of wild for a while in the Underdark.
Absolutely, play the way you want :)

Love all the lore of Drow, its so macabre.
You should do a video on Drizzt's father, Zaknafein.
I will look into it, thanks for the suggestion :)
He also wears a Drow Spider Silk shirt underneath his chainmail. He got it during the 1000 Orc War. It protects against piercing and slashing attacks.
Amazing! He's even more OP than we know!

Sorry I should have said Con is 15 not Dex
how about jarl axle or artemis entari
Sounds fun I’ll take a look!
How about an Artemis Entreri video ?
Just had a read! Some super fun magic items to homebrew :D - definitely on my list. Just started getting into the comics too so it's exciting!
Just read the books he has monk class
One could argue the inclusion of some Barbarian levels as well... Though, the monk abilities could be attached to epic class levels... Master of Flowers...
All viable options! You can do that with your own builds, this is just here for inspiration.
Is there a way to save this or copy this to my account?

You can't do Dritzz without Artemis Entreri*
Would you be able to make link
Link from Zelda? That’s an awesome idea, I will get on it 😊

I actually stopped reading the books because he became too o/p
Arcane trickster addition no good. (sorry :) )
I'm disappointed. The only acceptable response to "How to play as Drizzt Do'Urden in 5e" is DON'T!
