- A compilation of Alan Wilder singing lead and backing vocals on Depeche Mode and Recoil tracks from 1983-1997.
Alan also sings solo briefly in the last couple of minutes of the 1984 track "In Your Memory (Slik Mix)", a track on which he also supplies prominent backing vocals.

Alan's voice is so sensual and beautiful. When I watch live DM performances I always try to "fish out" his vocals
So do I. His musical education and natural talent for creativity and composition was so missed after _Songs of Faith and Devotion._ We'll never know what might have been. But Depeche Mode's _Memento Mori_ is the best since _Playing the Angel._
I do it too. Go back and listen to some of the live 86 recordings of question of lust live and maybe have a cry while you’re at it. Simply sexy perfection.
It only took the longest list of producers in the history of DM to pull it off, and Martin writing nothing by himself. 😂 Seriously says so much about them post Alan. I can only imagine how much better everything would have sounded. Even MM. I will give them this, MM is the first album post Alan that I’ve liked 9 tracks from. I haven’t liked 9 songs in the entire post Alan catalog. You can still hear where his vocals should be and that’s a problem, but I’m actually pleasantly surprised by MM. It’s never going to be a Black Celebration or Violator…

Alan has such a beautiful & soft voice...
If that's the regular album version of "Enjoy the Silence", I had no idea that Alan sang the lower octave (along with Dave) on "here, in my arms..."... that's him for sure, it's crazy. He blends so well with Martin and Dave he should have been up just a touch more in the mix, imo

It's well known Dave sung backing vocals on SP, but Alan's voice was so surprisng!

Alan’s and Martin’s singing voices sound very similar.
Came from one channel in a 5.1 recording, so there's likely some overlap.

I’ve been looking for someone to isolate his vocals forever. He really has a beautiful voice. I wish he had more confidence in his writing because his songs were amazing. Better than 99 percent of what David has written.

Actually listening to that refrain many times, I can hear some hesitation at the end of the phrases ( sweetly, deeply, completely). Martin's sings more in tune and his virbrato is different,. i think it's Alan. @@e.g.348

Was it Alan or Fletch saying the “I don’t wanna play” part in Leave in Silence? Fletch appears to sing it in the music video but when they play it live I think Alan does it. That’s my favorite DM song and I’ve always wondered
