I've known women who argue like that and men, Im telling you not every woman is like that. Get a woman who doesn't say shit she doesnt mean when she's angry, get a woman who doesn't belittle you in the heat of an argument. You don't deserve that emotional abuse.
As a woman, I have to say that I firmly believe that the moment partners throw insults or bring up weaknesses as a personal attack to have the last word, it is a fact that all care and respect is gone. The relationship is unhealthy when it becomes easy and tempting to cause pain of any type. Love is patient, kind and grateful even during disagreements.
I definitely can get behind that way of thinking.
Once a couple starts to fling personal insults and and weaknesses, the genie is out of the bottle. That kind of damage is rarely overcome.

I understand what you're saying but I don't believe insulting someone you love means that you don't respect them. It often means both parties got way too emotional & irrational & at the time, wanted to hurt each other. I used to get that way a long time ago with boys, friends & family. I hadn't lost respect, I was hurt, lashing out & not thinking clearly.

If a 150 lb man is tormenting a 245 man, and gets his butt handed to him, we say "Yeah, he deserved that. I hope he learned a lesson."

I'm literally in a legal battle I will probably lose right now, because I was with a woman who physically abused me for almost a year and a half. I got tired of it and smacked her clean across the face. Her literally punching me in the face, groin, guts, clawing me leaving marks over 65% of my body, also already having been arrested before for beating the crap out of me, and I'm the one who got arrested and am going to court because she had a bloody lip. No one ever gives a shit about the guys position. Even the "justice" system.
I feel for ya man, I truly do, I came super close to almost the same thing, the gal wasn't quite that physical with me, more pushing and slapping, but definitely acts that I would have gone to jail for if I did to her. I got lucky though, before she ever succeeded in pushing that button (I'd like to think I don't have that button, but one never knows the depths people can sink to in order to hurt you), she broke up with me, and the reason was, and I quote, "If you really loved me you'd hit me, you're a pussy".
WHEW!! Fucked up future averted. In all honestly I found out later a little more insight on how messed up her childhood was, so my actual hope is that she found help dealing with all that and can someday be at peace with her inner demons.
That's what makes your whole situation sad on all accounts, and I by no means am taking up for the bitch that abused you, but looking at it from a societal perspective, I'm sure she got the shit beat out of her on a regular basis at some point in her life. The fact that having a penis makes you guilty in many scenarios when it comes to the law, is a very shitty thing indeed, but look at how far back in our species history, and currently in many parts of the world, where abuse or hitting of women was just a "god given right" of men, or even in this country, it wasn't that long ago, if a woman got raped or beaten, even a guys own daughter, they were chastised for being out too late, wearing slutty clothes, told they were asking for it. I know that doesn't make your situation any better, I just think after so long a time, of discounting women, the knee jerk caused the pendulum to swing a little too far the other way. Either way, good luck, I really hope you get a good judge and a fair trial.
Look she should go to jail for what she did. It's bullshit. She was wrong. Here's why you don't hit a woman unless she is specialized in MMA fighting or martial arts don't hit a woman why because she can break your nose but you can kill her with the same punch! Her strength is no match for yours. I understood this while watching the tv show Cops. The woman and man got drunk and cops were called out there all the time but this one time the woman was drunk and came at her guy he kicked her in the sternum it broke and went right into her heart killing her. The COPS came out and asked him what happened, "Well stupid finally did it, she came at me and I kicked her." The cops and later EMTs tried to revive her but it was later revealed that her heart was pierced. She was dead.

I think the reason you don't hit woman, should be the same reason you don't hit another man, because we are intelligent creatures, and we need to try an resolve our differences with words, not violence. I realize that's a pipe dream, as far as everyone never fighting again, but we talking philosophical or in theory, right...lol

@@CorinnaD Fortunately, I won that case. As I said, there was overwhelming evidence of regular physical abuse coming from her and she didn't even deny it in trial. The last laugh she got though was putting me through a year of prejudice from society due to the alleged charges, and that the courts let her off of her previous charges due to her becoming a "victim". So I never got any closure for the actual abuse I went through and she got to walk away Scott free.
Bill Burr is one of my favorite philosophers, and his take on arguing is seriously good advice.

I am sorry, but speaking as a woman, I most certainly cannot respect a man who will allow me to verbally disrespect him and treat him like crap, as Joe (Peach Shirt) is advocating that men should do, just to keep the peace. People, men or women, will treat you how you allow them to, and if you act like a doormat or a simp, they will treat you as such and you have no one else to blame but yourself. As soon as someone crosses the line, you immediately establish a boundary and let them know that you will never tolerate being treated in such a manner again, and if he or she refuses to rectify their disrespectful or antagonistic behaviour, you leave. It is that simple. Know your worth and avoid unnecessary headaches and heartaches.

I think keeping the relationship exciting and fresh is a challenge in itself! I think you make a good point about changing oneself for someone else. The right woman will want you to change for the better and not for her. Anyone who does just for their own personal preferences may not be worth sticking around for because ultimately there are compatibility issues there. You know the things you discuss with DT , I am so used to DT's POV, that your view on the several points you two talk about, actually the decent, proper norms and values thoughts, caught me off guard lol! I totally see and recognize what and where you come from with your vision. But , even though in my 50s now, DT's approach is way more exciting and is how I went through life so far. At the moment I watched your vids yesterday, you came across as super boring and polite. Which is not a bad thing btw, don't get me wrong please. It was an eye opener for me and I forgotten completely that some have a total different approach , which can be just as good in the end.

Obviously if you find a woman who isnt deserving of your time, effort, commitment then you should stay away from her. However my view is that at least in the beginning you should always give people the benefit of the doubt, treat everyone with kindness and respect and always be hopeful for the best possible outcome. I'm a true believer in "get back what you give out." I really appreciate your perspective though and realize that different ways work for different people. Ok, as Mrs. Doc here, I will chime in on this topic and say there are certin situations that may come up when hittig back would be appropiriate. Example: You are a dad shopping in a store with your child and some woman gets agressive towards your child, (for some dumb reason only they know), then, is the time it warrants a hands on response. To protect yourself or family from harm is a gloves off situation. Say your on a bus and some able bodied woman demands you give her your seat and gets agressive and threatening about it with words and physical action, then once she lays a hand on you, (say she slaps you), she just gave up her right to be treated decently. These days there are more of them out there than their used to be...they are called Karens. lol

@typadudes no disrespect, it's always about them the gals, but less about us guy. How is it fair a woman to hit us, which makes it wrong, then she should be held accountable for putting her hands on a guy if the guy didn't do anything, which makes her the aggressor.
I gotta say, I am a very chill person. I am very rarely taking part in arguments or fights, and I usually just let it happen, think nothing about it, and confront them later or the next day. And what I have learned is, that most women (or even people in general), are very apologetic about it then. They realize that they have said things that were totally not okay, apologize, sometimes even try to make it up, and often even adjust their behaviour to not let it happen again. So I think I this is the best approach to handling fights with people you know. But, there are always people that dont accept you not taking part in the fight they clearly wanna have, and often they get physical. Which is a good think imo, because then you know to get away from that person. Relationship, friendship, anything. If somebody is willing to physically hurt me, successful or not, it is not a person that you want in your life.
Any woman who is disrespectful to their man, is not a woman that any Man should have more than one date with...but we are Men, and we were taught to be respectful to women. Always.

Joe is right…. It is ok to ask questions….. it’s the way we ask and how we respond to others that counts. The environment has to be one where both parties can express themselves honestly. But, to Joe’s point, if we cannot discuss our differences and our own insecurities and weaknesses that cause us to act out in a negative way, we cannot ever get to the real root of our individual problems, and the issues between us, we can never solve them.

I'm with DT on this. Don't matter who you are. Man woman or other. What matters is how much damage you might inflict. No one should hit anyone regardless of gender and a man has a right not to take abuse just like the woman has the same right. Equality goes both ways
Violence needs to stay out of a relationship. Easier said than done. I'm a single 60 yr old woman, no kids because of stuff that happened in my childhood, not because I'm a feminist, because I'm not. I resolved to break the cycle of abuse, so I never married or had a boyfriend. I've had therapy, but if I ever found a man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with, I'd have to get more therapy. I can function in society, don't drink alcohol, have hobbies, but I'm also an introvert, so not interested in the social scene. I have much respect for couples who make relationships work.

🦋 In his perfect world, getting both sides of the story makes sense. Until you’re one of those people that your side of the story is never listen to for many different reasons gender, culture, color of your skin, just the name a few. In defense of him he’s coming from his experience in life but he doesn’t realize that that’s not everybody else’s experience or at least that’s how it seems that he’s thinking.
The difficulty of “rolling with resistance”
Big guy says to just get both sides of the story. The problem is, what if someone is lying? What if the woman is lying, what if the woman is the abuser, and everyone treats the man like garage, until the truth comes out? What happened to Johnny Depp is a prime example of this.
There's always a reason to hit a woman, there's always is a reason to hit or kill anyone wronging you, and some really deserve it. What I really hate about society, or at the very least, parts of the U.S., where self-defense is being shamed. Environments like that, train & worsen evil people. Bullies say & do horrible things to innocent people, then pretend to be the victim, when the real victim says or does anything in retaliation.
Relying on authorities or society, over yourself, is what makes greedy and evil people more entitled, more bold, and worse, because they're expecting you not to fight back. And when seconds count, those pests & gang-members known as police, are minutes away. And even if they do show up, they don't know who the F to believe, so they just send you both your separate ways. Real victim fuming, still wronged, even lost something, and the bully, walking away smirking, or if they are manipulative enough, they get the cops, stupid vigilantes, and judges on their side, to add to the real victims suffering, for the bullies gain or amusement.
This why, this is why, anyone who wants to rob, violate, kill, or bully me in person I fight them tooth & nail. And it doesn't matter if they are weaker then me, it just means I get to defend myself & mine quicker.
Wicked people keep harming & cheating the innocent, because they think they can get away with it. And if you don't fight back, they likely will. There is the argument to be made, to kill certain people in self-defense, if you can get away with it, because this society & system doesn't fix or exterminate truly vile people, again, it makes them worse. Basically kill & eat them, loot their corpse, disappear from the scene, and if the scene your home, then quietly kill & destroy their body. There is no point getting the police involved.
Evil people of any gender, try to degrade your life. Whether or not you fight back, you lose. You either let them have their way with you and your things, or, you defend you & yours, then have those degenerates replaced by other degenerates called police, vigilantes, lawyers, judges, and news stations. It is pointless being merciful, and playing by society's rules.
So I say, secretly defend & avenge yourself, and if you can, do the world a service. Anyone who willing, and frequently harms & cheats the innocent, without remorse, deserves to suffer, deserves to be disfigured & crippled. If they don't change, then they deserve to die.
I isolate myself, not only because I'm happier alone, but also because Its hard for someone to use & abuse you, if you don't let them deep in your life to begin with. And some stranger invades your life, then it's much easier to get them out of it, no connections, be it ending them on the street, defending yourself and getting away from there, or deleting their trespassing body in your home.

I tell my finance things I don’t appreciate and have a genuine communication about it and she’ll still end up doing it. Talking about things doesn’t work when most don’t want to listen.

I think the problem isn't about questioning. because we can argue in some cases against women that some men don't always question either. I think it boils down to assumptions. The problem is that there are some groups of women, and indeed men as a matter of fact, who just blindly assume that under no circumstance whatsoever should anybody question what happened when a violent act is committed against a women, but will not extend that same courtesy or staunch opposition to such questioning if it were a woman committing a violent act on a man. That is where the problem lies. It's not about arguing that violence against women shouldn't be taken as seriously or condoned simply because violence against men by women isn't taken seriously or falsely justified, it is about not accepting any form of violence in any relationship and not using gender as a dis qualifier for taking somebody seriously.
That being said, I wouldn't hold out much hope, because I fear the trend will be as it always is. Women are more likely to stand up for women when they are a victim of male abuse and violence and Men are more likely to stand up for men when they are the victim of abuse or violence from women. And both are apathetic to the exceptions. Bros before Hoes, Chicks before Dicks. that's what makes the world go round.
I was raised in a violent home, unfortunately, my brother was the kind that would go home and just beat on his girlfriend. No reason, I witnessed it. She had cleaned the house, finished work, cooked dinner and we were chatting as he arrived. He walked in checked what she cooked, threw it across the dining room and started beating on her. So, there are punks that do that without a reason. But yes, there are women that do push buttons just to get a reaction. However, Bill is just emphasising that some women do give a reason for a man to hit her. But this doesn't mean a man should hit her. (My opinion only)

One of the benefits of growing up when bullying was common is that after school, anything anyone verbally says to you is nothing compared to being young, full of hormones, constantly thrown in new situations and harassed by classmates, teachers, and even family. Thick skin is underestimated.

Typically men prefer to solve problems and women want her emotions validated (simplistically).
You can ask questions, but I think Bill is saying why the authorities assume the man is in the wrong in manhandling a woman, and not ask the man questions as to what happened. So, the first instance of judgement is that the man is always in the wrong; it's automatic, and Bill's conversation is why? Like he said, don't hit a woman, but don't say there's no reason to hit a woman, because there are reasons.

The guys talking about victim blaming is talking about media talk and online talk the guy saying of course ask questions is talking about real world interpersonal relationships with people you know, completely different scenarios. That's why you're both right.

Yeah. It’s “Believe All Women!” & don’t ask questions. A woman can accuse a guy of sexual assault & usually there is no due process for the guy in terms of losing his job, or scholarship, or whatever.
If a woman says she was assaulted, she should be taken seriously & with respect, as if what she’s saying MAY be true. But if her claim is treated as though it’s already a proven fact then that makes the guy she’s accusing automatically guilty. Obviously, some guys are NOT guilty, & their rights must be protected too.
Case in point: The 2006 Duke Lacrosse case in which 3 players were falsely accused of rape. They were expelled from school; their faces were all over the news; they were called rapists & racists for a year; their lives were destroyed for an entire year until it became clear that it was all fabricated. Then all charges were dropped. And the guys are expected to just move on? It’s crazy. Innocent until proven guilty has been forgotten.
What you need to say is , the truth hurts regardless of who is fault it is .

I am a woman & although I don't agree that women in general just want attention & sympathy...I do understand to an extent what he's saying. In my opinion, it's like hate, or men crying & many other things. It's because as a society we've been taught that it's just plain wrong so the majority of people feel there is No reason to ask questions. I however, think that Bill & so many other comics are wiser than most & they just make it easier to digest. You should & we should all be able to ask questions... especially when it's a one time thing. If it's constant, there are bigger problems.

My gen was super lucky, sweet spot in the 90's/00's. Girls and guys got along and called out bad behavior without creating twitter careers and hashtags.

I would disagree that most people are only rational to a certain level. Jim Gaffigan made a great joke about how finding out how crazy and dumb Americans are when covid first hit and then also finding out how many of them are related to us. Orange shirt is idealist and nothing wrong with that, if world had more people like that it probably be a better world. But its a large world and often spectrum of one side will also have the opposite existing as well. Life rarely plays out like a script and roles are not as easily define as we would like them to be. I do enjoy seeing friends being able to have friendly discussion and not just being argumentative.

When they don't let you leave and are in your face going crazy how long can you take it is what it comes down to which sucks when a walk or a workout would be more than sufficient in calming down sometimes they see red . Here's a few reasons I've seen cheated and had guys sign under the mattress then set my car in fire while I was dealing with that she cut the back of all my pants and draws and stole my money and atm card and some where in there tried to stab me and hit me with a boom box with a broken antenna hid my keys deleted a message from work because my assistant was a girl and the message was I needed a light over because ours just fell out of the ceiling and I had an inspection at 7am and they closed in 30 min by the time I found out 3 hours later I tried to call the cops she cut the phone cord in half that was before cell phones while I was looking for my keys she hid my shoes and the whole time I was just trying to go calm down after they closed and was no way to get a cover before my inspection the whole time she was in my face going crazy and telling me to give her a kiss not like that mean it I made it 3.5 hours before pushing her into the couch and running down the street with no shirt no keys one shoe a knife wound and a hole in my shoulder she ran next door and used their phone called the cops and said I hit and choked her they arrested me not her and I was sent to jail missed my inspection and got fired that whole time I was in jail and they said I was guilty for pushing her into the couch and running away but her nothing for 3.5 hours of attacking and going crazy . I sat in jail for ten days before getting out to an empty apartment with an eviction notice my one car burned to what they said was worth less than 35 bucks the other had no battery and 4 flat tires and broken windshield I still feel that was worth a shot or two especially since it's in my record as I'm a violent crazy guy for running away after 3.5 hours I have many more stories I clouding a big girl raping me after kidnapping me and one attacking me while I was at work for several hours after knocking over a customer and jumping over the counter and wouldn't let me off the wall I was pinned against to talk to the pissed off customer that was knocked clearly off her feet and wanted to speak with the manager which was me again I finally ran away again she chased me and a car cut me off and she got me and went crazy there's some reasons is all I'm saying and I have seen lots of them

Interesting, but it seems Mr. Jo isn't aware of all those women's incarceration facilities throughout the world. Believe it or not, there are a number of times, and "I've been in such situations" where being a woman has absolutely nothing to do with it. Sure, if you aren't dealing with an impaired, psychotics or just outright violent woman in the first place, there may be that option of de-escalating or removing yourself from the situation. Reality doesn't always play well with one's perception on how the world 'should' be. Have a chat with some emergency services folks, particularly the law enforcement and ER/EMT members. I'm sure they can provide a few stories that'll likely surprise you on just how far things can get off track. You also may see some information regarding a few men who had to resort to getting restraining orders to try and stay safe from some of those 'defenseless' women. That also doesn't even address the growing community of those women, who weren't always a woman.
I think everyone can agree that it's best to try and de-escalate disputes, or have that 'walk away' option available. Almost everyone would get on board with having a peaceful resolution to any disagreement. It also helps to work on one's communication skills to increase that option with better chances of a preferred outcome.

Then I just want to say the big guy on the right with the big ears is really not representing the majority of real men. His comments lead me to look at him more as a male feminist which of course are becoming more more lately. It seems to make the female argument in terms of ethylene's and of it though it's feelings and who controls things but the stuff he says would. The only reason you should hit a woman is out of self defense. But the thing that gets annoying is women think they can just go around hitting men for stupid shit. Everyone just assumes that "man hits woman = abuse" when I've seen so many videos of women throwing punches like crazy at men and starting fights until the guy finally snaps and defends himself. For example, I'm a KU fan and I remember when everyone was ready to cancel Carlton Bragg because his ex GF accused him of pushing her down the stairs. Then the footage from the hallway camera came out showing her frantically punching him and all he did was push her off him and she went flying down the stairs.
I’m a licensed psychotherapist and I have to say I find your discussion interesting and not what I expected from a reaction vid. Bill Burr is one of my favorite comedians and his bit here is so well done for lots of reasons-great comedic timing and twists from what one expects to name a few. However, if we’re going to treat his bit as serious intellectual inquiry, then the premise “we have to ask questions,” is grossly flawed because we know quite a lot about abuse, the different types of abuse, the reasons tend to follow predictable patterns of behavior, and usually, but not always, abusive personalities precede relationships. It’s usually aligned with personality disorders that emerged from neglect or abuse, and such abusive partners find either other abusive types or people they feel they can manipulate while having needs met.
Bill has said many times that his comedy is entertainment and we should remember that. Otherwise, everything falls apart such as Bill’s use of “reason”here does. Bill is assuming that when one says no reason, that this means women or advocates are saying women are blameless in all cases. Quite obviously this is not what’s meant. No reason simply means that regardless of whatever may motivate one towards violent acts-which may feel justifiable, the act itself, however, is unjustified given the whole host of options one usually has to act otherwise and take responsibility for their own actions, which, ironically, agrees with Bill’s overall point.
Feeling like one deserves punched is one thing, acting on it is another and that’s the point. No one is saying that there’s no causal chain that leads one or a couple to act as they do. No reason is not ignoring causalities, it’s just not justified to act simply because you feel something. If it is justifiable to act on anything one feels, then god help us all lol. I love this comedy bit, but I can suspend my understanding of these things to watch and enjoy a well done piece of comedy. Comedians are not infallible replacements for research and science. Just enjoy the bit for what is. Just a thought.
Best thing you can do (other than just stay single) is to ignore them and walk away. You always win that because you don't have to engage in a pointless, frivolous argument about nothing (and yes, 99.99% of all arguments women have are pointless and frivolous) and she will be the one who gets pissed off and it's just a waste of your valuable time. NOTHING will piss her off more than not engaging with her. She will get in her own head and start to question the entire relationship at that point wondering if you still love her because women are neurotic like that.
