    Hi
    "Lost Hour Productions
    set up perfect... the only default
    your long tail is .... "WAY" too long
    is supposed to have 1/3 of the boat max ....
    EX: for a 16 feet boat long tail +/-5 feet max (more 4ft1/2 than 5)
    that's why you have to push to get your propeller down in the water and you have no "speed" on your boat
    in shallow water...
    try it and see
    (experience from Thailand, making long tail boats for 6 years)

    What coupling did you use to attach the shaft to the engine? How did you make it to stay together?

    May be a silly question but hows the motor stay cool? Dont pressure washers require water to keep from overheating? Or can they air cool to for a short period of time?

    • @LostHourProductions
      @LostHourProductions  6 місяців тому

      They are air cooled so no problem running for any amount of time.

      The only thing purchased for the frame were the C-clamps, everything else was just laying around the garage. That is kind of the point of a build like this, just being creative and coming up with a solution. Example: I had three different ideas for the pivot on the bottom, one being a u-joint I had laying around. I cut it apart and was almost done mocking it up when I realized it wasn’t going to work. The most fun part of trying to build something from nothing is the satisfaction that you came up with the solution!

    How does the bearings holds on the post? They is bolt but the bearing mount are larger?

    • @LostHourProductions
      @LostHourProductions  6 місяців тому +1

      I welded nuts to the side so I could replace them as they go out. I use this motor every duck season and anticipate replacing the bearings every 3-5 years because of the amount of water they are exposed to.

    Do you ever have problems with weeds getting wrapped in the shaft?

    • @brendanhuntley2123

      And bearings?

    • @LostHourProductions
      @LostHourProductions  Рік тому +1

      I did but then I welded a larger shaft around the bottom portion of the shaft in the water so the weeds just slide off!

    That stupid case when there is a lot of metal trash lying around in the garage and a longtail motor is molded, there are simpler, easier and more rational solutions...👎
