Auto DBE for PixInsight - better than Gradient Correction?

Seti Astro has recently released the Automatic DBE Script for PixInsight - a new solution for Gradient Removal. Cuiv has recently established that Auto DBE is better then Graxpert - but how does it compare with Gradient Correction? This we will evaluate in this video!

I am waiting for MARS as well, and then gladly retire ADBE. Great video and I do say in my video ADBE probably wont be the best solution in all cases.
In a rebuttal, I will say I covered why I will not be using GradientCorrection, especially in my part 2 video. It tends to remove small scale structure that is not gradient. For me I dont want something removing my data. GC is the worst, removing the most signal, even worse than GraXpert. There could have been IFN in the background or nebulosity in the pleaides that GC completely erased. Also you demonstrated on small objects. A frame with lots of nebulosity stands to lose a lot with GC. Kind of the same thought process of sticking with wbpp over fbpp. My personal taste is I dont want a process removing signal I worked hard to get, if your personal taste is to remove the gradient as your priority then GC is your best bet. Except your first image you demonstrated, use whatever tool you can to correct that horrible gradient!!

Oops, I just added a comment saying similar stuff, sorry it ended up being almost a duplicate. In short, I fully agree with Frank there... And I really hope MARS will be the silver bullet we all are waiting for. For now I've been sorely disappointed by GC...

Likewise I agree with Cuiv and Frank. If new tools are being introduced they should be an improvement to what’s in existence. I’ve tried using GC numerous times to give it a fair chance but it continues to be a disappointment.
Until MARS is complete I’ll be using Graxpert and ADBE

Hi, I had seen your video on AutoDBE and I tried to use it and I must say that it gave me good results with remarkable ease of use.
But I agree with you that Gradient Correction is superior.
My problems are two: the first is that I am not expert from a technical point of view and I don't know how the settings must be made to obtain a good result.
The second is that not knowing the English language, I find myself in even more difficulty!
However, I wanted to ask a question: I photograph in LRGB and therefore, apart from the Luminance for RGB,
is it preferable to act on separate channels, or is it better to combine the image first and then use GC?

Have a look at the official GC videos of PixInsight here on UA-cam - they explain a lot how to use the settings. You can auto-translate the subtitles.
About your question - it depends how you record the channels - it you do 1xR, 1xG, 1xB and then you repeat it, then you can combine them first and do one gradient removal. But if you shoot first all the red, then all the green and then all the blue, then I would correct them separately before combining, as the gradients might have change throughout the night.

I think GraXpert is a great tool for people preferring a 1-button tool - quick and easy. But I also think that GC delivers the better results if you are willing to understand how the tool works and to configure it for the specific picture.
