Nice film, funny. Great music work, I enjoyed the banjo specially, earing the people during the film, funny, like to be watching it with friends. Thanks for sharing your work and this little cinema masterpiece.
un film formidable
Why does it sound like this piano player is recording this music in a cafeteria with silverware clanging on dishes, etc.? Then someone starts whistling the music and so on - too distracting but I did enjoy the film itself - thanks for sharing ! >^..^
Enjoying the film & background music. Gets a bit Dock Boggs with banjo playing! Rather atmospheric. Quite interesting really.
Issues. By the way, best book on Lubitsch is Herman Weinberg's The Lubitsch Touch.
No it isn't. William Paul's Ernst Lubitsch American Comedy is much more insightful as an essay, and Scott Eyman's Laughter in Paradise will remain, it seems, the definitive bio.
A great movie, indeed. But the music! It's a horrendous, completely inappropriate soundtrack for this film. Otherwise, it's really great.
Really great flick. A little slow in the middle but a satisfying ending. The soundtrack didn't bother me at all.
Fine print of a marvelous film, but the musical soundtrack is bizarre and unsuitable, sorry to say.

The Marriage Circle - ein großartiger Film - ist eine Komödie!
Die Filmmusik in dieser Neu-bearbeitung stellt Stimmungen her, die jeden Witz unmöglich machen. Als ob es um poetische Kunstbilder ginge, die zu untermalen wären! Die herrliche dummen Gesichter von Doktor Braun (Monte Blue), das lachhaft glückliche Ehepaar Braun (Florence Vidor, Monte Blue), die Tricks der raffiniert einfältigen Mizzi (Marie Prevost), der genervte Gentleman-Macho Alphonse Menjou, all das kann seine Komik nicht entfalten, wenn die Musik einen Raum von "hoher Kunst" etabliert oder signalisiert, es ginge um große Gefühle. Unter dem Strich eine selbstgefällige Musik, die sich in den Vordergrund drängt.
Ein Werk der Komik ist ein fragiles Gebäude und eine Neuinterpretation verlangt Feinfühligkeit, Präzision und die richtige Dosierung. Da kann man nicht einfach mal eine neue Stimmung nach seinem Gusto drunterlegen. Nichts gegen Variationen der klassischen Stummfilmmusik. Aber dieser Clip kann als Paradebeispiel dafür gelten, wie die falsche Musik sogar ein Meisterwerk komplett seiner Wirkung berauben kann.
auweia - und wenn sich dann so eine selbstverliebte prätentiöse böse möse Meinung in den Vordergrund drängt... Wohl sowohl Musik als auch Film studiert, wa!? Einfach mal den Korken rausziehen oder vorher wegzappen. Danke auch für die Sauglatte polyglotte Einführe..:-)
