The problem with the switch is the black plastic plate opposite the electrical contacts. The plate has a groove that engages with a "finger" that is attaches to the contact slide. The finger is sharp and must wear the internals of the plastic part then no longer works. I am going to attempt a repair before ordering a switch. It pops out by prying and pulling up. My TT only has two wires going to it, so there must have been design changes.

I’m curious about the cap as I’ve seen it being repaired without. What is it rated at assuming you can still recall? I’ve been given one of these turntables and whilst I appreciate it’s not easy to work with I like the aesthetics. The switch is broken as is usual and the 33 light doesn’t appear to work but from your work I see that might be a simple loose wire. I’m currently waiting on a new cartridge before taking it apart in order to see if the auto shutoff works as intended in case I also have to buy the lights. Hopefully you suffered so I don’t have to!

@@manmaas I would just buy the eBay kit with bulbs and replace them all. I have using the TT a couple weeks and it performs well, the tone arm like to bounce around a bit if you are ham fisted. Not had any problems.

@@tlister67 Yes, I've got them 'watched' on eBay.
