  • We found 23-year-old Carey Mae Parker's (mother of three) car underwater, solving the mysterious disappearance of what happened to Carey, and why she never arrived at her son Brian's birthday party 30-years ago in Hawk Cove, Texas.
    Carey Mae Parker
    Missing Since: 03/17/1991
    Missing From: Quinlan, Texas
    Sex: Female
    Race: White
    Date of Birth: 05/12/1967 (53)
    Age: 23 years old
    Height and Weight: 5'7 - 5'10, 115 - 125 pounds
    Distinguishing Characteristics
Caucasian female. Brown hair, blue eyes. Parker has an indentation on the side of her calf due to an accident, and scars on her left arm from an injury caused by a broken window. She has previously broken her pelvis and chipped her tailbone. Parker may wear eyeglasses. Her ears are pierced.
    Details of Disappearance
Parker was last seen in Quinlan, Texas on March 17, 1991. She was driving a blue and gray 1980 or 1981 Buick Skylark with Texas license plates at the time of her disappearance. She has never been heard from again.
At the time she went missing, Parker lived with friends in Quinlan and worked the night shift at Flanders PrecisionAire, an air conditioning company in Terrell, Texas. She has three children, all of whom were under the age of six in 1991. She disappeared only a few days before her son's birthday, and she had been planning a party for him. Parker left her last paycheck behind, and it was eventually mailed to her father's house. There hasn't been any activity on her driver's license since 1991.
When Parker's father found out she was missing, he told a friend who was a police constable, and the constable promised to file a missing person report. Parker's sister also attempted to file a report with the Terrell Police Department, but the police logged it as a welfare check and not a missing persons report. It wasn't until 2010 that Parker's family found out no missing person report had ever been filed. Her sister then filed a second police report with the Hunt County Sheriff's Office.
In February 2021, almost 30-years after Parker disappeared, we found her vehicle submerged, upside down, in fifteen feet of water in Lake Tawakoni off the 751 causeway.
We worked with the Hunt County Sheriffs Office and were only able to recover half the car.
The car pulled apart due to its age being underwater for so long, and no human remains were found inside that evening.
Weeks later, another underwater investigation team led by the state went in to investigate and authorities hoped to uncover more evidence. Nothing was found at that time.
Our team here at AWP believes a proper and thorough investigation was not conducted. As such, we have plans to return in September to finish removing Carey's car and do a proper forensics search for any human remains in the area.
Parker's family believes she's deceased and now has the answers they have been seeking for the past 30 years.

Finding the car gives the family a place. The birthday balloons marking the spot caused me to tear up. It couldn't be that she had those in the car for her son? I know it is unlikely but it is as if God marked the spot.

The case is not solved and I pray that it is solved, in her sisters lifetime. Someone took her body elsewhere and jammed the gas pedal and ran that car off into the water. It will not be solved until the perpetrators are brought to justice, if they are still alive themselves. May YHWH bless you and keep you all, especially her family. I'd personally like to know what that sheriff said to you, when he first called you aside... and why didn't the sheriff's department drag that car out of the water using his own recovery divers after y'all had already been in the water. Many bodies & vehicles have been dumped into Lake Tawakoni by killers, because it's so murky. Someone else was in that car, to do that; I pray they dropped something. If the smurf was still there, maybe somethig else is. Forensics and detectives; care enough to do your best. Pull the rest of that car out and look! That's what you are are trained to do. Awesome job divers! The county needs to pay the wrecker tab.

I might would have never found out what happened to my son. We dont know how or what caused the wreck but i was told he was unconscious & thats why he drowned. His seatbelt was still on. Yes the Holy Spirit was at work but the work of psychics is not of God. Thankfully, God will use what the devil meant for evil and turn it to good which He did when He lead them straight to the right area. The woman even said the psychic had a look in her eyes that made her very uncomfortable. Psychics aren't evil but the spirit that works in them is. Don't be deceived. God even says in the Bible to stay away from psychics and the like. God is good 🙌

I got the impression that she would be gone for periods of time when the sister said that when she didn’t show up to her sons birthday party “it wasn’t totally out of the ordinary”. @Politically incorrect and why exactly would I want to do that? Let me correct myself, they are not all like that. But we seem to have far too many that are. And it is infuriating. Why take the job if your goal is not to help people? When a family member goes missing, they need to know something is being done to find their loved one. Unfortunately, by the time they realize their family member is missing, if they've gone into the water in a car, 😣 the most they can hope for is a recovery . But at least they wouldn't be left for years agonizing over what happened. That is a nightmare.

Some people don't understand the reasoning behind the like and dislike choices, they probably dislike that Carry lost her life and are sad for the family, where as to them seeing us like the video they perceive that as disrespectful that we like that someone died. I try to look at both sides of the coin and when they ask about it, explain to them, we are not liking what happened, but we like the authors sharing the video with us and that enables them to make more so we can follow their adventures.

Some people dislike everything they watch. Some people hate everything in the world. Some dislikes might come from bots (likes too) that someone set up just to fuck with UA-cam. Some people might have hit dislike instead of like with their fat fingers while only looking with one eye onto their phone. Some people watching might be little kids that just randomly decide what they press. Some people might have not liked a certain aspect of the video and because the choice is being so simplified they chose dislike as option.
In other words: There are endless possibilities and it's probably not worth for you to think about it too much.

    • @Thewatcherinthering336
      @Thewatcherinthering336 3 роки тому +32

Why the dislikes? For me, there’s way too much “oak island” to these videos. Meaning, the constant recapping of the story, the huge volume of filler material, the buildup that just turns out feeling like it was a waste of time because the ending doesn’t have much resolve to it. Like, how did it happen and why. And finally, too much dramatics, like it’s overdone, not genuine. Yes, the situation is horrible for the family, but after 30 years, one knows that their loved one has passed. This guys acts like he was trying to save a life but failed.

Your comment really touched my heart because you wrote with confidence that the mother had sent a message. I've had at least one incident that felt as if it was a message from my son who was shot and killed 10 yrs ago. It happened during that first year, when grief is still very sharp and overwhelming.
It was a Saturday morning and my mind kept repeating its pain and sorrow and I decide to dispel the sadness by calling one of my daughters so id break the repetition in my thoughts " why did he have to die, etc.." instead of picking up the phone i picked up the TV remote, dialed the entire number and felt silly that i'd not noticed that i had "dialed"the entire number therefore knocking the Elvis Presley movie off.
After talking with my daughter for a minute I picked up the remote, switched back to the Elvis move and the very first screen was a secretary picks up a phone says " I'll get a hold of Roland!!" In a very cheery way. With that perfectly timed timed coincide of almost see my son Roland smiling at me, as if to say -" I'm OK Mom".

A week after my uncle’s passing, my aunt went every morning to his grave. He was an avid birdwatcher and his favorite bird was the pheasant, so the family splurged and had a custom headstone made featuring a carved pheasant. We had to wait an extra week for the carving to be done. On day three, my aunt was startled to see a magnificent pheasant step out of the woods and pace back and forth for about five minutes. The bird appeared every morning for three more days until the headstone was put in place. After that, it appeared no more. My aunt just knew for sure it was Uncle Jim’s way of letting her know he was alright and waiting for her.

Decades ago they didn’t have the technology we have today. There are special teams that work on cold cases, but there are always other cases that also need attending to as well that have a better chance at getting solved vs a case that is 30+ years old with little to no evidence. Some towns also don’t have the funding for these teams, so it takes time for them to get to it.

I would not jump to conclusions about what happened, because there simply is not yet enough evidence to support that. It is conceivable that Carey Mae Parker perished as a result of her own driving error, or the vehicle went out of control because of a defect, or she took her own life by committing 'autocide' (either after prior planning or spontaneously), or she was the victim of a homicide committed by a person or persons unknown (and perhaps was not actually in the car when it entered the water), or that she deliberately decided to disappear and staged the scenario either alone or with the complicity of others. The practice of investigation requires that all such possibilities (and possibly others) must remain 'on the table' until they are disproved beyond a reasonable doubt. This stage has not been reached. The realities of solving this intriguing 'Cold Case' probably lie in the professional interrogation of those who were involved in the life of Carey Mae Parker three decades ago.

Bones do not last millions of years. You're talking about fossils, which are not bones but a chemical exchange where minerals replace the bone matter 1:1 and look the same as the bones did.
Further, bones, as well as other body parts are entirely subject to the environment surrounding them. The bones very well could have entirely deteriorated. This happens especially when animals have access. Not all bones become fossils and not all bodies or bones of bodies remain intact for long periods. Sometimes there are remains in deep water because of low oxygen which prevents animals or other life forms from living and breaking it down. This was clearly not the case as the car shows incredible deterioration.

EVERYONE and I QUOTE (Because y'all won't read it! )
"Weeks later, another underwater investigation team led by the state went in to investigate and authorities hoped to uncover more evidence. Nothing was found at that time.
Our team here at AWP believes a proper and thorough investigation was not conducted. As such, we have plans to return in September to finish removing Carey's car and do a proper forensics search for any human remains in the area. There’s a search going on in our area this week. 19 yr old and his father got caught in riptide and went under. Father was found, but his son is still missing.
Update: missing 19 yr old found Friday morning at 3:00AM washed up on beach very close to where he was last seen.

@Kelly I don't think that your response is accurate about them knowing something and wanting to keep it covered up. One thing about police work is they lack the ability and desire or motivation. If it were one of theirs, perhaps they'd get busy. Old cops are old school. With new technology and science as AWP utilizes, it'd be just as easy for LE to do the same thing, if they had the heart and fortitude as AWP does. It could be that they lack resources and it could be a management issue and requesting funding and equipment to do just what AWP does and has. There are organizations and non-profits and businesses that'd bend over backwards to help emergency services procure equipment to do just what AWP is doing, if they take the time to seek it out. These agencies that aren't putting much time and effort into these cases should literally be embarrassed to what the private sector is doing. Lord knows we pay enough in taxes for services but thank God that people such as AWP are doing this on their own. I believe that LE sits and waits for tips, or leads to be brought to them and instead of going out and hitting the waterways, streets and where ever, looking for answers they simply give up. Perhaps we should be seeking answers from our legislators and demanding old laws be removed and perhaps new laws enacted where these types of efforts are made mandatory. I couldn't imagine missing a family member for 30 years. It is sad that in such a great nation that we, as LE officials, can't hold a candle to what AWP has done and will do in the future. Very admirable group of people and they deserve our support.

Adventures with Purpose does not require the permission of the Sherriff or any other Public Servant to dive into a privately-owned reservoir. In fact, the entire five-mile perimeter of what is known as 'Lake Tawakoni' is available as access for the public to swim from. AWP may however have been required to obtain the prior consent of the owners of the reservoir to carry out an arguably 'professional' or 'business related' dive. Once AWP had reasonable cause to believe that they had found an underwater car which may be involved in or may have contained evidence in a Missing Person Case, they then were correct in contacting Law Enforcement before proceeding further. This is because the car would be legally defined as a potential 'Crime Scene' until an authorised Official had formally determined otherwise.

Awful. Reminds me of a guy whose car and skeleton were found after 20 years in a retention pond near where I live. Someone noticed a car-like shape in the pond while he was using Google Maps and asked an ex-girlfriend to have a look at the pond as it was behind her house. She couldn't see anything so they recruited someone they knew who owned a drone. They flew the drone over the pond, spotted the vehicle, and called the cops. I'm glad their families finally know what happened to them but it's sad because there's always a sliver of hope that the person is still alive.

My niece passed away when I was on my way home from Nebraska to New Hampshire. She was on hospice and I didn't make it. She passed 9 hours before I got there. She was 8 1/2 months old. I was driving a moving van non-stop (only for food and bathroom breaks). Barely a couple days later, after a storm, when I stepped out of my house that morning, there was a heart balloon laying there on the deck. Fully deflated and facing me. My mom and I cried, we both know it must have been a sign.
I have no doubt in my mind, those balloons were a sign. My father always said, everything happens for a reason. And I fully believe that.

@@judyschmidt3022 this reminds me of when AVP accidentally solved Timothy Robinson's missing person's case. He was missing for 12 years and his car was upside-down at about a depth of 70ft. The searched his car and didn't feel any remains and assumed it was a dumped car. Then they noticed his remains when they were putting the car on the boat ramp. His remains could've easily fallen out. I think only the passenger windows were up.
In this case her car was a good 20ish years older than Tim's car, but with her car falling apart the way it was it's possible they couldn't reach into the car properly due to its condition. She could've been in there until the car broke apart. No one knows. All we can do is speculate.
