    Some of those comments are straight up terrible. Rafa is a legend, but why make hateful comments on a 16 year old player? The kid hasn't had as much experience as most other players on the tour, but he still played as good as he can and that's that. I think it's better to be supportive to new players than to hate on them because they're playing against a much more successful player.

    Blanch is a good player, my god are the comments destructive. He is 16, and has a very good rating and the Wild Card is totally justified. It is just very terrifying facing someone at your first Masters if you are not accustomed to such big events, let alone facing a legend of the game that is celebrating a farewell tour. This was his chance of experiencing this kind of professional level and he will have learned a lot with this match. With a constant progress, he will be in the top 200-300 in the next 3-4 years and hopefully higher :)

      it is a meritocracy as 95 % of the main draw's players are here thanks to their ranking. Yes the wild cards are sometimes unfair, but it's the whole point of having wild cards in tennis, giving the opportunity to young players to play a big tournament if they don't have a ranking good enough to qualify directly or through the qualifications. all big champions went through this WC process.

    • @choide19
      @choide19 25 днів тому +12

      that’s one of the incentives to sponsoring and pouring millions of dollars into a tournament. if you have a way to have the atp select wild cards off ranking and u have the money yourself to fund the tourney, i’m the sure the atp would love to hear from you. besides, wild cards make for fun stories like hometown heroes and the like, and there are plenty of main draw spot available if players want to earn their way in

      I believe the best is not having heroes, teach young players effort, sacrifice and spirit of fight, then you tell them that the players that they re about to fight are really good players but humans, so the task is difficult but if you persevere you have a little chance to win... Teach this and chivalry and you will obtain young warriors otherwise you will have players without personality that shake in front of the bests

      I think the occasion was overwhelming. Playing a legend like Rafa in his first Masters. The crowd cheering and clapping for Rafa on Centre Court. The eyes of the world on him. I'm sure he knew Rafa would win this match but at age 16 with no experience he maybe hoped for a miracle where he would win a few more games than he did but his inexperience and the occasion led to many errors. I think he just wanted to get off that court by the end. But he will recover and come back stronger. That is life.

    Nadal était déjà très fort à 15 ou 16 ans... Et quand il avait 17 ans ou 18 ans, il aurait peut-être pu gagner Roland Garros, mais à chaque fois il a été blessé et n'a doncpas pu participer. Cela veut dire qu'en fait Nadal aurait peut-être pu gagner 16 Roland Garros et pas seulement 14. Peut-être même qu'il aurait pu gagner quand il avait 16 ans, c'est-à-dire à l'âge de son adversaire d'aujourd'hui. Incroyable.

But at the end, when they were "high-fiving" each other, I don't think he realised and appreciated that he had just played for the first and certainly last time against one of the big three, namely King Nadal alongside King Federer. Let's go Spain, let's go Rafa and thank you for letting me experience this - all the best on your further journey in your final year, as likeable as the Spanish people, culture, country and language.
