Always a pleasure hearing your input on targeting these fish Phil. Thank you for taking the time, sir.
Much appreciated! Next time you are up our end we should do a video together. Would love to do a Canal seminar with you
@@GooseHummock It would be my absolute pleasure to talk shop regarding the canal. I’m a total nerd in regard to gear, tackle, tactics, etc. I’m also an avid brown shark fisherman from the surf and I feel that fishery really taking off the past few years, especially when the striper bite is down it’s a great change of pace. Cheers bud, and happy holidays to you and the Goose family!
Nice work guys! I'll be sharing this one!
Thanks Phil...have a great holiday!
Thanks for watching! Have a good Christmas too Joe!
Done, thank you! Merry Christmas.

No problem!
Nice work fellas!
We try! Thanks for watching again Alan!
Hi Phil. I have 2 questions. For run and gun and jigging, is it okay to use a swivel, or should lures be directly tied on? Also, when trolling for wahoo will a tuna also hit a Nomad DTX with wire leader or will the wire spook them? Thanks.
Thanks for such a valuable intel, when I fish commercially, and caught fish over 73”, do i always must sell that fish to a dealer, or it’s up to me to keep that catch? Thanks
I may be wrong, but I just saw a video answering this. I believe if you are fishing on a commercial license, you MUST sell the fish. On a recreational license you'd be allowed to keep ONE per season as a "trophy" IF trophies are allowed at that time
Ernie Tetrault ,Yes indeed , I heard that too,but I also been told by my fellow friend tuna fisherman ,when you fish commercially and after landing a giant you can keep that fish for yourself as long this fish been tagged by a licensed fish dealer . But generally thinking, none of fish buyers will travel to a dock only to place a tag on fish.
So was hoping to hear a solid answer from Captain Phil about this matter.
@@fishingmylife3168 Yeah. typical govt. red tape. Never a clear cut answer
Great question as it can be a little confusing. If you watch our "Intro to Tuna Fishing' seminar in our past videos we broke it down a little better and we showed the different regulations so i would suggest taking a look at that. If it is still confusing give the store a call and we can help! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Certainly will do .Thank you Phil
Can you still fish for a tuna using Daiwa Saltiga 2020 14000XH instead of size 20,000? if so, what would you recommend for how lbs is the main line? Do you have to have a boat in order to catch a tuna? Can you still catch a tuna from a shore some where from the cape code? Why are stickbait mostly use for Tuna rather than striped bass?
I think so. I've got the same reel mounted on a 8' Black Hole CC Nano Popping rod. I spooled it with 500yds of white 65# Maxcuatro. That should be enough Rod, Reel and Line for a recreational size BFT provided the captain and angler do their jobs. Off the rocks, all bets are off. I have a Penn Torque9 spooled with 500yds of 100lb and two other popping rods, but I have no illusions about myself, I'd probably lose a fight with anything over 70# off the rocks. Who knows...you have a great reel for it though. 55# of drag is more than we'll ever use.
