Thank you . Made me cry. I knew exactly were you were except it has changed a bit but I still have my bearing s It’s been at least 30 years . My birth place .
22:05 - 22:16 the view is stunning, how I wish to live there, that beautiful black house, and beyond you can see the mountains. Thanks for sharing, I've been to Nelson in 2015.
Nelson is a very pretty place, a historic town with lots of heritage buildings. It can also be confusing to drive in because of the layout of the roads and because it's extremely hilly here. If your mobility is even moderately compromised, this probably isn't the town for you.
It’s definitely a better place than Trail to live. Castlegar is great for handicapped cause it’s flat and has good sidewalks etc. Trails so Facists they give Zero F’s about disability
Watched this video as part of my virtual trip across Canada in 2021, through Google Maps Street View and UA-cam. When I was very young, our family lived in Winlaw, and a trip to Nelson was considered "going into town". I was too young to remember it, but it's nice to see the town today. Thanks for the video!
I've passed by Winlaw once. The scenery was quite breathtaking. I stayed overnight in New Denver, which is quite close. There's a good Japanese-Canadian Museum in New Denver if you have time to visit. Thanks for watching.
It is sooooo nice to see clear roads without much traffic. The place i stay sometimes takes 30 mins to 1 hour just to drive to reach a place within 10 mins walking distance. Heavy traffic. Yesterday, it took me 1 hour to buy food and return home from a restaurant just about 10 mins walking distance from my house. I am sure you will ask, why i didn't just walk? The whether was too hot.
@@SureFeelsGood I first moved here in 1993 and lived away for 10 years, I've been back for 13 years now. There are fires nearby, but closer to Kaslo and there were some evacuations in the Slocan Valley, but we mostly are just drowning in smoke here. A lot of it is coming up from the States, too. Like any other town we have crime but mostly people know their neighbours, kids walk to school together, etc. Rentals are scarce though, and rents are high, expect an average $800-$1000/mo for a 1 bdrm. If you are in the mind to buy a house here, you can probably expect $400K for a smaller home.
@@clarissathompson I visited Nelson two summers ago and loved it aside from the heat..so I decided to move to Victoria, where I am now. The weather is perfect here for me, but I keep thinking sometimes about nelson's sense of community, and the mountains. And now with Covid closing the homeless shelters, Victoria has been sort of taken over by street addicts..maybe it goes back to normal post covid. I know there is a large homeless population in nelson which suprises me due to how cold your winters are! Is there a big addiction and crime problem there as well? Lastly, do you find yourself having to drive to Trail for medical specialists? thanks
This tour and the age of the city really reminds me of Moose Jaw...like Nelson is almost the Moose Jaw of the mountains. Of course minus a beautiful lake.

Grew up in this city. It was great! My first thought was that this must be a present day tour with everyone observing the rules of self quarantining in the midst of the Corona 19 virus pandemic. I would prefer you do this again a couple of months into the warmer weather. Then you will see lovely floral gardens and trees brightening the landscape. I still spend approximately 5 months during the summer living on the lake @30 K’s north of Nelson. Brrr. Looks cold to me in this video. A very eclectic city but much loved by its inhabitants and those who visit.
I judge a town for livability on a scale from 1-10. The 1-10 scale is how many square body trucks I see. I saw 3 . 19:42 , 30:08 and 30:45 . So Nelson scores a 3 out of ten.

So beautiful and clean. Watching this video is like driving through a picturesque postcard. ❤
Really ?
Yes! I remember my first visit in 2014, I LOVED the big ol wooden houses! 8 yrs later, I'm still here!

Sherri Berri and why dos you let Nelson if you love It?
Beautiful..... Wish I could live here. Thanks for the amazing video.
Very soothing. I like your choice of music tracks.
I used to fly around those streets in my taxi, so fun, so dangerous in winter. Haven't been there for 20 years, want to return soon
This was obviously recorded very early on a Sunday morning. Nelson is typically a very vibrant bustling little city.
I live in Nelson and it’s never this deserted usually it’s very touristy and filled with people on the streets. Usually more traffic as well

We’ve been visiting Nelson in the summer for the past 15 years. Sure wished we could afford to buy a place out there! ❤️
I would not of thought these houses would be worth much,it looks very scruffy to me.
Nelson’s nice but watch out if thinking about surrounding towns many are downright nasty people infested.
