Just stumbled across your video and I really enjoyed it. I have been consigning for almost 15 years now and I make about $1000 a sale - I have 3 kids and routinely consign all of their items and use the proceeds to buy for next season.. We are really fortunate the sale in my community goes all the way up to high school age and I actually make more money on the bigger clothes.. I will miss doing these when they age out
Wow! $1000 is wonderful! I've never made that much, $300 is the most I've ever made but for our small town, I think I'm happy with that. I love consignment and plan on consigning again this Spring!
I'd love to see in more detail how you pin the outfits together on one hanger. I have a bunch of things that are a set or 3 onesies, or an outfit that's two onesies and a pant, and unless I save the fancy hanger they came on, I can't figure it out! :)
+Little Bay Stampin' I know that struggle! My best advice is to get the largest size safety pin you can find and safety pin them through the shoulder area where the fabric is strong. You can also use three hangers and zip tie them together! Hope that helps!
Great tips! Do you allow your clothes to go 1/2 price or to be donated if not sold? All of our local consignment tags show full price, and then yes or no for discount/donate
Gee, 20 to 25 yrs ago, we took our stuff to consignment shops, they did all the bagging, hanging, tagging, and supplied the hangers, etc. work and we just picked up our $ when it sold. I'm obviously out of the loop and dating myself. ;-) Keep up the good work!
Apron Acres This is for a large consignment sale. Consignment stores still run that way. :) These events take place over a weekend at fair grounds or other large venues.
Love this topic! I too am a consignor (gearing up for a sale in a few weeks) so I love to see tips from other sellers! How do you organize the stuff you are planning to consign? I haven't worked out a good method for this, I currently just keep a trash bag in the hall closet with everything I plan to consign but it quickly gets overfilled and makes me crazy.
Momma Allie My system is also "in the works," but I have a large bin to hold the shoes, toys, and smaller items and I hang the clothes in my own closet on the hangers as the sale gets closer. This helps me keep the clothes from wrinkling. I used to have a bin year round, but now I just have a bin that I've labeled "purge" and I do a big kid stuff clean out before each sale as well. It's hard to store stuff that you want to get rid of, but having a bin that closes up looks better to me than a messy pile.
I find these kind of videos so helpful. I haven't tried selling anything yet, but trying to learn before jumping in. If you have used offerup website, that would be a great video too. Thanks for the tips and tricks!
Great video! I have recently sold at a few resale consignment stores and made $220! I have been entertaining the idea of participating in a consignment sale event. Thank you for all of the great tips. -Tai
Mc Kenna The percentage depends on the sale. One I did was 35%, this one is only 30% and the consignor fee is only $7 verses the $10 from the other sale I used to work with. Every sale will have different numbers. I'm anxious to see how going with this other sale will affect my income! :)
You are too funny! I'm going to let some other mom or grandma take this home and be annoyed by it. SO funny...and SO true!! I watched a consignment video by Kathryn (DoitonaDime) and she bought a bunch of maracas, drum, cymbals, etc and said how she loved the musical toys....and I thought, "while their sitting there quietly - I love them do. Problem is - they don't STAY quiet." ;)
Awesome tips, thank you!
You’re so welcome! I still use all these tips when I’m consigning!

Cute video with great tips !
didine256 Thanks so much!
Do you have a video talk about how to clean these items that you buy at the sale?
New subscriber! Great tips!
Bianca Villarreal Thanks so much for subscribing! I'm glad you are here!
I have about 20-25 onesies that my daughter never even wore. Can I sell a few together and charge more or do I have to sell them separately?
saran wrap! Genius!
Lizzy Mosback I'm smart like that. :)
Maybe I missed it, how much (percentage?) do you pay the person who is hosting the show/sale? How does THAT work?
