It’s wild to me people talk about anything resembling a curse with Corey Perry. First of all, he has a Cup. But more importantly, he’s (tied with Scott Niedermeyer ONLY) the biggest winner the sport of hockey has ever seen. They are the only two players to win all six major North American AND international championships. He’s won World Junior Gold, Memorial Cup, Stanley Cup, Two Olympic Golds, World Championship Gold, and World Cup of Hockey Gold. Not to mention a league MVP.
the people who call him curse are the same people who called mcdavid overrated are the same people who will be looking for the next game broadcast on disney+. they have no, but no clue at all
Believe me, they are complete morons who bring this up. Perry is just a complete wealth of experience, even if we don't win he's had a huge impact on this entire Oilers' roster.
He pretty much talked about how influential and important Mcdavid is for the team and when he is on the ice. Compared him with Gretzky but also how popular he is in Canada (understandably) like how Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Nicklas Lidstrom is back home in Sweden
Q: OK we'll take the final McDavid question today, Mattias. Back here. A: Oh hi. Q: Most people following this series back home in Sweden have never been to Edmonton and maybe not even in Canada. Can you try to explain McDavid's status and the hype around him here for the people who haven't experienced it. A: Man that wasn't an easy question. I don't know what to compare it to, it's really difficult, the closest thing I think might be, if you were to compare it to back (home) in Sweden, I mean he (McDavid) is kind of like our Zlatan. Zlatan was- everything he did was in the papers, everything he did on the field was also there (in the papers?). I mean sure he was a completely different individual, he was extroverted and a bit cocky, like that, and believed a lot in himself outwardly. Connor is probably a bit more reserved in that respect but still in the game they're the same type of player, they can completely dominate games. He's as big as you can get here I think. I have no idea how big Gretzky was when he played here but it's probably in that ballpark, and he has really deserved it with the game that he has, and exactly whan you have these big games where things are on the line, he's the guy who's there with his nose, he's the guy who's there with something, I mean all the time, carrying this thing forward. So that's probably the closest comparison I can come up with at least. A: Very good. My second question, I don't think you'll be buying herring and vodka as your pre-game meal tomorrow but I know you have a lot of friends and family with you here, and tomorrow is Midsummer [Swedish holiday celebrating the longest day of the year]. Will there be any kind of Midsummer celebration? Q: Not tomorrow. There might be something today, we might just have a barbecue and try to celebrate a little bit at least, but it's been a long season this year, and that's a very positive thing, so we'll have to try to make up for it when we get back to Sweden, but no there will be no herring and vodka tomorrow.
Yes, because the Swedish reporter asked him to explain for Swedish people how big McDavid is in Canada. They don’t have the same personality at all, he points out, but to compare those two athletes, to give Swedes an idea of how big McDavid is, is the closest he can get.

Nurse is the most useless A in the league
