The goals weren’t going in the first few weeks, but he still looked faster and more engaged than a year ago and helped team win. Then he went on a typical ovie tear before injury put him down. He had a real shot at 60 goals. Now 40-45 will be a huge accomplishment.

You have to factor in the league as a whole got better. I don't think he has better numbers if he played today. Even with all the advancements behind him. Possible controversial opinion. But that's how I feel. You look at defenders and goalies in Gretzky's hayday. Nothing to write home about. The game got so fast, talented, and difficult they needed to essentially nerf defending and goalies.
