Hi. I'd suggest adding some prey fish/shrimp snails etc. To the tank so it can hunt on it's own alongside being fed manually. Also, do you plan on getting it a mate to try to bring the species back to a sustainable number?
Dude this is SICK!!!! LOVE the rocks you did behind the tank. Ties it all together so well, and Casey is as per usual a wizard in decor with those fake plants.
Hi, Chris! I'm from the Philippines, and you've really inspired me to adopt an Asia Minor Tortoise. You really helped me learn how to provide the best care I can for my tortoise. I've even picked up gardening as a hobby, and started cataloguing native plants that are safe to feed. The philippine (and SE Asia) tortoise/turtle scene really needs the info you put out, as there are a lot of "experts" giving out outdated advice (24-hour heat, reptile mats, glass tanks, sulcatas for first-time owners). Again, I'm really really grateful and I really admire the work you and your family does. 🐢💚
Thank you so much for the kind words. I’m glad I’ve been able to help you and yes, I know what you mean. Unfortunately there is still so much outdated, harmful information out there.
Amazing. thank you for educating and sharing for others in your area. I often feel helpless but I get inspired when I see individuals like you with passion along with GST and others. Blessings!
This is the most beautiful build I’ve ever seen. Incredible! RIP Dingo💔 The reptile world and the planet in general will miss your amazing personality. One of the nicest, most genuine people I’ve ever met!
I first got into UA-cam when I happened upon a video of Tanner Serpa-I was blown away by his inventive and meticulous enclosures, not to mention his generosity sharing how he does his builds. Tanner’s aquaria videos piqued my curiosity, and although I do follow a few reptile keepers (Snake Discovery, Adam Wickens, and of course, our recently departed South African friend, Dingo Dinkelman) now my special love is reserved for turtles and tortoises. I feel so very blessed by the innumerable online resources: Clint’s Reptiles, Kamp Kenan, Charlie Moorcroft, and last, but certainly not least, Garden State Tortoise. Like the other conservationists I mentioned, Chris and Casey put 100% of their time and energy into caring for their precious charges, all the while creating interesting, informative, and educational videos for their amazing channel and followers. I hope one day to share my home with a turtle or tort who might find Houston an appropriate habitat. Hey, Chris, would you consider doing a timeshare with Otis? Didn’t think so.😪😿🥰
Didn’t know there was such a small snapping turtle, certainly is cute. Excellent work on his new habitat, look so natural and you just know they thrive from their surroundings. Toad Ranch seems like an awesome creator for cage designs that are well thought out for those who want the best for their animals. Thanks Chris and Casey for taking us along🐢💕👍
What a great looking animal Ego is. I love that you use as much of the surrounding material as you can when doing your builds. Making them more comfortable. What a beautiful enclosure! Ego is going to thrive there! Great job guys ❤
My favorite part of Sunday is new GST!! You guys are excellent at creating enclosure builds that meet all of your animals' needs, the thought and care you put into their wellbeing is evident. Side note, I just moved into a new house that needs painting and I'm feeling very inspired by the green shade in your nature room! Currently hunting for a match from Sherwin Williams 🥰

Great post, and a great terrarium for an awesome looking turtle! I’ve been feeling really down about Dingo’s passing, so I appreciate the upload. In addition to praying for his family, I’ve just been watching animals videos non-stop because I find them comforting and relaxing! ❤🐢
how is it that each and every enclosure is another magical piece of art and natural beauty. You two are amazing! what an incredible enclosure. it is heavenly for Ego the big headed turtle. he is so cute. Blessings.
Platysternon are a dream species.I keep several snapping turtles, hybrid snappers and Narrow Bridged Musks and these are one of the species I can’t wait to care for
In the early 1990s i worked for a pet store that sold Asian Bighead turtles. They were much more interesting than the red eared sliders. I dont remember them being agressive with eachother but they were in a huge encloure built for an alligator.
Very awesome....I don't want to leave anyone thinking that I am picky, I have noticed that Ego has quite a beak growth and the name is great! Thanks for Sharing
Everyone please send positive vibes and condolences to Dingos beautiful young family. They need all they can get, from all over the world. 🙏😭🫂💜 #ReptileArmy☮️
Such a silly lil dude 😭 I love these turtles. They're adorable. Ive known about them for awhile. They're hilarious because of how disproportionate their heads are 🤣😭
Ego is absolutely adorable! And this enclosure is epic! How did you end up with him? And what is the plan? Will you try to breed him in the future? Also, as I always say… A day without Otis is like a day without sunshine 🐢🌞❤️
Chris & Casey 🐢! Boy EGO sure has an incredible enclosure! I hope he appreciates all the hard work you did so he could have a pristine environment. Great job 👍 it was so appropriate for Otis🐢 to stick his nose into your business! He really is the star of Garden State turtles+tortoise 🐢! Thank you for sharing! ❤
Clearly Ego is in extraordinary hands and is happily loving life in his beautiful new habitat, I'm glad you have him and that he's in your care given it's wonderful since you both are special people and he's an endangered species, it'd be cool if one day he gets a girl friend and little Ego's hatch , great learning experience as well as nice to keep this adorable species thriving and helping support the endangered status, you never know, as always thank you!
I love big headed turtles. One of my favorite species as they show one of many ways turtles can go in evolution. I worked with a endangered animal breeding facility that focused on reptiles they had some and were surprisingly intelligent.
Chris, you and Casey do such AMAZING enclosures for your GST residents!! This one turned out beautifully!! Are there any snakes in the Big Headed Turtle range that could share the enclosure? I love your Painted Turtle/Cornsnake enclosure!!
Ego is absolutely hitting it out of the park on the adorable meter for me. This might be because he looks kinda like a mini snapping turtle, and smaller versions of bigger things get extra cute points. I might also be one of the few people that think snapping turtles in general are pretty cute
I can see why they are desirable pets. The mini-shnapper! See if you can't get several to breed and preserve the species! 😊 I live in Spokane, Washington in extremely rocky soil. I have GOBS of gorgeous river rock of all shapes, sizes, patters and colors. Been wondering if any folks need some. I need less rock, more dirt! 😂
I make custom screen frame tank topper enclosures with front screen frame doors Sit on top of any size tank Tall as you wish I bring power inside as well for pumps , heaters , lights , timers As well as fabricated , removable for cleaning , vine curtain rods For back and sides
Last week I visited a friend in Weehawken and LBI and I was like OMG IM IN THE SAME STATE AS GARDEN STATE TORTOISE!!!! But she said we weren’t even in the same county 😢😢😢. She was impressed I’d heard of you. I was like “did you know they were in the Snake Discovery Buildoff??? More than once????? She did not. She was very informed on how to help a turtle cross a road safely though!!
This doesn’t have anything with the turtle that you’re displaying today, but I thought it would be interesting. I was watching another channel called the daily dose of Internet and they showed a giant snapping turtle. Basically a crab was walking by the snapping turtle and it just literally inhaled the crab all of it lock stock and barrel it was just so quick. I didn’t think they moved that fast.
Question, if it is a fresh water turtle and not one who lives close to salt water, can you feed it salt water shrimp? Or has it to be fresh water shrimp?

I was doing some lake front clean up after Hurricane Milton at one of our clients house's an under a pile of cat tails and other lake grasses and was what I thought at first was a rock but it was a box turtle light yellow in color female front and back close up was it an eastern box or is there a Florida box im not sure but i picked it up and moved it a few yards away so no one woult step on it

I am still bawling about Dingo....omg such an incredible loss. he was amazing and loved. RIP Dingo Fly high!!!
Adorable turtle with a gorgeous new “castle.”
Awesome enclosure!!! Great video. Look forward to watching Ego grow up
I appreciate you watching! 😊
Ego is adorable. I love that looooong tail! I hope s/he grows to be happy and healthy. Maybe you'll even find him/her a mate someday.
Thank you for walking us through this build and for educating us on this incredible animal. SO INTERESTING.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! 🐢
Incredible enclosure build!!! Otis needs a little hard hat! ❤
He’s always getting into trouble! 🐢
@lisaferrara8120 Omg, how adorable he would look! 🥰
@@sandyaw3057 That’s why I wrote that!! 😂❤️
A beautiful build. A gorgeous little turtle. I giggled when Otis tried to bite Casey's sneaker.
He's definitely a character!
Beautiful enclosure for little Ego!🐢🐢🐢
Thank you so much!😊
Enclosure builds are the best kind of videos. There is so much we can learn, and get inspiration from
Glad you like them!

Ego and his new home are fantastic. Otis’s cameos are great too, especially when he wants take a chunk of Casey’s shoe. I love your videos.

Well done Toad Ranch, thanks 🙏

I had no idea this species existed. Thank you for posting on it!
I'm glad you learned something new! 😊
I love that little turtle. Animals are so much better than humans.
Especially so right now.

All things considered, I need some comforting right about now-say 4 years’ worth….
Outstanding job on the scaping! 😍
how is it that each and every enclosure is another magical piece of art and natural beauty. You two are amazing! what an incredible enclosure. it is heavenly for Ego the big headed turtle. he is so cute. Blessings.

Otis wanted to check out his new neighbour upstairs 😆😆
This littel think Looks so awesome
☺️🐢
So cute, Little Ego. I enjoyed the information throughout the video. Nice quality. Great vibes.
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Amazing looking enclosure!!! Have you thought of putting a wave maker into there to provide a really strong flow in the front and see if he uses it
Oooh that’s a great idea!
That turned out amazing!! What s great job and your little one seems to love it!
Thank you, we appreciate it! 😊
Thanks for your work!!
I appreciate it!
OMG, he is so cute! He looks like a cartoon turtle with that big head.
Otis: but dad I wanna help & mom your stepping on my home 🤣😂🤣

Ohmygoodness!!! I'm in love. Reminds me of the alligator snapper I rescued and kept til she got to big and gave her a huge marsh to live in.
Thank you for rescuing her!
@GardenStateTortoise she fit in the palm of my hand when I got her. By the time I had to let her free, she couldn't turn around in a 5gallon bucket.
he is so cool I want one!!
They’re amazing
What a cool turtle!!❤❤
What a cute little turtle but I wouldn't wont to be bitten by it! Plus Otis came to help. Oh forgot, first comment. 😀
Haha yep Otis made sure he got in the video
I love big headed turtles. One of my favorite species as they show one of many ways turtles can go in evolution. I worked with a endangered animal breeding facility that focused on reptiles they had some and were surprisingly intelligent.
It's amazing how smart some of these turtles can be!
Love it, such a great way to start my day.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Ego is the perfect name! Then Casey and Chris are Superego but Otis is definitely Id.
😂😂😂
Ego is really something! And then there is the King Otis 😂 he really likes to bite! Was really trying for that shoe and the foot in it! 😂
Slow but steady 🐢
You should install a small smart wave maker that can random simulate rapids and streams intensifying
The environment is really nice. I’m going to build a new environment for my big head.
Love the turtle 🐢, Rip Dingo 💔
Dingo 💔
LOVE seeing and learning about all the different species! BTW any updates on Unit? Hope he is doing well on his new diet!
Chris, you and Casey do such AMAZING enclosures for your GST residents!! This one turned out beautifully!! Are there any snakes in the Big Headed Turtle range that could share the enclosure? I love your Painted Turtle/Cornsnake enclosure!!

Hey I’m with you on that!
He looks like lil bro of snapping turtle 😭😭🙏🏻🙏🏻
yoooooooo that's soo freaking fire
Nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
That turtle is sooo cute! (And deadly if you let it too close to your fingers!)
Otis is the Inspector General. His stamp of approval will be required on all future builds.😂
I can see why they are desirable pets. The mini-shnapper! See if you can't get several to breed and preserve the species! 😊 I live in Spokane, Washington in extremely rocky soil. ❤️
I make custom screen frame tank topper enclosures with front screen frame doors

Tall as you wish

I think Otis wanted to come out & see what you were doing.
Love your work with building enclosures. Didn’t Otis have a Toad Ranch at one point?
He did, but it wasn’t long lived! Haha 😂
He just can’t live like most turtles can so our huge adopted albino jungle boa lives happily in it now. ☺️
@@GardenStateTortoise haha well we all know Otis pretty much owns that entire building in his mind anyway! 😂
@GardenStateTortoise do you have any turtle or tortoise tattoos? :)

That’s wild! Snapping turtles can be surprisingly quick!
Love it. Well you be adding fish etc. ?
You bet we will! Stay tuned!
YES!!!
This guy is a nut in my opinion
You watched and even commented which is all that matters. 😊
Question, if it is a fresh water turtle and not one who lives close to salt water, can you feed it salt water shrimp? Or has it to be fresh water shrimp?
You definitely can feed salt water shrimp, but it should only be part of the diet and not be the bulk of it.
amazing build just curious but would the sand and rocks on the outside not put a lot of pressure on the glass of the fish tank?
Otis has no favorites.
He'll bite either Chris or Casey! LOL
Do you plan on finding a mate for ego in the future ?
Yes, definitely would be great to do that once we are sure of his sex.
This is the most beautiful simulated ecological tank I have ever seen, but it should be noted that the flat-breasted turtle has a strong climbing ability. It can even climb trees and is an expert in jailbreaking. It hopes that you will take protective measures.
OTIS! OTIS! OTIS!!
I was doing some lake front clean up after Hurricane Milton at one of our clients house's an under a pile of cat tails and other lake grasses and was what I thought at first was a rock but it was a box turtle light yellow in color female front and back close up was it an eastern box or is there a Florida box im not sure but i picked it up and moved it a few yards away so no one woult step on it
Can we please get an update on Unit?
Are you going to add any cherry shrimp in the tank? They can breed and the turtle can snack.
SEEING OTIS MAKES ME SOHAPPY
Do you think you’d add either fish or some other animal to this enclosure like the last one?, definitely would give the area more movement/life
Fish are already in 👍🏻
Why are they born so colorful in the first place? 3:22
