Charles Haddon (C.H.) Spurgeon (June 19, 1834 January 31, 1892) was a British Reformed Baptist preacher who remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations, among whom he is still known as the "Prince of Preachers." In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to around 10,000,000 people, often up to 10 times a week at different places. His sermons have been translated into many languages. Spurgeon was the pastor of the New Park Street Chapel in London for 38 years. In 1857, he started a charity organization called Spurgeon's which now works globally. He also founded Spurgeon's College, which was named after him after his death.
Spurgeon was a prolific author of many types of works including sermons, an autobiography, a commentary, books on prayer, a devotional, a magazine, and more. Many sermons were transcribed as he spoke and were translated into many languages during his lifetime. Arguably, no other author, Christian or otherwise, has more material in print than C.H. Spurgeon.

Don’t wonder at Charles Spurgeon. There is no great men of God, but only weak, pitiful men with a great, merciful God. Look at how powerful the LORD is to have done such miraculous work through these men.

This sermon cut right through the darkness of the layers of earth that is above this worms head and shed the light that is guiding my spirit through.
How amazing it is that though one day
I can be on the top of the mountain rejoicing in Jesus’s love and yet another be in a dark earthly hole and still do the same!

This is awesome. For God’s blessings to be manifested in our lives, to receive answers to prayers, it seems we must at times pass through heavy dark trials, wherein consolation deserts us, and God himself appears to desert us. This darkness is to purify our faith: to make us weak in ourselves, and strong in Christ. It is proper-as Spurgeon suggests-that we “fear not” in such instances, as oftentimes the blessing is just around the corner.

How encouraging and all our strength in the current 2021 battle is from Him, He enables us with the Holy Spirit. The bible says 365 times fear not, for every day of the year. Thank you for Spurgeon. I just read his book spiritual warfare and learned so much.

This has been my all-time favourite sermon by Charles Spurgeon since hearing it back in 2020.
I am not a good man God has been showing me how lost I am with my sin my axeity my fear is from the enemie I am sick I need the lord to make me better I cannot get better without a doctor of this world Jesus said he is the great doctor he can make us well if we have faith in him.
"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."
-Proverbs 3:5-6

I used to listen to Kenneth Copeland and he said we are not worms, we are little gods. Some things seemed of the word that Copeland said, other things just don't seem right.

It is Christ who will comfort you. Is Christ your Savior? Have you surrendered all to Him?
I wish that I could come upon a church with a Pastor that preaches this way. The pastors today limits their sermons to 27 minutes to get the congregation out the door to get to the Country Club for lunch or out to the lake to board their boat.
How long did Jesus teach when He gathered the people and how often did he do that..

So many people are being damaged by this fooliness those faithiful that doubt!! and those that look to Heaven for Hope now see those in Fear , The LORD is Our Keep.Remember ;The Fear of man bringth a SNARE, BUT he who puts in ths LORD is Safe. Now for those in the 21 century thinking this is what you are safe from in CHRIST Our LORD, man who in Sin seeks always to deceive in satan the evil one.

As someone entering into ministry...and that relatively late (and moving from one traditon [country extemporaneous primitive baptist ripping amd snorting kinda style) to another [more reserved, more refined, in some way more mature of mainline baptist orientation], as someone introverted, doubtful of self (yet battling with pride knowing a good deal [but knowing and preaching to edify are two different things]). It has bee like being pummeled. Every opportunity that I've had to preach/and or teach has found me on the day before as I go over what I wish this speak on thinking this is not worthy, it won't do. I will never communicate this well. I will speak above their heads or I will babble losing my place or trying to explain something. It seemed, when God first called me, a very romantic idea. I'd seem many passionate fiery eloquent beautiful ministers proclaim God in power and it seemed a lovely idea to do the same.
Then I realized how wretched I am, in faith, so little; in righteousness, so wicked, in ability to communicate aurally and in ways that will make the people hear the Lord, destitute.
Edit: helps to when I've read the great degree of depression and doubt Spurgeon suffered -even to that of his election. From what I've read that we might have said he had some some of depressive disorder. Also me.

Interesting - but much of it doesn't ring true. For if you were truly a worm, you wouldn't even be thinking about God. Some nobility is required for that. That needn't be construed as pride, but rather akin to counting one's blessings. Moreover, since we're children of God, made by God, it is strange indeed to label ourselves "worms" for that would be tantamount to insulting God. What God creates must have some relationship, however imperfect, to God. Are we to say that He fathered worms? Is He then the BIG worm? It seems counterproductive to call people "worms". One can be humble and at the same time acknowledge one is a child of God, and therefore intrinsically noble.
