I remember the first time I saw Sleater Kinney play, it was 96 at La Luna in Portland. Thrones opened up and Carrie, Janet and Corin were standing next to me watching the performance (I was so excited and nervous). The show was amazing and I remember at one point they stopped and addressed the guy in the front that was trying to mosh. They said. "No you can like bob your head and pogo but no moshing, and girls to the front"
I thought it was the coolest thing! This was for the Dig Me Out album. I listened to that CD everyday on my ride to school, I actually used to get harassed by my skater friends about it. But a few years later I saw them again at Crystal Ballroom and ran into a few of those same highschool buddies. They had found the light that is Sleater Kinney! I love how you can hear the evolution and growth with every new album! I live in Los Angeles now, so hopefully when they come to town I can catch them! I ❤ SK!

You know, one of my favorite bands. For sure. I have a question about the feminism ideology. Females (naturally occurring vaginal folks) seem to see equality in being raised to capitalist positions such as CEO or General. Is this not merely a hopeful attainment of aggressive male philosophy in the first place? It's rather sad to see females being pushed into the psychopathy of a patriarchal society in an attempt to acquire equality.

I belive she asked Carrie and Corin, "am I just a drummer to you?" and they said "yes", so she left. I'm a listener since the very first albums and really liked them since the first listen and always loved Corin's superb loud vocals and the interplay between her and Carrie.

she's wrong. it's between 87 and 93. These sorts of subjective ratings aren't as fixed as they used to be, especially art music. Most higher functioning artists create works that are calibrated to work at different loci of space and mood and other contextual effectors.....

This album really lagged, except the Sunshine song. Saw them live - the new songs lagged too. Time to bring back Janet & get rid of the superfluous musicians.
Sorry High in the Grass, not Sunshine. But the song does really make me think of sunshine.
@sydmccreath4554 Having relistened to it, I appreciate more of the songs, a few of which are great. But the last few tracks, starting with Complex Female Characters, I find still lag.
