I am not a connoisseur of great, fine music, I don't know any technical intricacies , but i watch this performance, like, four straight times a couple times a year because I have no doubt Janet Weiss is schooling all of us with this mesmerizing show. The whole group is fantastic...
I lived out west for a while and saw them countless times, including their two shows before they went on hiatus. The three of them together were such a fantastic band, always delivered.
yeah? i,ve got 50yrs of drumming and singing exp. behind me.i sound better on my worst day than they do on their best.yet i,m washing cars for a living and these bitches are on david letterman!!!!! why? because their are white and i,m black!!!!! mother fuckers!!!!!!!
Ever since I read Carrie's memoir I've been watching every S-K video clip I can find. This is one of the best and I assume was their first major US TV performance? I'm not sure I read so much into Letterman calling them girls. Can't you say 'cheers lads' to a band composed of men? You have to recognise when people are calling them by a collective noun, rather than a derogative term like babes or something crass and vulgar like that. He seemed shocked and surprised, the old weirdo.
the weird thing is, i actually discovered portlandia after discovering this band. i just can't remember anyone's name in either case. i assume she's either sleater or kinney.
@Tannis I'm glad you've come to know such a wonderful band. I'm embarrassed for you, for the utter BS of the rest of your comment. I love that my knowledge that people in bands and tv shows have actual names makes me a "hipster."
Yeah, never mind all the praise he heaped upon them. Focus on a term of endearment and read insult into it. "He'd never call a band of men 'boys!'"......... except all the times he has.
@@user-yl1xz7ek7hwhat an insane comment… have you ever seen any of their live performances? Or listened to any of their records? They are both excellent guitarists that are able to perform both live and on recordings.
The incomparable Janet Weiss!
Amen!
She's great!
Now that's how you play drums
Janet is such a fucking great drummer.
"Thank you, girls." Carrie and Corin grin at each other.
Janet Weiss's drumming is fucking torrential!

god these lyrics are so exceptional
Love it when Corin hits the high notes
Sleater-Kinney is the wipped cream on all things good in life, Corin Tucker's voice makes me grin stupidly every time. Just amazing.
When Tucker begins her solo and Weiss is swinging her head side to side it gives me goosebumps every single time. Fantastic...
Janet Weiss is a BEAST!
It's criminal that C and C thought she was "just the drummer,"
That kick drum, like a metronome, awesome.
Janet Weis best drummer ever!

See Carrie and Corin's looks when Letterman calls them "girls"? Ha.
This band is amazing and I love them.
I LOVe the DRUMMER, I don't know her name, She's AGGRESSIVE!!!
Janet Weiss. She's drummed for many an amazing band...Quasi, Elliott Smith, Stephen Malkmus, Wild Flag. She rules.

Where's Fred Arminsen??
Janet Weiss made all the difference. It’s sad listening to new S-K
Everything the Gogos wanted to be.
Avant-garde?? WTF Mr Letterman?
I’m a straight bi girl but I go full gay for Carrie.
You know this is from mid 2000s cause of the bootcut jeans
Those have been popular for at least 20 years
You're off by a decade. 2005.

I tried - I don't get it. Maybe if they learned how to play their guitars.
Oh you dont get it all right
