This guide is probably the main reason im enjoying strive rn just thought i’d let you know :) not a single other guide explained how to have functional gameplay as nago, they all just give a bunch of information that aren’t really understood at face value if you don’t already know how nago plays, you gave us the exact and only info we need to get into it and start learning and practicing straight away, i appreciate that. Good work. Only recommendations might be making cuts to the audio/video to make the information more precise so the video feels a bit less raw and more compartmentalized so it feels more like a concise structured guide with no dead-time (it’s already structured great, so no worries i only mean to make it more “professional” or whatever lol), and maybe very very light background music basically like rath always does in his videos. Again, loved the video. Thanks for solidifying my love for this character and allowing me to enjoy strive more!
Thanks so much! I really tried to make this guide as applicable and straightforward as possible for a person trying to get into the character and it makes me so happy that it’s working for so many people 🥺

Also you add in real scenarios. I will be watching this several times b. GREAT VIDEO SO FAR!!!!!!! OVERDRIVED the sub button.
Nice guide. This ones definitely something special compared to most of the other Strive guides out rn. This guide got me playing Nago as my secondary and in friendlies, so here’s all the extremely useless (but sometimes fun/useful?) Nago knowledge that I have: - The pseudo burst that Nago lets out when blood rage activates can be reflected by Potemkin’s flick, meaning that it’s considered a projectile. (Surprisingly Pot is punishable with super if he does choose to reflect it though?) - There’s an animation glitch that can cause the 236S clone to run back at you when reflected rather than changing textures based on what reflector was used. - Landing a c.S or 5k at round start can lead into a meterless wall break for 200-220 damage depending on how much blood gauge you’re willing to use. Your tension bar will love you, your enemy will not. - If you pull off a 300+ damage combo in your first match against someone, they aren’t going to rematch you :(
The title is true, after studying this I really didn’t need to look up another guide, this covered a great amount on Nagoriyuki and I feel more confident about playing him online awesome job man
Btw for some reason 5P > 6P > 214H > 6H DOES connect because of 5P at the start. Because of the additional pushback the 6H will whiff at lower BL, range also a factor. It's a fat amount of dmg for a 5P challenge/mash, and his 5P hits crouchers.
Yeah, 6P starter will only combo into 214HS on counter hit but if you use a starter and gattling into 6P then it will work fine. Sorry if this was unclear but glad you figured it out :)
I almost quit strive ( my first fighting game ) because how frustrating it is lol. But after i found nago and loving him your guide makes me want to improve more

Bro. I just picked up Nago. I'm Ino main. Pocket zato, millia. I was afraid of managing the blood meter, but I was like, I play zato, so... I can keep an eye on that bar. I played him for an hour.. He is so sick. I haven't made so many goddamn! faces like ever. I did like S, S, S and canceled it into super and it evaporated zato from like 55% health
I gotta thank you for that technique of just holding right and doing a quarter circle for the 624P command grab. I couldn't hit that for the life of me until I tried your method.
I watched Hotashi to see what you were talking about, and within like 3 minutes he had already taken out 85% of an opposing Nago's healthbar with a combo he called "The Slobberknocker"
"They want to mash, but if you convince them to not mash they won't, and that's when you grab them." Chef's kiss. Any tips on the DP input? Really struggling to get it consistently.
I love how you say that “pros use it for ___” even though you yourself say you may not utilize it that way instead of just saying how you use it. A lot of guides end up just showing off how someone plays a character without showing multiple ways/sides of playing a character
I've played excessive amounts of OW so I knew what you meant when you said "ult". It honestly makes more sense considering Marvel/Killer Instinct. An ULTRA/ULTIMATE combo. 🧠 "Super" sounds more like 1 really strong special (which he has in rage, but obvi every cutscene in the game is a "super"). Of course, SF popularized the term so now it's common despite the logic/lack thereof. 🤷♂️
Ive been following this guide for months now, and I finally entered celestial today... failed the challenge lol but hey! I am still learning and thanks to this it's just a matter of time!
maybe you wont see this, but im a super scrub. and I like it when guides use the combo recipe. I have a difficult time telling when my combos hit or the time delay between them. Using the guice helps me visually it better. I know I should learn notation though.
j.D is useful against Faust, Millia, Zato and Chipp MUs in neutral, if they like to keep jumping away. Especially against Faust it's great for calling out bombs. The other MUs are more situational, since Millia and Chipp like jumping on top of you, and against Zato you're usually in range for 2H if they're flying instead.
def gonna take a look at this, but since im new to fighting games step one is gonna be not whiffing my inputs lmao. My more experienced friends are always confused when i TP in front of them and stand still and its always just me whiffing my command grab.
Hold forward during your fukyo then input a quick quarter circle forward P when you are close enough to grab. If you are inputting the grab while they are still waking up it will miss so time your grab with their wakeup animation (I show this in the video). If done right you can beat throw, a sloppy mash, any slow button mash, DP, and some overdrives.
Really, your step 1 should be just getting a feel for Nago. He glides around when you use his warp move, but moves like a deadweight when he's just walking. But on the bright side, you don't have to grind dashes or running - can't practice what's not in his toolkit, lol.
Dude. After any grab, try going for a fwd+k and it should put you in the same oki as the fwd command dash without worrying about your gauge. This goes for regular grabs, too. It also looks like a whiffed punish which catches people off guard so they try to mash. That's where the fun begins. If you go for a 5p or 2p, it should beat even a 3 frame button. Also, l swear by 2k -> 2d -> fwd hs. It's a nice -50~ gauge and is hard to punish, if you even can. It gets a lot of people.
Don't take this as a bad thing, but I really appreciate that you're advanced but not pro? Better than average, way better than me, but not so good that I can't understand what you're doing. It's super helpful to see your misinputs because you didn't edit this.

But I watched this directly after picking the game up last week and I’ve made solid progress! Question I have tho is about the corner combo.
