Went here on holiday every year with my family as a kid right up until I was 16. And then a few years ago took my own kids there. Brilliant memories - the Amusements, the free tennis court, a pot of coffee in the Golf Hotel, cream jam doghnuts from the cake shop on the corner that's now a chippy, Blakeys disco, Fort Laramie at the Solway Lido Holiday Park, driving on the cobbles - the list goes on and on.

I moved to Silloth when I retired three years ago from the north east. It is as lovely as you portray, and yes, you have to have a dog, everyone who lives here has a dog!!

Back in the 60's was in a band who regularly played at Silloth Lido. Had some great night's there. Always enthusiastic friendly audiences. We came from Blackburn area so quite a long journey but well worth it!

Loads missed !! Errrrr......They still have the airbase which because of its famous history and all the work it did in the war effort for Britain is worth a visit/drive past! It is vast, it holds a massive car boot sale every Sunday. Many planes crashed into the Firth that you are stood by either on their return or practice runs that it became known as Hudson Bay (Canada). A pleasant walk from the very far end of the coast road from Skinburness around Grune Point past the same firth is a great walk, the pill box (used to be two) from the war years are still there, sorry, one is, well worth a look. Can see Victorian lamps are installed around the green now, that is a new addition. Mount Criffel is shown at the coast there with a fine view of Scotland on a fine day, the odd times one can see the actual green fields! What about the old police station that would be worth a showing and it is right next to where you filmed. Are the allotments still there, they are worth a viewing as not many of them survive now! Well you said say if I had missed anything (words to that affect) I better stop now or you will have no space left.
PS Silloth 40ish mile awy from Keswick town, close to Cockermouth, all the area well worth a visit!

We had a good week in Siloth back in the 90's when the kids were little. We stayed at a campsite but can't remember the name. We loved it there.
You have made us decide to pay another visit post lockdown. 👍

Ahhh, shame. I know of it but it wasn't running as a hotel in its latter years it was a nursing home methinks. We just will never get these types of building again, so very sad they have gone as their replacements are mainly dreadful.

Hi mate, been watching your vlogs for a while now and was wondering if there's any chance of a video that's like a top 5/10 of UK lockdown friendly holiday recommendations? Our holiday abroad has been cancelled and now things are opening up again we think it would be nice to go somewhere in the UK in a few months if pos! Would really appreciate the advice. Thanks a lot - that'll do! Haha

Hi Sam. Thanks for the comment. To be honest I’m in the same situation as you. Had our summer holiday cancelled by British Airways just yesterday (although we kind of knew it was coming) and we’re now looking at somewhere to go in August in the U.K. ourselves. It’s an interesting idea for a vlog. Cheers. Paul 😀
