- As an exception, Leeuwarden Air Base was open on Sunday morning. On this morning, 6 F-35 fighter jets left for Nellis AFB in America to participate in the well-known international exercise Red Flag. Good luck to the participants of this exercise.

Interessant. Dank je voor het delen. Ik heb een vraag aan je als het mag. Die 7e die niet vertrok, waarom vertrok die niet? Ik weet dat je in de omschrijving 6 toestellen zegt, maar die 7e snapte ik dus niet. Ik ga in ieder geval abonneren. Want dit is fascinerend. Dank je nogmaals!
Goed gezien idd er zijn 7 F-35's zichtbaar. De laatste F-35 was zoals men dat noemt de "spare". Deze staat gereed om eventueel in te vallen wanneer er een F-35 na take off genoodzaakt is om direct terug te keren door wat voor reden dan ook dan zal de spare kist deze vervangen. Leuk om te lezen dat je bent geabonneerd op mijn kanaal en wens je veel kijkplezier 😊👍
@@32tfs Dank je wel. Ik heb me vooral bezig gehouden met burgerluchtvaart. Maar zie dat ik dit ook heel fascinerend vind.
Leuk, zelf ben ik zoals je ziet meer militaire luchtvaart georiënteerd dit heeft te maken dat ik dichtbij vliegbasis Leeuwarden woon waardoor ik hiermee besmet ben geraakt.

At the google earth it looks like both of the runways are closed and has an X on it. Also what's the point of the bell ringing before takeoff? Lastly great video ❤
The photos on Google Earth are from last year when the runway was under maintenance. The bell you hear is a warning bell mounted on a traffic light along a road at the air base. The function of this is to stop moving vehicle traffic so that it does not drive around the runway when aircraft take off and/or land. So it serves as a safety measure.

Don't they need external fuel tanks on these long flights?
As paradoxical as it may seem, no. The F-35A has a larger maximum fuel load than an F-16 with 3 external fuel tanks (1 centerline, 2 underwing) and flies more efficient without external loads. But while crossing the Atlantic, the aircraft probably will receive in flight refueling.
Indeed as @Pincer88 wrote they did the trip by using an A330 MRTT Tank plane for aerial refueling. Besides that they did stops at Lajes and Burlington AFB. Thanks for watching 😊👍

Was zekers in het kader van de zoveelste oefening dat de boys op zondag de lucht in gingen?
Dit was aangekondigd in de buurt mail aan alle omwonenden sterker nog er waren ook wat omwonenden wezen komen kijken.😊. In de beschrijving van de video kan je lezen wat de reden was om op zondagochtend te vertrekken 👍
