    Japanese anenomes are tough to get rid of.
    The long root stems seem to regrow, even if you think you've dug them out.
    Good luck with that job.
    Love the idea of white hydrangeas on either side of your walkway.
    It will be stunning in summer and throughout all seasons.
    Love the birds...I have Bertie blackbird who follows me when I'm weeding and they seem to find the worms, so easily.
    Jo😊
    You get overwhelmed too. Glad I'm not the only one. I have lists upon lists to do, but little by little, is the way to go, and you've made so much progress already.

    Regarding raspberries. What ee did was split and spread them throughout the garden in the rear of the shrub beds. They produce a great bright green foiliage and are ideal for snacking on as you walk the garden in the evenings.
    Chop them back and they bounce back.
    Cannot emphasise enough - buy slow growers and dwarfs.
    When we set our gardens out (20yrs ago) we did this and for the initial extra expense, it was worth it. We membrained the areas and planted through the membrane and mulched with good quality tree bark. Lasts for years and looks tidy.
    Other areas we planted budelija for a controllable summer splash and food for the bees and butterflies & eye candy for around the sitting areas.

    Thank you for sharing your tasks! I feel like my to-do list gets longer and longer. I have to try and adjust my expectations based on my available time and energy. Your hard work shows in the garden - it is beautiful, even in winter/spring form.

    You’re making me itching to get out to my own garden and do the same but we’re still a full month away here in southwestern Ontario Canada, as I look out the window to a snow covered garden. Gives me time to sort out seeds and start sowing annuals and perennials indoors under grow lights. Your videos are always inspiring.

    Lovely video. How exciting we're all heading into spring. We have had awful floods and rain here in SW Wales, we had 260% our monthly average in February alone. I hope you haven't had as much.
    I look forward to following your year.

    It’s nice to see you out in the early spring garden. With all the changes and additions to the garden made by your husband and yourself, I look forward to this season’s videos. Love to see that you immerse yourself fully in the work and not afraid to show that it can be a dirty process. It is currently 16F in my garden, so it will be another month before I will be out doing spring cleanup in my small gardens.

    It's worth getting the circular brush attachment for any pressure washer, does a great job, takes less time and uses a lot less water.
    Garden coming along nicely.

    Hello! SE Pennsylvania Zone 6B. I am anxiously waiting for all the snow to melt to work on my flower beds. I was able to clean up a little during the January thaw. Staying focused on the task at hand is key, or it gets overwhelming. My new projects this season include edging and mulching a new Japanese garden I planted in the Fall and a new (small-sized) Jekyll border. Thanks so much for your content - I am always inspired. Let the games begin!!

      @@MurphysGarden ahhh May IS the best indeed! I still have snow that’s covering all my garden at the moment so spring arrives late for me. Zone 5b, Rocky Mountains. However my daffodils and Camassia are trying their hardest to pop up and out😁. Only time will tell before they are fully here.

    I love all your videos! 💐 and I specially appreciate you showing us your garden in the winter time! I get to draw so much inspiration from each of the rooms you've created and how they are structured, your plant choices, evergreen vs deciduous, color, texture, etc.
    I garden because it feeds my soul. and always have something to look forward to 🌿🌺
    My goal is to have a garden that is peaceful, interesting, ever changing, and rewarding. Your videos uplift me when I'm feeling stuck or defeated by a challenge. Thank you for that!! 💐
    I garden in Kissimmee, Florida zone 9b with subtropical summers and temperate "winter" so plants here must be able to survive the intense heat and humidity for at least 8 months of the year, the ocassional frost in January and dry spells in spring... oh and very sandy soil! 😅😅

    This gardener talks without taking breath constant no gaps onward. Real live wire . I garden alone talk to my cat and to plants if they listen . Art and craft Edwardian gardens have taken me 12 years of day by day progress. Just wait now for hedges to grow to 10 foot high all around and to each large room in the six with avenues water features ,stone figure fountain and lily pond and bridge Japanese arch . It is work of love .Yours Sir Kevin Parr Bt

      My husband thinks your comment is hilarious 🤣 and says you should try living with me! I realise that I talk too quickly because my videos are a nightmare to edit because I don’t come up for breath!! Can’t help it, I’m always in a rush as I’ve just got so much to do!!!
      Your garden sounds fantastic, where in the UK are you? Talking to your plants 🌱 definitely encourages them to grow and isn’t a sign of insanity as some suggest!🤪
      Happy gardening

    I love your garden! Every area is so beautiful! Your hard work really shows. Do you have any problems with moss in your lawn? Just noticed I have quite a bit this year. Wondering if I need to take care of it now or wait till spring. Any products you could recommend?

    • @MurphysGarden
      @MurphysGarden  6 місяців тому

      I have put your question to our lawn expert (hubby) and yes we have lots of moss too due to wet winter weather. I have requested he do a video on this subject, hopefully soon! He uses diluted ferrous sulphate spray (avoid getting it on hard surfaces as it stains), he will be doing this soon. He then scarifies it to remove the moss. Keep a look out for this video 🤞and many thanks for watching

    Have to be careful with ton of farm manure.I had a load but found so much grass and weed seed in it took four years to rectify the damage .I have 5 acre into garden rooms

    • @MurphysGarden
      @MurphysGarden  6 місяців тому

      Yes, we had horse manure in the past and introduced a big nettle problem. The stuff we used this week has come straight from the barn and is mostly straw and it’s good stuff. I certainly wouldn’t use it in the main flower borders but it will be ideal to add organic matter to our sandy soil in our new area.
