Is it weird that I love your pen reviews most of all 😂 I’ve watched all of them multiple times and not just when I’m looking for new pens lol I just love how clear they are and you check all of the boxes in every review question wise 🥰
You should add mildliner highlighting as one of your tests! Because based on this review, I would assume that it might not smudge under a mildliner like the Pilot G2 pens do. But on the other hand, they don't have a 0.38 and Pilot does. Much to think about. LOL Thanks for the review!
Excited about these because I have never like the G2 in black. The ink seems different than the blue G2. I’m hoping the availability gets better with these sharpies as people buy them!
Compared several gel pens today. My opinion Pilot G2 0.7 is the king of gel pens. Bic Gelocity 0.7 and the Pentel EnerGel 0.7 very close behind. Sharpie S gel was my least favorite out of all I tested. Just my opinion. Enjoyed your video!!!!
For better or worse, I really like when my pens are permanent and archival especially for bullet journaling. That's one of the reasons I love Uniball pens. I do NOT understand why Sharpie (like THE permanent marker brand) decided to make pens that are not strongly permanent?? Weird. That being said I think they look pretty cool actually and I would like to try them but I probably won't buy them
I agree. I don't know why Sharpie wanted to enter the gel pen market; it's already SO saturated, and these don't bring anything new at all. The whole point of the Sharpie brand is the implication of permanence. It makes no sense. 🤷🏻♀️
Uni0ball Signo RT1 in 0.28 is amazing me - so smooth and dries by the time my hand goes over the previous words I wrote (lefty). Though they're quite pricey, my favorite alternative is the Zebra Sarasa Clip* (Japan import) in 0.3 in the color blue-black. Obsessed
I write down a LOT of important stuff. And although the actual risk of water damage and fading in my home office is low, it gives my comfort to write with truly waterproof ink (same for checks). I use Uniballs only.
The performance and fairly quick drying of these Sharpies kiiiiiinda reminds me of the Zebra Sarasa Dry/Speedy/SE. Have you ever had those in the pen battles?
I think everyone is raising good points about the highlighter test. But they look pretty impressive. I wish they were permanent gel ink (if that even exists). It could be a new contender for writing on KAD stickers.
I don't think they're permanent - permanent, but the Uni-ball Signo 207 and 307 are marketed as fraud (eg., counterfeit washing) resistant. I like the 307 alright, but it's more of a normal dry time which means occasional smudging for lefties like me. Hope that was helpful!
I would like to know Kat's opinion. It seems like the smear happened on the very last letter written where there is NO time for drying. The lefty reviews on Amazon seem to be positive, so a trusted lefty opinion would be helpful. Also how does it hold up to Mildliner over it?
I tried it, and as a sketching pen I thought it was pretty bad. Super great flow coming out of it, but if you sketch with your hand draging on paper it will smear for sure. (gah ink on my hand right now) I really wanted to like it :(
@@TheArtorres Honestly I keep going back to either a Bic, or my favorite has been the Micron with a felt tip (I think it's the pn tip). I just get super annoyed that those microns dry out so fast, but other then that I love the PN tip :)
Question! I noticed the black Sharpie fineliners are more of a dull black almost dark gray than a saturated black. Did you notice that with the gel pens? From the video, it does look like the Sharpie gel pens aren't as opaque as the G2, but that might just be because they're less inky.
I used to hand these out for students to complete tests and would only get about half of them back because they liked them so much they stole them. Needless to say I STOPPED handing them out! It is a fantastic pen!
My problem with gel pens is they smear so bad with highlighters, so I was hoping to see some highlighting. I switched back to ballpoint for my Planners and for work.
Was using one of the sharpie gel pens for work.. started leaking in my pocket 3-4 days into using it..I had to throw it away... I bought the 2 pack gna try the second pen and hope it works out better... If it does work it's a great pen
I am a sucker for the Energel pens. In the 1.0 tip. They have a juicier ink but I love them. I like the look of these sharpie pens... I hope they make a broad tip option.
thanks! i have missed your pen reviews! I love your reviews-heck you could review a pile of dirty laundry and I would totally watch it and like it! lmao
I've been able to get my hands on the blue (fav), white, and black plastic barrels as well as the gray (fav) and champagne gold metal (fav) versions. I've used the 0.5 (fav) and 0.7 tips in both blue (fav) and black ink. The blue barrel appears pearlescent which I like and prefer. The metal barrel is slightly heavier, feeling more substantial in my hand. The grip section is comfortable to hold (for my small hands/slim fingers), the ink is dark, the tip is smooth, the retractable button stays down and in place when the tip is extended (a feature I appreciate), and is compatible with favorite refills, i.e., the Zebra JF, Pentel Energel LRN/XLRN, and Uni SXR-38/5/7/10. The one thing I would have preferred... the font of the "S-GEL" branding and the tip size number to be smaller and located in a less conspicious area, like the back of the barrel placed flush with the metal ring at the base of the grip section. I don't mind the "Sharpie" branding as it's in a "cute" font. Overall, I prefer a more "cleaner" look. Now, to get my hand on the purple and green ink. Amazon offers a 12/pk in purple, but I'm hoping for a 2 or 4/pk release, in case I wind up not digging the color.
My exasperation with other pens for cartooning seems to have come to an end. Like dating the wrong people, I finally found someone I can be with that won't drive me crazy. Sharpie S-Gel - I think I love you. - Franco Twinkie
I have no problem with gels on my Leuchtturm A5 - I have no idea what paper they use in the smaller notebooks, but there is a def difference. The G-2 ink has a longer dry down time.
I tried these pens in my Leuchtturm 1917 and my exceed bullet just last week . The pens didn't bleed but they do ghost really bad. I found them at Staples . These are inky pens as well.
Really helpful review! I love gel pens, except for all that smearing. I think I wouldn't like the Sharpie ones, though, because when they're sitting upright, you can't tell which color you're grabbing! It's very sleek and stylish, but not exactly practical (for me).
I understand the struggle of not finding something new in your town's stores. I live in a very small town about 40 minutes away from Albuquerque and I never find new stuff at the Walmart here. I just got the 1.0 at Walgreens in a two pack for $6...very impressive!!
Being left handed made me a picky pen person. The sharpie s gel is the best pen I've used & it writes so smooth.
As a left-ee I can relate, I usually love thick pens and it makes my handwriting smoother, since you wrote this I’ll be purchasing them.
I'm the one too, having Sharpie S-Gel and Zebra Sarasa Dry and I'm satisfied with them both
