As a Brit it's so nice to see and hear an American as respectful and knowledgeable as Steve. And thanks for using the correct terms when you handle British cars (bumpers, indicators, petrol, bonnet, boot etc ) and even pronouncing carburettor correctly. Saying you are now going to do the fiddley bits brought a smile to my British face
Good for you, mate ! (I'm Canadian)
Looking forward to seeing the MGA running about town !
Wow! A free Pencil, too! That makes all the expensive work worthwhile.....
Another beautiful car for your collection!
You could see this was a diamond in the rough from first sight and she's really looking very nice indeed . Great stuff Steve.
I own a 59 MGA with a 327 Chevy in it. You video has inspired me to get her running again.thx.
Hello Cathy! Nice to meet you!
my name is Steve too, and i’ll never forget my MG , i had an MGB also. and drove a hatch back, those were the days my friend
Good video. The MGA roadster is a car I never get tired of looking at. That is a very good example and the body looks to be in excellent condition with all the correct panel alignment.
The seats will be fine for another 20 years, don't worry about them. Just drive it.
It is one of the best looking MG's ever made. And I'm speaking as an owner of 2 MG B's!
@@alexgallacher5720 I had a 1968 MGB I think in 1973 for a short while, but moved on to a Lotus . Very reliable if maintained properly. Now I have a 1960 MGA and a just fully restored 1979 Midget. I would like to restore an MGB.
They are great fun.
@@awalk5177 Nothing like driving on a quiet road late in the afternoon or early morning with the top down. I am jealous of your MGA - I still think it is one of the best looking MG's of all time. Not as much room under the hood to work on - but I could put up with that, if I could afford one!
@@alexgallacher5720 Yes one of the best looking cars although I do love the MGTF ( in black)
Love the bell bottoms.
Great car - nice to see Steve and Cassie working together!
Well done Steve and Cassie! Looks great.
This is a very sexy machine ,all you need is a thorough polishing to reveal its original red beauty which MGA is known for.....Mechanical wise is all taken care of by you already Steve and this machine should be an eye-catching machine on the road soon with you on the wheel........! Well done Steve.....
Miss Cassie is the Queen of Chrome, such loving attention! The MG-A was always the prettiest of all the MGs, that one's a keeper, surely.
A thing of beauty. And that's just Cassie.
I owned 1500 MGA in my younger years. Wire wheels, rag top. Fond memories. These cars were designed to race on weekends and drive to work during the week. Fun to drive. Enjoy.
So nice that your gf is into cars too and likes to help you out working on them as well as having fun with your collection too.
Yep! Pls continue with the MGA saga...great to watch!
Boy that reminds me of the ‘61 MGA I had. Kathy did a great job on that chrome. Great channel Steve. Thanks Sorry I said Kathy not Cassie. Old ARMY disability of poor hearing.
Hey it’s okay! It’s not the first time!
Absolutely gorgeous car. Steve....you did a great job at bringing it back from the brink.
Oh I miss my two MGAs... This thing is coming alive! I was impressed at how solid everything was. I had some significant rust on the frame rails on last one and the trunk floor pan was replaced. I appreciate how methodical you are about running down problems. Thanks for the series. I look forward to future editions.
What a brilliant series of videos, reminding me of my old MGBs and tempting me back into MG ownership once again. I love the simplicity of these cars! 👍
This looks fantastic .. Good Luck Fiddlin' A bit of info on the newer bits of the 1960 models.. the larger engine , front disc etc.. Performance tunig even if stock would be great to watch!!
Love the MGA videos. Hope to see more.
An amazing transformation already. Looking forward to the fiddly bits and a good road test at the end of it.
Excellent video as always. I do like this series on the MGA but the ones on the Sprites, Midgets, and Alpines are also fun to watch.
Yes please I have an mga and your videos are very useful when I’m working on her
Thanks for another great episode of the MGA. Look forward to see your efforts at "fiddling" or "sorting" the car. This critical step may be tedious, but it is so critical for completing the project. Thanks Steve!
What a transformation.
very nice looking MGA
Thanks Steve, I'm quite envious. This Aussie has always wanted an MGA but has ended up with Jaguars, so no money left for an MGA! 😂 I love my Jaguars which keeps my part British heritage intact.
Which Jags do you have?
@@ThisWeekWithCars Hi Steve ... 1965 S-Type, 1974 XJ6 Series 2 (same color as your Series 1) and 1993 XJ 40. Cheers, Ken
@@ThisWeekWithCars I have photos of them in my Facebook (same name as here) 'Your Photos' section or I can attach them to an email.
Looking very Good. This is going to be a very nice car.
Loved my MGA and regret selling it but I had fallen in love with tossing Sprites and Midgets around at the time. Don't know how BMC did it but without a side wind the MGA was probably the nicest driving car with the top down of any top down car I have owned. Wind buffeting was at a minimum.
Sweet ride
Zoom zoom !
Woah! A free pencil!
Thanks bringing the vehicle back to life. As always enjoy your no fuss attitude.Joe
Always a joy Steve. Thank you.
Looks like a great starting point to make it a useable classic. I certainly vote for getting it to that point and will enjoy watching the process.
Thanks, this has been an enjoyable series of videos. The A is looking quite presentable now - a good driver. Underneath there's a lot of rust, but it's clear that for now your intention is to have it as a driver to enjoy. 👍👏
Great job
Almost showroom condition especially as Cassie did the chrome and you cleaned the seats. What you will need now Steve is a little patience for the fiddly bits. Thanks to you both for a great video. 👍 👍
That MGA is on remarkably good condition! Very nice.
Even though it was the Mark ll Sprites that pulled me in, I grew a Fondness for the MGA. It's Front end reminds me of a cross between a XK-120 & a Mark ll.
Quite a transformation! Well done!
Beautiful little car, thank you, peace.
She's a beauty.
The car's quite nice too.
Its looking great Steve, definitely more mate.
Very nice MGA, cleaned up well.
Wow that car looks so good for that polishing. Great channel really enjoy following your projects.
New subscriber, will be very interested in this restoration project , have one sitting in shed waiting for me to give it a bit of love again. Cheers mate
Great job Steve ! 👍🇨🇦
Looks good Steve - Waiting for the next episode - Take care.
Wonderful stuff! More please!
I've dreamed of opening a barn to find an MGA with a straight body, perfect gaps and shiny paint!
great stuff thanks
looks great
If I were doing a restoration, I think cleaning the car would be the first thing I do. Look at all those parts you found, plus when you clean a car you see it in detail.
More MGA please.
NICE !!!!
Like Toyota says: "Let's go somewhere!"
This is your niche!
Hey steve, you have one of the best car channels on UA-cam! Great job on the MGA! And do more videos on it pls. If you have an opportunity, could you show us how to change/fix/replace things with the sprite heater box/switch/heater valve? And diagnose problems. Thanks for a great channel. How do I get a “this week with cars” hoodie and tshirt. I clicked on the link but it doesn’t give me the opportunity to purchase.
Thanks for letting me know! Try this: this-week-with-cars.creator-spring.com
Thanks for a great video Steve love the MGA! Too bad there was not more chrome to clean :)
That’s what I said!!!
-Cassie
Best looking MG ever, although I would have wire wheels instead of the current ones👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hi Steve ! Nice car. My 2 cents: for cleaning around the car, even the tires and engine compartment, you may try Spray Nine.
The stuff stinks (to a degree) but is awesome on grime, even motor oil & grease. Your tires will look as new with none of that dumb shiny look.
It's really a great product ! It demands a good rinsing though.
More fine tuning of the MGA 🙏
Definitely a nice driver quality MGA. Looks like it was kept up over the years including a somewhat sloppy repaint. I can't stand when I see over-spray on wiring! The over-spray on the rear tail light assemblies is also very evident since the rubber gaskets on the fender are now red instead of plain black rubber.
Nice car
More Please
Hello Steve, @ 1: 40 after you had finished washing the car , you should have used the very British expression " it's brass monkeys " to say how cold it was . Another excellent video , thanks .
I'd be a bit cautious using SOS pads to clean chrome lest it scratch it. Maybe those green fiber pads would be less aggressive.
Had one just like it but wire wheels and knock off hubs . I wish I never sold it but some guy said the right number .
High gloss tire dressing is generally bad for the tires due to the chemical used, drying out the rubber and shortening tire life.
That is a Concourse Car already!
Hi Steve, great job on the MGA, can't wait to see you turn it into a top notch car. By the way what is the name of the song? Catchy tune. 👍
Car is looking very nice. Is that left-hand front bumper bent, or is one of the mounting brackets out of alignment? it should fit the body better than that.
Where did she get the hoodie? It looks exactly like my 1990 Bronco, green with tan top and everything.
Sweet little car coming along nicely, but I couldn't help thinking that the new sidelight unit looked like flimsy aftermarket junk ?
They don't seem any better or worse than the ones that were on there. Biggest difference is the Lucas lettering from the original were not in the new lens.
Are the bumper overriders upside down? On Austin Healeys theyre turned the other way.
This is correct for a MGA. I doubt these have ever been removed from the bumper.
I would have thought the first thing to do before you start any work' is to clean the inside and out side and steam clean the engine bay cheers
I own an identical MGA-red with black trim and whte piping-other than it has wire wheels and is RHD. It had a body-off restoration 30 years ago. Yours is in remarkably sound and original condition. I assume a West Coast or Southern car?
No just been sitting in a barn in Iowa for 40 years.
Where are you located?
What is Cassie's go-to music while working?
I listen to everything. Last night I was listening to Shinedown 🎶 and a few other rock bands.
@@surpriseletsplay Shinedown. 🙂 Something ironic there.
Great car. I miss my MGA. Do you ever do anything with Fiats? Specifically the 124 Spider?
Yes the one I have now I have owned for about six years and have probably owned five.
Below
Get that reliable , and I bet you could just drive that and enjoy, without the paranoia of stone chips and clumsy people getting too close.
Product placement a bit obvious..
please get that front bumper adjust or straightened, it keeps grabbing my attention
Yep! Pls continue with the MGA saga...great to watch!
