- Frankie Rodriguez and Joe Serafini (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) perform ""A Whole New World"" from Aladdin (1992), in the first-ever #DisneyPlus ""This Is Me"" #Pride Celebration Spectacular.
Produced in partnership with Disney Music Group and the Disney PRIDE Employee Resource Group, the assembled team of host, performers, director, and producers is predominantly comprised of members of the LGBTQ+ community, with the support of allies.
The Disney+ ""This Is Me"" Pride Celebration Spectacular is raising awareness for GLSEN, a nonprofit that The Walt Disney Company is proud to support, which works to ensure that LGBTQ+ students are able to learn and grow in a school environment free from bullying and harassment. Oh my, the way they smiled at each other the entire time! This was absolutely precious! I love the painted nails, they are super cute! Way to go Disney, this is incredible. This would NEVER have been a thing when I was this age. We are definitely progressing.

Joe is not the beast because Seb is dating Carlos who had a hand in the casting and does not like sharing the stage so pushed for him to be in an unimportant role. It's not officially been confirmed but its obvious based on who carlos is as a person.

My favourite part of the celebration, Aladdin was one of my favourites when I was a kid. I'm almost 40 and I still hope I see the day when a moment like this, a story like this, between 2 boys, happens for real in a major Disney animated film. Not just a 3-second side character, or in a Hulu show or movie, or an ABC show, or in a 20th Century Studios movie, or something created just for Disney+, or a film whose story can be interpreted as an allegory for coming out like Luca, but a big theatrical release animated film from Disney that focuses on a gay relationship. A gay Disney prince story would be amazing. Things like this Pride Celebration are a start but I know the chances are slim of it ever happening while there's still dependence on box office dollars from places like China and more religious and conservative areas of the world but I can still hope it happens one day.
Thanks Disney. When I was a teen, there was nothing like this, and I am glad it came to be in my lifetime yet. :)
