- We made it to the Pueblo Mágico, Tequila in the state of Jalisco during Mexican Independence Day weekend. The town was hopping and lots of the famous agave spirit was consumed. But the highlight of our stay was a last minute visit to the legendary Fortaleza distillery where we learned all about the process of making tequila the old-school way.

We’re Sean and Elliot, two thirty-something former musical theatre actors and restaurant industry veterans with a passion for food and travel.
In 2015 we got married, said goodbye to our acting ambitions, quit our day jobs, and decided to spend our honeymoon on a one-year Working Holiday Visa backpacking throughout New Zealand. That once-in-a-lifetime experience changed our perspective and opened us up to the possibility of long-term travel.
2020 was a brutal year for us, but it gave us the opportunity to rethink our priorities and commit ourselves to our dream of traveling the world together. So in August of 2021, we sold all of our stuff and bought a one-way ticket to Mexico with the plan to travel for as long as we possibly can.

I haven't open my fortaleza yet,it's actually my first bottle. I think I'll keep it, an drink the next bottle I get,which will be next week,hopefully
The ruins are amazing. Would love to see it. The restaurant looks wonderful. Sean did we forget the sun lotion. It’s funny.

Great video. I've been to Tequila before and am planning a return trip for a few nights in April with some friends and want to show them the La Fortaleza Distillery. Was the food they provided for you by their lake the package they offer on their website? Just curious about that because I think my friends would enjoy relaxing a bit outside versus just touring the distillery.
Yes! It was included in our tour package. When we emailed them they sent us the description of 3 tour packages. We picked and paid for the middle option, but it sounds like we did the most expensive option. Maybe bc we got grouped with 2 others.
Definitely worth the visit!

We visited Tequila for the day when we were in Guadalajara years ago and we always wanted to return to stay for a few nights, and since my friends love Tequila and really don't know much about Mexico other than beach destinations, I thought they would like Guadalajara and Tequila. Thanks again and I look forward to following your travel adventures. (I already emailed La Fortaleza and just waiting for their reply)
