The Scene where Keanu Reacts to Harry's death was very Real for Keanu because his friend River Phoenix Died while this movie was filming about 6 months before this movie was released Keanu has said that reaction was very cathartic as he was grieving the lost of one of his best friends in real life
This is the movie that really launched Sandra Bullock's career. She did have a major role in DEMOLITION MAN but SPEED really put her in the spotlight bound for cinematic greatness. If you love her here watch MISS CONGENIALITY.❤
Fun fact... the chemistry between keanu and sandra in this movie was real but neither of them admitted how they really felt at the time now much later on the both individually confessed in interviews they had a huge crush on one another... who knows what could have been if they both had opened up about how they really felt at the time of filming speed.
Keanu did not try to make more of it coz it was work. And he has priciples. One true gentleman who does not just think with his dick. One more reason just to love this outstanding human being.
Man, you guys are hitting so many of the touchstones of my childhood lately. Sometime you should get around to Last Boy Scout or The Long Kiss Goodnight. Lots of fun stuff in those.
I saw this movie 3x at the theater when it was released, and not because it it had an amazing story, or great acting, but because it was an amazing thrill ride. Just like riding your favorite roller coaster, you might know where all the twist and turns are, but that doesn't make it any less thrilling with each new ride. Sandra Bullock was for sure the stand out star for me here, as I've been a fan of hers ever since. As for Keanu, well, he was Keanu, if your not a fan going in to this movie, absolutely nothing will change your mind here, but him and Sandra were a great pairing nonetheless(great chemistry).
12:06 Tristan: "Well the guy pulled over for a coffee. I don't think a bus driver would do that with people on board." Tristan obviously didn't grow up in Toronto. 😄 (Speaking of growing up in Toronto, anyone over a certain age who grew up in Toronto, who has a love for film, probably has Elwy Yost to thank for it. The screenwriter for this movie, Graham Yost, is his son. Elwy Yost had a weekly "Saturday Night at the Movies", which was like TCM, decades before there was a TCM. ❤)
I came because Tristian is my favorite name. From the movie the Legends of the Fall. Brad Pitt, oh my GAWWWWWWDDDDDD, And also, this Tristian is funny 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Happy New Year you two 😂❤
Fantastic reaction guys! Marc Mancina had me rushing to HMV soundtracks area for both this and Bad Boys, his dramatic music is SO good and really stood out back then and broke through a new action theme style (when it seemed 2-3 of the trusted Hollywood soundtrack score composers had it nailed down tight). Love this movie (over the years got the LD, DVD, BR) a 90s classic! Thank you so much guys, and a Happy New Year to you!
Mark Mancina was, at the time, a student to Hans Zimmer at Remote Control Productions and he helped in scores like Days of Thunder, True Romance and The Lion King
In an interview with the screen writer, he said that in one very early version of the script that it was actually Harry (Jeff Daniels') character who put the bomb on the bus. I believe that he said that the character was supposed to be forced to retire after being shot by Jack, and that his life fell apart after that, and putting the bomb on the bus was to get his revenge on Jack and to get the money. I think there are elements of that version of the script that made it into the final draft. Like using the cheap gold retirement gift watch as a timer on the bomb, saying to Jack that he was smarter than him, saying "I got a medal too Jack. I got a medal and then a pink slip and sorry about your hand" (probably leg in the original draft) and things like that.
Keanu and Sandra have such good chemistry in this film. Keanu is especially at his most charistmatic and very good in this action role. I've also seen it described as three movies in a trenchcoat because it's three intense action stories linked together.
I saw this movie about a bus that had to SPEED around a city, keeping its SPEED over fifty, and if its SPEED dropped, it would explode! I think it was called ''The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down' - Homer J Simpson at his best.
Also would like to suggest SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT 1 AND 2. Great fun and humor great stunt driving all done for real as before cgi. Part 2 even has the most cars crashed in one scene until Blues Brothers
I just watched this movie for the first time like a week ago. It’s sooo good. I’ve always been a hige fan of Sandra bullock. Another great reaction!! I love it!
Great pick, one of my favorite action movies, it’s a very stressful movie because of the terrorist / bomb situations. 🚎💥 The elevator scene reminded me of the elevator scene in the first Resident Evil movie, but a horror version. 😆
They're not supposed to.😅Anyway, I think the film was trying to establish (and it did successfully) that this is the beginning of the driver's shift and hadn't picked up any passengers yet.
Poles on buses and trains are placed by jacking up the roof, then sinking metal roof cups down onto the poles. Metal cups in the floor aswell. There's no way to move the poles by hand. So that was accurate.
Neat fact 30 years later both Keanu and Sandra had a crush in each other nut didn't know it and both not being really famous yet didn't mention it to each other found out separately on talk shows
The bus stunt...Well,the bus didn't launch as far as the film says(50 feet). It was death proofed, which is a stunman term and modified for the stunt driver to not die,but it was really modified for the stunt driver to not break his back when the bus landed.
You guys were right, the movie keeps you on the edge of your seat. The only other movie I've seen that does this as well was Executive Decision with Kurt Russel. Really well done 90s action thriller. It's worth a watch.
Initially John McThiernan was going to direct the movie but after realizing that it was another Die Hard clone, he decided and recommended De Bont instead
You guys are great reacting as a couple. Would tp see you react to my favorite movie ever classic love story all story no special effects needed. THE QUIET MAN with John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara. Love humor and nice bit of action. Great. Over 20 years older then me but habeen my favorite since 14yp. See it 2 or 3 times a year with the wife and ir was filmed On location in Ireland
And just think,Johnny Depp was offered this film and he turned it down. Now,the backstory, was that the studio wanted younger male actors for action films and the studio had a list, which was Keanu Reeves,Johnny Depp,Christian Slater,Charlie Sheen and some others.
Love this movie. This les direct to the movie Twister for Jan DeBont the director and it's definitely a nonstop thrill ride. And YES they actually jumped a bus for real. For another lesser known but great movie thrill ride with an all star cast check out SWORDFISH. Has John Travolta Halle Barry and Hugh Jackman before well known for Wolverine
Yep,and the bus was death proofed, which is a stunt term, meaning it was modified for the stunt guy to not die,but the stunt driver wasn't in danger of dieing,he was in danger of breaking his back from when the bus would land.
Fun movie with the exception of the stupid and ridiculous jump. But seriously don’t. Date your time with the sequel , Keanu isn’t in it because he obviously knew it was a bad premise and script. Really bad. If you guys haven’t seen Point Break with Keanu, definitely watch it. Lots of action, but don’t bother with the remake.
33:35 my God you're a genius none of us would have figured out they're going to run out of gas after he punctured the gas tank God for all the solar cover is stupid thanks to you we now know that
7:38 Sam yanking both her legs up as close to her as possible was absolutely me in the theatre. My feet came off the ground SO quickly! 😂
The Scene where Keanu Reacts to Harry's death was very Real for Keanu because his friend River Phoenix Died while this movie was filming about 6 months before this movie was released Keanu has said that reaction was very cathartic as he was grieving the lost of one of his best friends in real life
“Who carries that many cans in a stroller? What a sicko” wins reaction quote of the day
Come to New York.
Me as a kid: That's weird.
me now: Oh...

Agreed!
But do not watch Speed 2.
@@DocMicrowaveAgreed
@@DocMicrowave There is no Speed 2.
@@Justin.Franks lol, no argument from me. Full agree.

Despite that they are still good friends to this day
You know they are close and good friends so it's still a win
And I think they sort of prefer this
Keanu did not try to make more of it coz it was work. And he has priciples. One true gentleman who does not just think with his dick. One more reason just to love this outstanding human being.
@@coax47 Then Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) came along.

Yes, second for "The Long Kiss Goodnight" such a banger of a movie! One not many react to, unfortunately!
Third for The Long Kiss Goodnight
Definitely The Long Kiss Goodnight.
you guys are great, my new favorite channel! happy new year and looking forward to more awesome reactions from you guys.
Jan de Bont, the director of this movie was the cinematographer on Die Hard. And this movie’s original pitch was, “Die Hard on a Bus”
Another great Keanu Reeves movie that often gets overlooked is “Devils Advocate”. Good stuff.
Love Joe Morton and his extra intensity as captain. “Confirm building evac…MOVE!!” “Come on, tape it!” “Run it!!”

Thanks to Sam and Tristan! 🚌 That's another one I saw on the big screen.
Sandra's friend on the bus was also the teacher in Chucky 2
2:25/This actor was in the movie 🎥 Terminator 2.

I highly recommend watching "Point Break" from 1991, for the movie that started Keanu Reeves as an Action Star.
Another Keano Reeves film you might like...
💥...Sweet November...Keano Reeves..Charlize Theron...2001...
Now you have to watch "Twister" -- same director and quite a few of the same actors show up there too.
Great chemistry Bullock n Reeves. Over the top but action packed start to finish. Hard to believe it's 30 years old.
1996 thriller movie suggestion - "Executive Decision" starring Kurt Russell, Steven Seagal, John Leguizamo, Oliver Platt, JT Walsh, Halle Berry.
44:29 No one notices that's Eddie (Richard Schiff) (who got ripped apart by two Rexes) from The Lost World: Jurassic Park ;-) ?
He was also in Man of Steel as Dr. Emil Hamilton
Reminding of Indiana Jones and the last crusade reaction 😂😂😂

Yes, bus drivers will pull over to get coffee and snacks with people on board. Years ago, I was late to a job because one did just that.

HAHAHAHA what a reaction!! HAHAHA the elevator part HAHAHAHA
1997 thriller movie suggestion - "Breakdown" starring Kurt Russell, JT Walsh.
It SHOULD remind you of Die Hard as the director was a producer and camera for stunts in the elevator scenes

Did you read the ad at the back of their bus? :)
Also, hoping to someday see your reaction to The Fugutive (1993).
Great reaction ❤️
It's really a great movie
Speed 2 is eminently missable. However Speed 3, an episode the the fabulously absurd sitcom Father Ted, is a superb must-watch spoof.
The bus stunt...Well,the bus didn't launch as far as the film says(50 feet). It was death proofed, which is a stunman term and modified for the stunt driver to not die,but it was really modified for the stunt driver to not break his back when the bus landed.
In the original script - Harry was supposed to be in on it with Mr. Payne. But the test audiences didn't like it - so they changed it.
22,28,I agree completely..No one in the World, have a stroller, full of cans..what did Jan de Bont get that idea from ???
