I finally got my own pair of Veja Esplars, and I love them! I got a pair in the "chrome-free" leather, which I HIGHLY recommend. It's so much softer than the regular Veja leather. The tongue was soft right out of the box. The shoes still required a bit of breaking in, but no blisters or pain at least on my feet. And I had no discomfort from the tongue wearing low cut socks. I read an interview with one of the Veja founders and they said they've realized that customers don't necessarily want sneakers that require beaking in like men's dress shoes. So just speculating that this might be why they are starting to use some softer types of leather.
Although... all Lacoste sneakers that I have tried are not as comfortable though due to the shape of my feet perhaps. I would rather stick to Adidas or Nike as they provide wide selections.
My favorite jeans right now are Citizens of Humanity Olivia. They are a slim-straight. A baby step toward straights but still skinny-ish. Button-fly. High waist. LOVE!
I really appreciate all the links and the overall way you structure your videos and description box. I’m sure it is a lot of work for you but it makes your videos all the more enjoyable and adds far more value for your viewers than content that other fashion bloggers are putting out. Thank you I am a big fan. After binge watching all your videos with the Phillip Lim shorts I finally placed an order with Farfetch. I’m hoping they look as good on me as they do on you :)
Thank you so much, what an incredible compliment (and if you ever have any feedback/changes you think I should make, please do share! Always up for improvements :D ). Those shorts are brilliant - I'm personally hanging out for warmer weather so I can start wearing them again. What colour did you end up going for? x
Hello, I don't usually comment on any YT video, but being very picky when it comes to sneakers, I think that i should let you knowthat sezane's jack sneakers are the best ones... I also have the Simon's for colder weather. Amazing. No blisters... and the interior of the shoes is all leather, there is no tissue whatsoever and that makes it so confortable and less smelly. Love from Bordeaux, France. P.S. I also have the grey Chuck... so soft. Sweater buddies. Youpi !
Another commenter mentioned the same thing - thank you for sharing! I have a pair of their shoes but haven’t had a chance to wear them properly, however I’ve only ever heard good things about the quality of their leather goods. And yes, the chuck is so cosy 💕 great minds think alike ☺️
@@mademoisellejaime I have 5 pairs of Sezane leather shoes (including boots, pumps and sandals) no disappointment. For a cosy but breezy sweater you should check out Theodore... Great for lounging or even on top of a dress in order to have a bohemian edgy look. Newly subscribed... Found you thanks to Audrey Coyne and Justine Leconte... Sending french love on your way.
I usually watch the Testing Basics series from Lizzie, from Shot from the Street, and it's really nice to see another person doing a similar kind of review, more opinions from different people helps us choose better! The guy you mentioned is Rose Anvil. I love his videos, his reviews are really honest and he knows his stuff. Plus, it's too fun watching him cut shoes in half, although when he cut a pair of RMs in half, I slightly panicked a little. Speaking of, have you ever worn RM boots? I bought the Adelaide model, and while I love the look of them, they're still not broken in, after wearing them several times, for several hours at a time AND getting them stretched out by a cobbler. It's crazy. I don't even have particularly wide feet and I got measured at the store too. I'm crying a bit inside at the potential mistake I made when purchasing them.
Lizzy's videos are great :) Glad to be able to add to the conversation and hopefully help you make the right choice for you. I've only watched a couple of his videos but agree, his knowledge is incredible and I love the way he breaks it down. What was the result with the RM boots? I actually have had a pair on my Wishlist for years but when I went to try them on in-store, they didn't have that particular style available. My sister has a pair and she loves them, but I'm not 100% sure which style she got. I imagine you would probably be able to sell them and recoup some of the money you spent on them if they aren't right, otherwise might I suggest taking them to a cobbler to stretch them out professionally? May help! x
I love my Stan Smith Adidas. I tend to tuck the laces into my shoe. I also have wide feet and find these so comfortable. My Vejas have still not become comfortable and I’ve worn them about 15 times. I did have a total foot reconstruction in November last year, so that plays a part in my discomfort as I also find the leather unyielding. I have a pair of Converse Breakpoint sneakers in the Natural suede which are amazingly comfortable. I also adore my Supergas. I’ve found them great for my wide feet. They’re a canvas pair. Of course, my Vans classic in the black, are super comfy too 👌🏻😊 (Belinda)
Ahh that would probably help - I suppose could also just replace them with shorter ones if I had the inclination. I can see that happening with the Veja's, especially if you're trying to wear them post your foot surgery. The soles aren't as bouncy as some of the other options out there (and they don't run quite as wide as say, the Adidas). That's great to know re: the Converse Breakpoints and also Supergas too :) Hope you're having a great week Belinda xx
I would add the Superga Classic in white to this list. Love those, super easy to style and always creates this relaxed sort of italian vibe. Also, the GGDBs look so very flattering b/c they have a hidden heel buit into the insole.
I completely forgot to mention superga! That was another brand that was requested. I’ve actually owned them before and I found I’m in between sizes - and as they don’t do half sizes it’s a brand I personally don’t find comfortable. I know from friends who have them if you get them and they’re a perfect fit they are SUPER comfortable. Plus love how many fun colours they come in! 🙌🏻
Ooh that’s interesting - yes could be a style or just down to retailer. I’d bought mine from a local store here in Sydney, and they only had whole sizes. Probably didn’t help that they were satin - fabric has zero give!!
White sneakers are such a staple so it's great to see your thoughts on which are best! I usually wear Adidas but I'd be interested in trying the Reebok ones.
I just purchased Superga white leather sneakers size 37. They are great for narrow feet (I’ve had both bunions done). Have had them for a couple days now, comfortable to wear walking dog, but I am going to try having them on all day. There isn’t much softness in the sole which is typical with lots of sneakers. My last white pair were Sol Sana (over $200). They have lasted several years, have scuffed toes and the heals are worn out. Loved your reviews Jaime. Thanks
I hadn't thought to give that a go. I find the way they're currently laced is the most convenient for getting them on/off so am a little hesitant to do so (if you know what I mean!). I have considered looking online to try and find some slightly longer laces as I really just want 5 extra cms! x
I think I have wide feet and yours don`t even look wide at all. This video encouraged me to try the golden goose sneakers. I would love to hear your recommendation for THE perfect white T shirt: cotton, cap sleeves or short sleeves, high o neck, straight shape not too loose and not too long and not too figure shaped. And super high quality.
When I was younger, a girlfriend of mine used to make me slip on her shoes when I'd visit to stretch them out for her LOL - it wasn't until I was older I realised I had wide feet! Golden Goose are great, and while I still think that they're horrendously expensive, I'd not hesitate to buy another pair if I was in the market for more sneakers. And yes, I think I'll probably do t-shirts next :D
Thanks for such detailed reviews! I’m so excited for the continuation of this series. I was tempted by Golden Goose in the past, but now that you’ve shared the fit, I don’t think it’s worth it As I’ve got narrow feet. They look so great with the maxi dress you paired them with! I’m going to stick to my beloved Lacoste Straightset. Strangely I realised my two pairs are VERY different in comfort and construction. The newer pair I paid full price for has a harder insole, and somehow marks more. Very odd even though they’re the same shoe as my original pair. Have you ever noticed that, or you don’t have double pairs of shoes?
Thanks Jess! Looking forward to filming the next one (though it'll probably be a few months away). I definitely think the GGs are more suited to wide feet, but may be worth trying on to see just in case (or not - you'll be saving yourself a LOT of money LOL, they are one pricey sneaker). That's so interesting regarding the shoes. Maybe that the manufacturing elements have changed in the years since you bought them? I think I've had this happen once with a pair of shoes, but the follow up pair were better quality xx
Oh jeepers! I took mine off before they got that bad and then had to wait a week before wearing them again. Thankfully they don't cut me like that anymore, but they're definitely not the most comfortable pair I have. I have heard that other styles within their range are really comfortable though, so it may just be the esplar style?
Such a great start to the series! My go-to sneakers are always Common Projects - I didn’t even realise my feet were narrow 😂 Spring Court are also lovely, but may run narrow, given my love of the above, and dislike of GG for being too wide...
My fave white sneakers are ECCO. Most comfortable sneakers ever. Also, mine get worn weekly and are four years old and still look basically new. Waterproof and good looking, definitely my best pick!
Ooh thanks for sharing! They have a lot of support in them don’t they? Good to know that they’ve held up well. Four years is a good inning that’s for sure 👌🏻
Thanks for doing all the homework for us! I also feel like I have wide toes, although at my recent measuring at Nordstrom showed that my feet are only a US “C” width, or medium, and this review is very helpful. I have a lot of trouble finding comfortable sneakers; most manufacturers make a very tight toebox to make the shoe more slender-looking. If you someday update your sneaker review, I would love it if you would also add breathability to your criteria.
So glad you found this helpful, and also I appreciate the request for "breathability" too. I was thinking it might be useful to revisit these shoes in a video down the track so maybe that's something I can talk about then :)
I have narrow feet. The veja and Stan smiths looked ridiculous on me. I purchased the Sezane jack sneakers and they are amazing. Absolutely no break in time, well made and stunning.
Oh that's so interesting - did you try the esplar style from Veja? I would have assumed because they have a slimmer profile across the foot (like the Common Projects) they would be flattering for those with narrow feet too! Hard to judge though of course as I have wide feet myself :) Great feedback about the Sezane sneakers. I've looked at them previously and they're really cute
@@mademoisellejaime I tried the esplar and the v10 and both were like boats on me. I do have REALLY narrow feet, Everlane shoes fit me amazing and I have several pair of their shoes (4). I have their trainers and love them but wanted something lower profile and the court shoes weren't my cup of tea.
Hey girl, would you recommend sizing up on the Reebok club c sneakers or do you think there true to size? I’m planning on getting some but all theses reviews are confusing me I’m a size us8 I usually always get size 8. I hope you see this soon. Thank you for this video 💓
I have a lot of white sneakers including golden goose, Gucci... but the common projects pair is my favorite! I find them to be very comfortable out of box which doesn’t happen often... they don’t hurt whatsoever even if I walk in them all day! I don’t have narrow feet either. I think you might have gotten a size too small actually
Maybe it's the shape of my foot - but they just didn't work for me (my toes aren't even close to touching the end so I'm sure I have the right size but I could be wrong here). Once I'm travelling back into the city again post-COVID, I'll try on the next size up just to be sure but I found my main issue was across the foot. I also have a bunion there so it's a bit of a pain point for me which may also have something to do with how they feel on x
mademoiselle yeah I think it’s worth giving it another chance. When I first got mine I thought they were too big, it felt loose especially at front and back, I could even squeeze a finger inside when barefoot. But when I wear a pair of not so thin socks and tighten up the shoe lace, it’s perfection! I just walked around shopping all day in them again!
I love trainers but since I have bunions it is a real struggle to find stylish ones that don't hurt my feet - i have similar issues to you with wide feet too so good to know about the Common Projects ones as i have been lusting after them for awhile. Now a days when I shop for trainers I look for shoes with stiffer soles with a wedge shape as my foot doctor recommended those shapes would better support my feet. My favourites are the Converse Run Star Hike!
I feel lucky my bunion doesn’t give me too much grief (despite the fact it protrudes out quite prominently). Have you tried any of the orthotic brands? There’s quite a few out there and I feel like these days you can usually find something pretty cute. It’s good that you have a brand and style that work for you too 😊
@@mademoisellejaime I have brands like Bared (a brand created by orthopedics) which have a more supportive insole but not great for wide feet. For daily wear I like Habbot shoes (their Hunter shoes are my favourite - can walk to work with them ~7km without any pain) but haven't tried their trainers!
Loving these detailed reviews... thank you!!! Currently trying to weigh up between buying the Vejas now & waiting for the Everlane ones to come back into stock, as I love the ethical aspect, but comfort is super important to me... which do you think are the most comfortable between these two? Also just interested in Everlane returns/exchanges regarding ease & cost, as I have been too nervous to order anything from Everlane yet as I’m picky with fit & sizing & hate when it’s a hassle to return or exchange... I feel like you may have already mentioned this in a previous video but cannot remember which one?!
So glad that you found this helpful! I think of the two, the Everlane ones are much more comfortable. I've not had any issues with these hurting at all and if you're planning on wearing thick socks or have wide feet, then they will probably be best. That said, I know that other Veja styles are comfortable and won't give you blisters at all (one of my girlfriends has a different style and said they are fab - comfortable straight away).
I also watched the video of the Common Projects being cut in half. Did you see he also cut a pair of Koio sneakers in half which look almost identical to the Common Projects but are about half the price. Definitely seems like a good alternative! I also have the Everlane sneakers and agree about the hollow feeling! They also look a bit frumpy to me if I'm not careful about how I style them. I do wear them though because they are very comfortable.
No I haven't but I will have to go and watch it. I've seen Koio sneakers before and they look like a good basic style. I agree re: the Everlane sneakers; they're probably the ones I've found hardest to style, but I've found them great for when I'm going on walks as like you say, they're comfortable :)
Like this series! It’s the first time I watched your UA-cam channel and your opinion is so practical! I have same problem with Veja and common projects! Probably going for golden goose and Reebok! Thanks for the honesty! I have wide feet too!
Thank you so much - so glad that you found this helpful. If it helps, I've found the pair I've worn the most outside of the GGDB sneakers are the Everlane ones and they've held up really well. After that would be the Reeboks. Can't go wrong with either three of them :D
Great start to this series! I have narrow feet, so I do have some trouble with certain trainers being too wide as opposed to too snug - e.g. I can't wear brands like Superga and the chunky trainer trend as a whole does not really work for me. I would recommend Ecco shoes as they have some lovely, very feminine trainers that look dressier and are quite plimsoll-like but made with leather (and so comfortable). I'm also really partial to my Adidas Superstars - I'm on my third pair (though I would say that the quality isn't as good as in the 2000s). Favourite skinny jeans: Levi's 710/Innovation Super Skinny/721 High Rise and AG legging ankle and AG Farrah. I've been meaning to try the Mother Looker jeans but haven't found the right colour/wash yet. Good American is also on my list, as is Hudson and Madewell. White t-shirts: second @Grace Walters' request to see a fitted white t-shirt or two - boxy, stiffer ones just don't suit me. Looking forward to more!
Thank you so much for sharing your recommendations - hopefully will be helpful for those who have narrow feet like you :) And also appreciate the requests for my next two videos. I'm planning on doing t-shirts first, and will have one fitted tee plus a couple of alternatives to mention based on the brands I'm featuring so hopefully should give a bit of balance xx
They’re great aren’t they? The only thing I don’t love about them is the price. Never thought I’d be so into a sneaker that looks worn in from the get go haha! 🙈
This was great! Narrow feet here and narrow heels-ugh. Size 39. They are like long boats. My thoughts for what it’s worth 🤷♀️: Veja-have same pair and love them. My feet just kinda squish around in them but they r great! Sounds so silly to have to break them in but so true. Quite painful but worth it! I’ve read that a lot of people cut that tongue short but I held out💪. CP- bleh. I think the problem is the back of the heel is really low. I tried them on and thought they were uncomfortable and the heel thing was weird. GG-yes, darn it. They are great. The built in heel support on the superstar is great. I wore a brand new pair on vacation and didn’t even get a hot spot. They are def loose but u just learn how to tie them for ur feet. I have a hi top pair that are super comfortable. Stan Smiths-I love them. They are clunky but just iconic. Not flattering at all😂 but so comfy. I don’t get the converse thing. The hi tops made my legs look like tree trunks and the flat pairs are scratchy inside. I think they’re great for wide feet maybe. I got a foot microdermabrasion session. Great video!
Oh my gosh people cut the tongue on the Vejas? I would never!! Sounds like we have had very similar experiences and also same thoughts on many of these shoes (despite the differences in our feet!). I am still shook over how comfortable the GGs are; glad for that as being the most expensive, I was hoping they would work out - they're perfect for going on walks with our son. Look great no matter what I have on! Hope you have a great start to your week xx
I really enjoyed this review and it honestly worked out perfectly because I am a 40 as well and also have a difficult time finding shoes because I have really wide feet! It was helpful having your perspective when it came to fit and interesting to see them reviewed alongside each other! I glad to know that about the common projects shoes, I’ve only heard rave reviews. Very interesting
So glad that you found this useful Kristina! I really wanted to get wear out of the sneakers to give accurate feedback as it's usually by about 10 wears that they really settle in :) I think the CPs must just be good for those with narrow feet, but it's also disappointing that they're much more precious than I'd anticipated. Will still wear them but glad that only one of us had to splurge to find that out haha XD
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I’ve only heard good things too. Perhaps when I finally manage to tear through one of these pairs I’ll give them a go next 😊
I lovee my classic reebok as well. They are very comfy and looks great with legging and skinny jeans. Aside frm my fave reebok, i love my new balance sneakers too.
Thanks for this video . I was thinking between golden goose and CP sneakers. Having wider feet I struggle with finding comfy shoes . I agree with you on adidas sneakers, not my favourite either . I might invest in GG 🙈 Lacoste has really comfy sneakers. I am looking forward to the best of videos series ❤️
You’re welcome! Yeah I would say if you want to go higher end, then GG is the better option as they are so much more suited for wide feet. The only thing I wish is that they came with longer laces but you can always switch those if you wanted!
I went with Vans comfy cush truewhite/true white and a pair of Vans Old Skool pro in black/white. Super happy with how both looked fantastic, and are super comfortable out there box! Otherwise the Golden Goose peaked my interest. I lost interest in the Stan Smith after seeing the long tongue design.
I loved this video, thank you so much for making it as I would never have been able to afford to try all the shoes for myself. I have been contemplating between CP and GG and was leaning towards CP before this video and now GG after watching this.
I have puma classic baskets in white they are about £65 and are really flattering on my feel and really comfortable but i have narrow feet. For plain basic white tee Asos design is my go to
It would be great if you coukd compare t shirts from ethical brands. There are a ton of fast fashion ones out there. Some that come into mind are Organic Basics, Kotn, Reformation and Sezane.
Do you think you might give the leather converse low-tops a try, for the sake of "muchness" and helping those of us who find converse a little more available?
Another commenter shared feedback on these and has said even after a couple years of wear on the Converse low tops in leather, they're still not broken in. I had an inkling that would be the case when trying the high tops so wasn't at all tempted (and honestly, I think I'd prefer to do my feet a favour and give them a miss!). If I was set on that style I'd get the canvas ones - those I know from experience are so comfortable! x
Great video! I definitely agree with you on the Common Projects, I love the look but they fit so narrowly! And by the way, the video you referenced about the guy cutting them in half is somewhat questionable. Most of the points he brings up is debatable. The type of leather used is not inherently less quality.
Great sneaker review. Was thinking of the Reebok’s as my next purchase. I have the Tommy Hilfiger sneaker and love them . Like you, I have wide feet with a bunion and the TH sneakers are a soft leather and have been a pleasure to wear.
Please for the skinny jeans try the 722 from Levi's and the cheeky jeans from everlane and the zara's premium Also, very helpful I am looking for a high quality leather everyday shoes and this came right on time ❤❤❤
So informative! Thank you! I've been loving wearing white sneakers with dresses/skirts! I have white leather converse, lowtops, in the 'dainty' style which they make for people who want less 'bulk' on their feet. I think they look good, but I have wide feet and have not found them to be super comfy (and I've been 'breaking them in for a few years!). Will definitely be taking your suggestions into consideration!
I love that lower Converse style (I used to have the canvas ones though they got destroyed during our house Reno's) - it's really flattering! That's so frustrating that they are still not comfortable - I had an inkling based on my first impressions on the high tops but usually you find most leather shoes tend to soften. Thank you so much for sharing your experience - really helpful in case anyone else was looking at buying a pair x
@@mademoisellejaime The leather did soften - the issue I had was more so with the rubber toe cap/edges. I've had canvas converse before (perhaps 10 years ago) and with time, the rubber would give a little and be comfortable. But these leather ones have not. Perhaps they don't make converse the way they used to, or perhaps leather converse need thicker/different rubber... But yeah, I think people with narrow feet would be fine though!
Hi Jamie. What a fantastic idea for a series. I love my white leather Keds. Absolutely minimalist design and low cut. So comfy. Thank you, and already looking forward to your next video. Hope you continue to keep well and safe. 💖💖💖🌺 n
Thanks for sharing your experience with Keds! Hopefully will be helpful for anyone looking at buying a pair. I haven't owned Keds in YEARS - I remember having a canvas pair when I was 14 :)
which ones can you wear for hours without getting sore feet, back pain, or leg aches?? do any of them have proper support? i have converse and adidas and i cant wear them for more than like 2-3 hours because my feet start to hurt with both (the sole of my adidas is so lumpy!!) and the converse my back and legs starts aching
The FRANKiE4 ones would be the best for this I would say. They provide orthotic support, and have a nice squishy interior. Best after that would be the Reebok ones x
Hi @mademoiselle! I'm loving your videos. I had a question for you (it doesn't pertain to this video). I've got a really lovely light gray mockneck sweater and light gray chinos. Do you think i'd be committing a fashion faux pas wearing them together? I was thinking it might look really clean with some black loafers added. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much! And definitely not!! I LOVE monochromatic outfits - I think it looks really chic. My only tip is to ensure they both have the same undertone (warm or cool) xx
@@mademoisellejaime Amazing! They both have a cool undertone. Thank you so much for your advice! I'm originally from California, and I actually spend half my time in Melbourne. I wear the same size as you. Do you ever have trouble finding your size in Aus, or is that just just me? I feel like I can never find 6 or 8.
You're welcome! I do find for some Aussie brands, that the smaller sizes sell out pretty quickly. Bec and Bridge and Faithfull are two which come to mind. Particularly boutiques as well, they seem to only get 1 or 2 items in each size so you have to be quick. If I really have my eye on something, I'll usually do a search online and can generally track down my size though xx
Thanks for the recs! I think I'm going to do t-shirts next and then skinny jeans after. I've changed size recently as I had a baby - sorta in between a 25 and 26 right now though previously was always a 25 xx
Hi Jamie nice shoes like the golden goose those are gorgeous with the dress you wearing. Great sneaker collection amazing shoes for summer. Have a great day love. XO❤😊
I agree common projects are overpriced. I’d sell them if I were you.I didn’t know they were so popular when I bought them with a discount. Still they are my favorites by far because they fit my feet, I don’t like too soft insoles, and I can literally wear them with everything in my wardrobe. Suits, dresses, jeans, jumpsuits in all possible styles. I am EU 41, chucky shoes are not for me. I am wearing them to bits, after 3 years they are scratched, but still good for wearing, just not to the office. So I found a second pair in orange and the shop promised me their cobbler can resole it too.
You know, I haven't even touched them since filming this video. I've gone on to wear the Golden Goose, FRANKiE4s, Adidas and Reeboks (the Everlane and Veja's I know are comfortable too) but I've been hesitant to wear the CPs just because all I can remember are the blisters and when I go for my walks I do around 10K steps at once and walk quite briskly. I'm so glad to hear that they work for you though - that's fantastic. But yes, maybe I should cut my losses and sell them on eBay... xx
Hi! The style runs a full size large, so yes go down one size from your usual. It should also mention this in the sizing on most websites when shopping for them too xx
Do you wear socks with your sneakers? Or do you wear them barefoot? I noticed you mentioned with some of the sneakers you had problems with getting blisters and having the leather cut into the skin of your feet.
Out of these, I've had the same Rebook ones for almost two years now and I only had to break them in a little before they got comfy. However, since wearing them non-stop, now I find myself having to replace them because they are too walked in and give me blisters if I wear them for more than half an hour at a time :/
I got on the Stan Smith bandwagon a few years back and regretted it. The leather on them is too bright and waxy looking, and they made my size 40 feet look chunky. I made the mistake of taking them on an overseas trip before breaking them in and they tore my feet up so badly the first time wearing them that they spend the rest of the week in my suitcase!
YES! That describes the leather well. I had actually mentioned a line about how they're a shiny matte finish but it made no sense so I cut it out when editing. I personally don't love the way they look compared to the others (from a aesthetic viewpoint, they're my least favourite) which I think comes down to the boxy shape and rounded toe. That said, they're a cult classic fave among many - I suppose a lot of it comes down to your personal style, right? And omg that's awful! I didn't have to break mine in at all so I got lucky from that perspective. The worst when you buy a shoe for travel and it doesn't end up fulfilling its purpose x
@@mademoisellejaime To be fair, I think the pair I bought were a half size too small (but the size up felt too large), so I can't completely blame the shoes, but it was an important lesson in what happens when you fall for a trend! I lusted after the CP Achilles for so long, too, but after watching some UA-cam reviews and remembering my experience with the Stan Smiths, my desire for white sneakers has finally waned. Still, I enjoyed watching your thorough review and look forward to future installments in this series :) Personally, I would love to see a video on breton striped tops.
I was so hesitant to buy a pair at first but now glad I did. I can totally get the obsession - id love to look at getting one of the glitter pairs eventually 🙊
I don't but I have owned a pair previously and I didn't find them comfortable. It sounds like from the comments, that it's all about finding the right pair as the size offering varies between styles. The ones I had were satin too, so no give at all! x
@@mademoisellejaime youbare right with regards to comfort, I own 1 pair and I find them very uncomfortable hence I wanted to know your experience with them. Love your content, all the way from South Africa 😂😊
I've been wanting to try Bared - almost bought a pair of their sandals when I was pregnant. Will definitely keep them in mind next time I'm buying shoes :D
Ahhh bugger! I hate when hyped up shoes end up being a disappointment. Would love to know a bit more about your experience with Koio if you don't mind sharing? xx
@mademoiselle sure, koio was my first dive into "highend" leather shoes so I was expecting some break ins like a regular shoe from the store. When I first tried them on I was like "holy crap these feel like wooden blocks tightly wrapped around my feet." And since I have wider feet my toes were getting crushed together. So after that I went with cheaper alternatives that have a wider toe box like new republic and I can walk comfortably-ish in those.
I’ve been getting requests for a long time now to share reviews on basic items (something I started doing more specifically with the “my wardrobe” series last year). This is essentially an extension of that, talking through the wear and tear of core wardrobe staples over an extended period of time 😊 there’s tonnes of videos like this on YT, but that’s a big compliment that you would compare it to Lizzy; she’s so stylish!
I have a feeling it may depend on the style - as I've got friends who have bought different types of Veja's and absolutely love them (and say they don't get blisters!). If I were to purchase a pair from the brand again I would definitely try a different style, that's for sure
I hate veja shoes! All of them are impressively uncomfortable, give you blisters and plus I got a knee problem from using this expensive trash brand! Stay away everyone.
Really looking forward to this series.
Yay! It’s going to be a while between videos unless I’ve got a few things on the go, but I hope it’s going to be a useful reference/review guide 😊
Lacoste makes very nice sneakers, they are less “chunky” and more feminine looking.!
Ooh thanks for the recommendation 😊😊
Agreed, their Straightset white sneakers are the only ones I wear without feeling like I’ve got clown sized feet
Although... all Lacoste sneakers that I have tried are not as comfortable though due to the shape of my feet perhaps. I would rather stick to Adidas or Nike as they provide wide selections.
@@bondafisya4645 Yeah my Lacoste white sneakers looked great but really werent great for my wide feet. Squished my toes together and caused blisters
Thank you for this suggestion. I just cannot get on the chunky shoe trend
I can’t wait for the rest of this series!!! I would love to see a few fitted white T-shirt’s featured. I am struggling to find a nice one!
Yay so glad you enjoyed this Grace! And good feedback - will keep in might to try and include at least one x
My favorite jeans right now are Citizens of Humanity Olivia. They are a slim-straight. A baby step toward straights but still skinny-ish. Button-fly. High waist. LOVE!
Ooh I actually have a pair of those! The denim is just 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
I really appreciate all the links and the overall way you structure your videos and description box.
What colour did you end up going for? x
Jamie, a great series! It would be great to hear about Frame, Mother, Everlane, Levi, and others.
Thanks Barb and also for the brand requests for denim :D
I love Sezane's Jack sneakers! So stylish, with the gold eyelets and so so comfortable with the little cushion tab at the ankle. Beautiful quality.
A few others have also echoed this - wish I had tried them too now! Will have to keep that in mind if I'm ever on the hunt for new sneakers xx
mademoiselle oh yes, I agree! If they fit you they are ridiculously comfortable.
I got black Supergas in a half size from Amazon last year, so maybe they only do half sizes for some colors or not all retailers offer them?🤔
Ooh that’s interesting - yes could be a style or just down to retailer. I’d bought mine from a local store here in Sydney, and they only had whole sizes. Probably didn’t help that they were satin - fabric has zero give!!
mademoiselle in one of Valeria Lipovetski‘s videos she recommends the Joe Fresh Canvas Sneakers. Maybe those could be an alternative for you?
I just got the Reeboks. Good to hear you liked them so much
They're fantastic! So comfy for walking. My husband loves them too - owns them in three different colours :D
@@mademoisellejaime i wanna get new ones now, they are so comfy but made mine too dirty
Hi, Jamie! I enjoy quirky shoes, so I bought the Adidas in baby blue croc-embossed leather. You're right, they're really good when you have wide feet.
Ooh those sound fabulous! Yes that was my impression of them; they're so wide across the foot :)
White sneakers are such a staple so it's great to see your thoughts on which are best! I usually wear Adidas but I'd be interested in trying the Reebok ones.
Thanks Camillia, hope you enjoyed this one :D
I just purchased Superga white leather sneakers size 37. They are great for narrow feet (I’ve had both bunions done). Have had them for a couple days now, comfortable to wear walking dog, but I am going to try having them on all day. There isn’t much softness in the sole which is typical with lots of sneakers. My last white pair were Sol Sana (over $200). They have lasted several years, have scuffed toes and the heals are worn out. Loved your reviews Jaime. Thanks
Thanks so much for sharing your experiences with Superga and Sol Sana - hopefully will be helpful for those looking into either brand :)
Hey Jamie, you might get more length from your Golden Goose laces if you rethread them in the way your Common Projects are threaded
YES - the Veja tongue literally cut my skin and the blood stained the shoelaces... I was horrified lol
My go-to sneakers are always Common Projects - I didn’t even realise my feet were narrow 😂
Spring Court are also lovely, but may run narrow, given my love of the above, and dislike of GG for being too wide...
Thanks Ali! Hahaha I’m glad that the CPs work for you - Buying shoes is a little like Goldilocks and the three bears isn’t it? 🙈
Four years is a good inning that’s for sure 👌🏻
mademoiselle yeah they are very supportive. You can also take the inbuilt one out and put your own in if you have orthotics.
I sprinkled baby powder on the tongue of the common projects to deal with the squeaking.
Thanks so much for sharing the tip! I don’t have any baby powder in the house but will try remember to pick some up to give that a go x
Love the series! Fav jeans: Citizens of Humanity Olivia and Toteme Standard. Fav t-shirts: Mott & Bow (hands down) and Majestic Filatures
Thank you! AHHH yes to Mott & Bow tees. They're amazing - I've got a couple and they wash incredibly well x
Thank you - I am your foot twin re: size and foot shape so this video felt tailor made!!
Ahhh amazing!! Hope you found this useful 😊😊
Other basic, mostly/all white/near-white sneakers are the Reebok NPC, Adidas Campus, Nike Classic Tennis, Puma Basket, and K-Swiss Lozan.
Thanks for your recommendations!
Should also say I currently wear Stan Smiths which I find SO ridiculously comfortable, but they’re starting to look a bit too worn
Thank you so much for sharing your recommendations - hopefully will be helpful for those who have narrow feet like you :)
And also appreciate the requests for my next two videos. I'm planning on doing t-shirts first, and will have one fitted tee plus a couple of alternatives to mention based on the brands I'm featuring so hopefully should give a bit of balance xx
I like my golden goose so much, they made my legs look much longer and always look cool with all of my outfits and it’s super comfortable to wear
They’re great aren’t they? The only thing I don’t love about them is the price. Never thought I’d be so into a sneaker that looks worn in from the get go haha! 🙈
Same here!! Its ❤️❤️❤️ super fave
This was great! Narrow feet here and narrow heels-ugh. Size 39. They are like long boats. My thoughts for what it’s worth 🤷♀️:
Veja-have same pair and love them.
Hope you have a great start to your week xx
mademoiselle you as well!
Your videos are always very informative very detailed thank you
Thank you Carla for the feedback :)
Spring courts are amazing! I've got wide feet too and they are so comfortable and style-y
Yes they are ridiculously comfortable - I love it! And thank you for the recommendation xx
I don't know why Im watching this , I don't even have one branded sneakers / shoes hahaha I do hope one day I can buy whatever I want shoes
So glad you found this video helpful 😊 that was my initial thoughts too - the CPs are so classic but were a real disappointment for me sadly 😔
I have puma classic baskets in white they are about £65 and are really flattering on my feel and really comfortable but i have narrow feet. For plain basic white tee Asos design is my go to
Thanks for sharing Helen! ❤️ ooh and will keep that one in mind for the tee video x
Really wonderful review! Best one so far. Thank you for this video.
Glad you liked it!
It would be great if you coukd compare t shirts from ethical brands. There are a ton of fast fashion ones out there. Some that come into mind are Organic Basics, Kotn, Reformation and Sezane.
Thanks so much for the feedback :) I've got one from Kotn, Sezane and Organic Basics which will be included xx
EXCELLENT and informative video. Well done girl!
Glad it was helpful!
If I was set on that style I'd get the canvas ones - those I know from experience are so comfortable! x
Great review. I am trying to figure out some white sneakers. Great information on what to look for. I have wide feet as well.
Glad I could help :)
Tretorn canvas, white on white. My forever fav.
I'll have to check that brand out! x
@@mademoisellejaime Yes. Not too chunky, so versatile, come with terry cloth insole for easy no-sock wearing. A classic.
Loved this video so helpful!
I'm so glad! Thank you xx
Great review!! Try the Veja campo style. No tongue issues. Best trainers I own.
My girlfriend has those and she says the same thing - didn’t have to break them in at all!
Great video! I definitely agree with you on the Common Projects, I love the look but they fit so narrowly! And by the way, the video you referenced about the guy cutting them in half is somewhat questionable. Most of the points he brings up is debatable. The type of leather used is not inherently less quality.
Thanks so much! Yes they're such a narrow fitting shoe aren't they?
Great sneaker review. Was thinking of the Reebok’s as my next purchase. I have the Tommy Hilfiger sneaker and love them . Like you, I have wide feet with a bunion and the TH sneakers are a soft leather and have been a pleasure to wear.
Thank you so much and also for the heads up on the TH sneakers. Definitely a brand I'll have to look to for sneakers in the future :)
Please for the skinny jeans try the 722 from Levi's and the cheeky jeans from everlane and the zara's premium
Also, very helpful I am looking for a high quality leather everyday shoes and this came right on time ❤❤❤
Thanks for the suggestions Camille! And so glad you found this helpful ❤️❤️

ECCO soft sneaker 👟, perfection
Oooh thanks for sharing! I've not tried those ones xx
which ones can you wear for hours without getting sore feet, back pain, or leg aches?? do any of them have proper support? i have converse and adidas and i cant wear them for more than like 2-3 hours because my feet start to hurt with both (the sole of my adidas is so lumpy!!) and the converse my back and legs starts aching
Skinny jeans - please review Jbrand, AG & AGolde. Are you a different size in each brand?
Thanks for the recs! I think I'm going to do t-shirts next and then skinny jeans after. I've changed size recently as I had a baby - sorta in between a 25 and 26 right now though previously was always a 25 xx
such a great video! Love the golden goose sneaks!
Thanks! Yes they’re so fantastic aren’t they? Glad I finally decided to go for them. Never thought I’d like them as much as I do 🙈
My common projects achilles also squeaks whenever I walk too! I thought if I broke them in, they will not squeak anymore but I guess not.
That's good feedback to receive - thanks so much for sharing your experience xx
Such a great comprehensive review! Thanks 😊
Glad it was helpful! x
I just got the GG in the same color! I hope they fit. Also, I have the Veja and they do take awhile to break in. I hate that part.
Great minds think alike! Ahh and same. I feel like sneakers should be the one shoe you shouldn't have to break in xx
Thank you for this. I am definitely trying the Frankie 4 shoes! 💚
You’re welcome! FRANKiE4 shoes are so comfy - you’ll have to let me know which ones you get x
Great video! You need to try Phillipe Model, expensive but they are soo good.
Thanks Natalie - I'll check them out xx
Hi Jamie nice shoes like the golden goose those are gorgeous with the dress you wearing. Great sneaker collection amazing shoes for summer. Have a great day love. XO❤😊
Thank you so much! Same to you :)
But yes, maybe I should cut my losses and sell them on eBay... xx
So you would size down in common projects?
Hi! The style runs a full size large, so yes go down one size from your usual. It should also mention this in the sizing on most websites when shopping for them too xx
If you are are doing jeans next, it would be cool if you can include everlane, madewell and topshop (joni) jeans
Thanks Lara!
Do you wear socks with your sneakers? Or do you wear them barefoot? I noticed you mentioned with some of the sneakers you had problems with getting blisters and having the leather cut into the skin of your feet.
A mix of both but when I was prepping for this video I wore them all with socks :)
Out of these, I've had the same Rebook ones for almost two years now and I only had to break them in a little before they got comfy. However, since wearing them non-stop, now I find myself having to replace them because they are too walked in and give me blisters if I wear them for more than half an hour at a time :/
Oh no you are kidding! Is that because of the lack of padding in the inside? Maybe I’ll have to do an updated video in a years time 🤔
@@mademoisellejaime Yeah, I am afraid so
im new to your channel and i love watching this video for inspiration to have one of this shoes soon 😍🥰 God bless u more ...
Thank you so much! x
Madewell and 7 for all mankind for jeans
I have some from Madewell!! Will definitely be including them x
GG IS MY FAVE❤️❤️❤️🤩 super love it, i have 3 pairs.. looking for another 1
I was so hesitant to buy a pair at first but now glad I did. I can totally get the obsession - id love to look at getting one of the glitter pairs eventually 🙊
Do you own any superga's?
I don't but I have owned a pair previously and I didn't find them comfortable. It sounds like from the comments, that it's all about finding the right pair as the size offering varies between styles. The ones I had were satin too, so no give at all! x
@@mademoisellejaime youbare right with regards to comfort, I own 1 pair and I find them very uncomfortable hence I wanted to know your experience with them. Love your content, all the way from South Africa 😂😊
Awesome!
❤️
You have exactly the same feet as me. Another brand I like is Bared which is orthopaedic and make beautiful shoes.
I've been wanting to try Bared - almost bought a pair of their sandals when I was pregnant. Will definitely keep them in mind next time I'm buying shoes :D
Please do the same for other basics as well..
I would love to! It's going to be a slow series though as I wear the items over time but looking forward to sharing the next one :D
How u feels about your common projects is how I feel about my koios
Hi There!
Seem u had a lot of pain making this video! 😳😧🙁
Hope the other ones in this series are much more fun!
Haha honestly it wasn’t that bad 🙈 shoes are always a bit of a pain if you have to break them in. I’m looking forward to filming more of these! 😊
❤️❤️❤️
I’m at the time in my life I will never choose style or trend over comfort….therefore the word blister is spoken…..I say NOPE….next….
This is now me haha! xx
Lizzy Hadfield has been doing this exact concept for years, you could maybe credit her?
I’ve been getting requests for a long time now to share reviews on basic items (something I started doing more specifically with the “my wardrobe” series last year). This is essentially an extension of that, talking through the wear and tear of core wardrobe staples over an extended period of time 😊 there’s tonnes of videos like this on YT, but that’s a big compliment that you would compare it to Lizzy; she’s so stylish!
@@mademoisellejaime I'm not comparing you to Lizzy, get over yourself. You are copying her Testing Basics and then even named it Best Basics.
Katriina lol wtf? Lizzy isn’t the inventor of this concept, plenty of other people have done it in the past. YOU should get over yourself
Do you wear socks with your sneakers?
I do! I wear low ankle socks which aren’t visible x
Veja most uncomfortable sneaker i ever bought
I have a feeling it may depend on the style - as I've got friends who have bought different types of Veja's and absolutely love them (and say they don't get blisters!). If I were to purchase a pair from the brand again I would definitely try a different style, that's for sure
😊❤️👍
Hope you enjoyed this one! 😘
I hate veja shoes! All of them are impressively uncomfortable, give you blisters and plus I got a knee problem from using this expensive trash brand! Stay away everyone.
So helpful, thank you!
Yay so glad to hear 🥰
im new to your channel and i love watching this video for inspiration to have one of this shoes soon 😍🥰 God bless u more ...
