Over 50 years away from Portugal the most north I travel to Porto. Amazing Serra do Gerês thanks to taking me there. You are brave to travel of beautiful places just your self.❤️💕
very beautiful views there and it's not so usual to have a Portugueese Mountain video, as Seasides are more touristic places. I am very interested with that part of the country. Thanks for sharing it. Many treasures there. 👍🧡
:) I’m from Amares that you visited earlier, studied in Braga and spent many happy moments in my favourite place : Gerês. (Right there is the village “Campo”.). I’m living in the UK at the moment but can’t wait to get back to those places you are visiting ! Enjoy Portugal
You made it to Gerês!!!!! It's literally my favourite place in Portugal, it's my spiritual home. I have found memories of family days out all over the national park and as a teenager wild camping and crazy adventures in this unique place. If you can, do visit the turquoise lagoons, the water is crystal clear. There is a fabulous circular drive from the Vila do Gerês to the hot springs across in Galicia (Spain) where you can actually swim , then head across to Pitões das Junias de 2nd highest village in Portugal and an absolute gem and then down to Cabril. It's undoubtedly the most scenic route in Portugal. Of course eat locally and if you are not vegetarian then you are in for a treat, but if you are take a packed lunch! LoL
@@Solo50plus I like the high ground, the landscape is beautiful and wildlife is wonderful in the north. I intend to explore like you, very slowly. It really depends how I acclimatise, Cornwall where I live is so wet the winter 6 months and the summer 2 hot days, North Portugal has got to be an improvement on that.
Just one hour hike from junceda you have can climb up Pé de Cabril and have a stunning 360 degree view, including the sea and all the valleys around. Totally worth it. Also, where you made a right turn to go up the mountain, if you keep going there's Campo do Gerês and beyond the Vilarinho das Furnas dam and the Albergaria woods, in the heart of the National Park. Too good to miss.
Thank you Pedro. I do a different section each time and I will continue on past Campo do Gerês another day. I also have a list of waterfalls and lagoons to visit so if there are any secret off the beaten track ones do let me know, no one’s looking 🤫 I will definitely go up Pé de Cabril to see that 360 view. Thanks for the tip 😊

Amazing and breathtaking views and silence. I love the fact there is always a young child on a dangerous rock somewhere in Portugal - it is just lovely. Would love to do another hike with you sometime. It brought back some great memories. Any less confused on where you want to settle?
It's so beautiful! As you mentioned that there are not that many markings for the path, I noticed at 13:45 there was a pile of stones like a small pyramid that is a sign that the path goes along there. It's the old fashioned method that used to be used back in the day. You're very lucky, I've never been to Portugal before but look forward to going there one day.
