I can completely agree with him that certain film movements are restricted within a bygone time frame. And it's interesting to consider the term "redemption" in a non-spiritual way. Is it really language that the secular world uses? It seems like all the non-spiritual culture wants to do is to judge and call-out, they don't really seem to give any or at least considerable credence to someone redeeming themselves who has done wrong.

Why edit out the beginning of the question? It doesn't seem that he's asking specifically about redemption and then Schrader basically gives a non-answer.

@@elverdaderojavier The person asking the question was making a parallel between Billy Graham's evangelistic rallies and commercial cinema, pointing both of them out as very manipulative, and asking whether spirituality could exist in such environments. For further context, this is a conversation in a seminary, so it is expected that everyone knows what Schrader means by "redemption".
