First and foremost, thanks for your perspective on this issue. I am from the US, I currently work in the US, and live in Liberia with my wife and kids, since 2018, I know it's interesting. Now, my experiences has been completely different from yours. However, on this topic it's important to also consider the overall behaviors of the liberian diaspora. Most often, not all the time. I have encounter liberian diaspora acting and behaving like foreigners in their own country or maybe they think they're Americans. Normally, People will always treat others based on their behaviors and respect they exemplify towards themselves. However, this term "Decembery" hope i spell it correctly, it's a fairly new term. I don't think it's intended with any downgrading or meant to insult the diaspora. I have talked to lots of liberians in the country concerning this issue. They all say that "the term Decembery simply represents the particular time many of the diaspora liberians comes to the country " that's all. For example, if you visit Liberia in January or July, may August, I don't believe you will be called a "Decembery". Like I said, great content 👍.... keep it coming 👍

Fortunately, i have never been called that before. It would of definitely been a problem if i was called that. Nobody can just give me a name and i accept it. Liberia was not built on that nonsense...sad

What make matters worst is that these returnees talk as Americans, instead of the normal, so as to be readily understood.

Absolutely right. But I also heard that when you speak the regular Liberian way of speaking, somehow the locals still know that you are not living there. They know that you have returned from somewhere.
