The EONE ET201 is one of the most affordable tools to visualize waveforms. It is also a decent multimeter and a safety hazard. In this video I am showing all pros and cons I could find about the scopemeter.
The clip of Dave's voice gave me a chuckle. Beautiful isolation on that daughter board, they should sell it with a welding glove to hold it, rather than a carry case.
me too! literally lol!
4:41 Scared the crap out of me! :-)
Great video Marco, and BangGood have actually used the video on their website! Let's face it, they probably don't know English well enough to understand the criticisms.
Me too
They don't bother because most buyers of this thing use it for low voltage/low current measurements. 99.9999...% of uses are continuity check and voltage check below 30V. For those this tool is good enough. And if resistance/capacitance measurements are quite precise then all is good.
I shat my underpants :(
Clip on critic of the product looks sincere than sale clip, right?

Haha I was sitting on the crapper so no problem here. 😯
And they say that Germans can't be funny! Best..review...ever!
Got me too.
"The manufacturer can circumvent my biggest complaint"
This is a very very good point!
Manufacturers have no idea what we want.
Most of us would be fine with a 250v or lesser meter using glass fuses as long as it doesnt make bullshit claims!
When they do make the big claims though they are obligated to back them in the product.
+1 agree wholeheartedly ... I'd rather have an instrument with full confidence in fully known "lesser" specs than one with "superior" specs I can't really trust.
Man, shis explosion prank got me. II don't trust you anymore...puts protection googles on
He got me, too.
You should use safety squints in this part of youtube instead of protection goggles... :D
shit bruh gave me an anxiety attack.
jeez u scared me :D
Yes Google can send you some googles.😂👻
Hey Marco I love it when you inserted the comment from dave, that really made my day.
I like your style of presentation a lot. Unbiased and informative.
Deadpan humour and informative as well - you've got a sub :)
4:45 I have seen this video at least thrice and only just now did I see "3 AMP MAX. Dont mind me..."
Your videos have so many hidden jokes, this is part of the reason why I keep rewatching old videos.
Wow! Banggood are actually using this video on the store page for these meters!
why shouldnt they..! I hope that every product on Banggood have this level of competence & neutral viewpoints.(non shill attitude.. that woulkd be something that would go a long way in my impression of an given product and shows that the seller have confidence in their product or at least willing to let reality stand on its own two feets.)
and yeah I also purchased one, Banggood had them going for 11.11 USD 2 weeks back at there 11 year anniversary delivered for the MT8205 model (though limited stock and VIP5 as I recall) but in the end 11USD aint a lot, and I usually pay more in just shipping here to Denmark and even when shipping inside Denmark, and here you get DMM 2in1 for 11USD with shipping from the other side of the world, nahh certainly not too shabby..
biggest con is lacking DC scope feature..
// some things that Marco didn't mention.. is has a memory feature where you can record your waveform and DMM readings to some crude extent and second its also has auto hold with a 4.line under each other segment where you can set it on that feature and when it then gets a steady valid reading it beeps and let you know it has taken a steady reading and record the measurement and go on to the next.
you can also vary between the settings with the dial and it will list the dial-setting infront of each reading if its AC or DC or some of the other dial settings.. recall it was 99 readings in memory and something like 3 or 4 for the waveform. (but im a noob on the matter, so I can easily be mistaken to some extent but at the price IM glad I took the plunge when it was going for that amount and imo looks quite decent in black colorway.. )..
here two pictures of the things Im refering too. imgur.com/a/3ca3Sq0
Jakob because they presumably didn’t get his permission much less pay him

opened this video just to check if my background play was working again... ended up staying and subscribing. Good on you
nice work man, laughing my ass off.
feels cute that uni-t now provide the same exact probes with some of their DMMs
German humor - I always thought was defined best with the story of how a painting on a wall would be boobie-trapped, tilted a little askewby the NAZI - because only an enemy officer would be the type that would be bothered enough to have to straighten it. Honestly, here I am 54 years old and this was my idea of German humor. I learned something today!
I love your dry sense of humour, very funny!! LOL
Thank you for ripping it apart and explaining things in laymen's terms.
Shit, 15amp explosion forced me to pause the video to keep laughing.
1:05 Damn, you made laugh like a mad man in the middle of the night :D You sir got an awesome sense of humour!
costs 55$, has an oscilloscope (sorta) but it isn't auto ranging? what a strange multimeter
I think it's price is quite ok for what it does. You'll have to look hard for cheap usable scope meters - like my "cheap" but quite usable chinese CEM DT-9989 starts at >350€..
Also: has a matrix LCD and uses a fake-7-segment-font.
Manual ranging is for a real men.
salat can someone please help me with confusion I have over DC inrush since freaking Fluke can’t even do it
@@salat 350 E can buy real Osc. scope.
Excellent review, and wonderful sense of humor. Thanks!
Im in love with your lab power supply
Thank you for this video.
What is the refresh rate (counts per second) of this dmm?
How about voltage spikes and accuracy?
Thank you
Great review. BangGood should be proud!
Love the bit about the blast shield lol.
Nice video! I never though multimeter review video can be such entertaining 8-)
You are still very witty today Reps, but four years ago you were already still very witty... Always making me laugh. Cheers!
I LOVE the little jokes in your narration.
WOW. Youre awesome man. Really needed a laugh and this was an awesome video. Informative, funny, and accurate. Thank you.
Hah, they actually link this video in the product listing
Oscilloscopes and I go way back. The Hewlett Packard 2GHz oscilloscope was (and is) living in my test equipment tower next to the Hewlett Packard 24V 50A power supply
*Edit: my first scope was a Hewlett Packard 54503A digital oscilloscope. It is still my favorite oscilloscope.
Wow, 2GHz? It's probably a bit newer than the PSU then, right?
Marco Reps yes, it is newer
Love it. Just snagged several to give to customers (so I don’t have to risk my Fluke on site)
Your video could use a nice outro, there's so much fun in the main part, it feels so sad when it just stops. Enjoyed, earned a subscriber! Best of success with your channel!
Thank you! Yeh, I've added a makeshift outro to the newer videos for patreon sponsor messages and youtube links, but something more consistent would be good
What is it with always these problems with creepage, clearance distances and safety issues?
It's not really rocket science to get these things right nowadays?
no, but it costs moneyz
Cost of Manufacturing..... gotta get the last 1/2 cent off the cost of the build.
It's China bro... A lot of the manufacturers make tons off different items and just don't care, aren't qualified/don't know how to correctly engineer the product, and will cheap out are any chance they can get. Their main goal is to produce the cheapest products, even if that makes the profit margins extremely small. Their cultural norm is to go for the immediate satisfaction over the long term benefits. (They'd rather make $10 today than $1000 in a year.) They don't care about things like brand loyalty and repeat customers. Companies like DJI, Xiaomi, Huawei, the company that makes the powered screwdrivers/TS-100, WE Knives, Rike Knives, Lenovo, and others are starting to break away from this. But it's so engrained into their culture that even they do it. (Xiaomi or Huawei did some thing where they used an off-brand SMD in some of their phones to save some money... Micro cents.) And the bad part is, westerners will eat it up. That's why companies like wish.com and Harbor Freight are exploding... Especially the former.
If you actually work with 1000VAC or 20A much then you get a clamp meter ... and you buy a trusted brand like Fluke or Extech ... and I'm guessing the makers of cheaper DMMs know that, so they cut corners.
Man the explosion at ~ 4:40 scared me
Are you saying sand filled will prevent arching? My experience is non fill fuse breaks away from each other and that prevents arching.
'that usualy co-incides with when you dont have a spare hand to refresh it..' hahahahaha
Why did you open the rear cover? Was it neccessary ? The important thing is seeing how it's working
Nice Video!
But if you don't already have a scope, I would recommend buying a used analog one though.
You can get old Tektronix mainframes with differential amplifier modules for that price, which will also measure the mains safely.
Surrealistic Pillow But one of those can't fit in your pocket and catch fire. At the same time.
GR8T reVIEW. Would have loved to seem more review time devoted to the scope feature(s). But I was quite glad with review no matter :) Thank you.
that explosion prank hahahah I had to pause and laugh a bit
this channel is like new EEVBLOG :)
Really good review 👍😊
excellent presentation skills
Hi, could you please briefly describe (or write names) of other units on your desk.. with what you used to test that blue multimeter ?? thanks for video

At: 5:05 - "OVERFLOW MOM" ? The device cry's for mom if it can't handle it's job?
Overflow MOhm (megaohm)
The most surprising thing I found when I got mine was all the buttons were printed in Mandarin.
The mushroom cloud almost made me jump but it cannot beat the bright blue flash from a diode bridge on a Control Laser power supply after applying power and realizing one forgot the plastic insulators between the diodes and the heatsink
0:42 and I'm fucking dying!
Oh yeah, thank you very much! ;-)
I was so focused on the content that I totally missed David Jones. I actually thought it was Marco Reps saying it.
I love your Kiethley SMU I'm very jealous.
Quality review, very well done
This one had me in stitches.
this multimeter is almost perfect for me except of the lack of thermal probe :C
Nice editing, I should try doing stuff like that.
What has accuracy at higher frequencies and true rms have to do with each other? True RMS has to do with giving the RMS value of any AC waveform. This feature is not needed in most measurements since odd waveforms are measured in peak to peak. In the analogue era we did just fine without true rms. The rms value on the meter face was only good for sine waves.
Excellent video mate.
Nice review.......good sense of humor
Useless, because it measures only 10kHz. No audio, no power supply measurements possible.
Very good review, thank you!
Low resolution 10kHz scope in a typical DMM at 600V 10A ~0.5% VDC accuracy (worth ~$50). He does make a good point about it being handy for measures you can't plug into a real scope, though, and it's cheap/mobile enough to be useful away from the bench.
Excellent review !
Thanks. I like your video's a lot.
Amazing!
Nice video! Thank you.
0:54 laughed so hard, even after watching this second time after few months, ha ha ha ha awesome!
Funny how time changes perceptions. Back in the 80s pretty much every hobbyist and engineer would have ripped your arm off for that scope-meter but in 2019 we are complaining how crap it is 😂
a lot of subtle humor :) good review
I have some questions about meters/electrical measurement tools/and one about dc inrush current, both because I have a project I want to complete and I’ve become obsessed with finding the answers. Even EEVBlog forum doesn’t know/agree on the answer. I’d buy you dinner for a few minutes to pick your brain
Dude, is it working properly as shown in the video. I am not expecting any faulty product from bangood
Sir g could you make a video on the outer music sound measurement like guitar sound, other musical instruments'sound
They have this video on their site...for real. They claim to have fixed the voltage issue....apparently as a response to this video. Shows they are good sports....i guess.
Nice
What about it's price in $?
The highest frequency it measures ?
Want find handheld oscilloscope for automotive use, what u recomend?
Thanks sar next video
Please review the new Mustool MDS8207, it's an update to the MT8206 and available soon
Good, funny review....thanks
Will you be reviewing the updated model, the Mustool MT8205?
Marco i have a question, I want to build a variable ps, but instead of using an old computer psu Like all of the diy ps on youtube, I want to use a laptop charger instead and a 5v 0,8A phone charger for the display . So My question is: does a laptop charger have short circuit protection and would it be safe to use. Ps keep up the good work love your videos
Filip Pelemis Not sure about short circuit protection, that probably varies. but as long as you don't open open the plastic enclosure and connect stuff only to the regular output cable I would say it is safe to use!
Reminds me of the Velleman product of similar size.
a fire extinguisher, a blast shield, you forgot some running shoes.
Excellent - as usual.
Best review ever.
What do you call that device you are using the one that generates ampere?
I have asked same questions no answer yet
hey, I found a clone of that heat gun, is it good ?
Danke shon.
Sar yah metre kitne megahertz ka hai
It's not bad instrument at all!
Price...?
selten so gut gelacht :D
At 5:21, did you connect to the wrong terminal?
Nope, O - 10M - O - 20M - O
The explosion..😱😱😱😱
Haha. You are welcome Dave.
What would be a better purchase if I was after some thing like this and was prepared to pay an extra 30 quid 🧐
Thanks for sharing 👍😀
great video!
Please do a review on the Mustool MT8206
well done and funny...subscribed
I expect that EEPROM is holding calibration data.
Laughed my ass off! Thanks for the great review
Sir, price
They took your complaints on safety mesurements serious and present the meter holding it using shiny white gloves, so better take that as an advice and never use the meter without safety gloves! ^^
Could you repair car amplifiers with this
