Geoff, I must admire the quality of this video. BUT ..... you need to get Don to show you how to add running commentaries. That's the difference ...... Don's offerings are really informative ..... pure gold.
I will Peter......I watched a lot of his material before we made contact , it's the best in the UK for sure....

Agree, most of us already know the path, but at least it is necesary to add "captions" in order to show those people who don't. (e.g.: stations names) Very nice images! You can! ;-)

Great day for it. I lived in Huddersfield 40 years ago and regularly travelled to Manchester Victoria. Remembered the really long Standedge tunnel near Marsden.
A brilliant video, a lovely day, excellent Countryside, clear picture what more could you want. I really enjoyed it, bowling along the tracks, thanks Geoff.
Took me a while to work out it started from Oxford Rd using Google Earth - I’m not from around here. Great video, though - captions would be even better.
Agreed. Captions for stations, junctions, and key line features (eg bridges, viaducts and tunnels) plus perhaps interesting line side buildings or landmarks. Good video nevertheless.
Really interesting to see a drivers eye view of a line I've travelled many times. Adding captions indicating main locations would have made it much more interesting.
Very Nice HD video: seen all signal very clear, All point position seen very clear Normal & Reverse, All sign Board visible very clear, All AWS beep green sweet sound and restricted Color yellow , doble yellow and red different sound very clear hearing in video, Really very good video done by team, Thanks very Much all Team
@@geoffmackley Would it please be possible for you to upload a caption version and a non caption version in the future? I don't like captions as it's too distracting and spoils the footage.
Im from area around 21:00. All comments are true that it’s beautiful countryside but it’s lovely and green because it rains. A lot. It rains 98% of the time. I live near London now and the weather is so much better
The new electrification with the overhead wires that ends after Manchester Victoria towards Huddersfield. I was thinking if Network Rail could of continued on electrifying to Leeds and to York via Church Fenton and to allow electric & Bi-mode trains to operate from Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria to Leeds and York using 25kv OHLE.
I think Summit and Standedge tunnels make that difficult for either trans Pennine route, not insurmountable in either case just expensive. The government recently reneged on their promise for "Northern Powerhouse" rail projects such as electrification between Leeds and Manchester.
Lived in Huddersfield for some yrs in a little village called Slaithwaite before moving to Hornsea Loverly Station there even went train spotting at Victoria....
Is this an old video? I thought we would see some of the current electrification work going on between Victoria and Stalybridge! It would be nice to see some of the ongoing upgrades on the route from “The Cab”.
Some very demanding people in the comments 🙄 Those who want to see captions as good as Don's, see Don Coffey's you tube channel there is plenty of trips over this route. I'm happy to see without captions, see more of the route rather than trying to keep up with them! Keep up the good work 👍🏻
It's Manchester Victoria, not Victoria Station in London. Although even that is not quite correct as the video starts at Manchester Piccadilly. Victoria Station is at 6:20.
Lovely countryside. Exploring England/the UK is on top of my bucket list. Thanks to you and Don for a wonderful video!
Surely brings back my memories at Huddersfield

I was in Manchester yesterday. It is a truly amazing city. So cosmopolitan.
Beautiful vid. Station and tunnel captions would be nice for those not familiar with the route though.
If this was a Don Coffey production, we would get a full commentary.
Brilliant photography and such wonderful weather. Any foreigners watching before you think of moving here try a winter first. This is a rare day.
Haha, a very good point 🙂

Thank you for this video. Very nice cab ride in a splendid, summer (?) day and with some beautiful landscapes.

named Victoria > Huddersfield
actually starts at Oxford Road
i am so confused
Thanks for the ride, love the countryside, old bridges and the variety of railwaysignals. That was along tunnel.
That is the Standedge tunnel. In its day it was the longest tunnel in England.
@@malcolmsleight9334 Thanks for that detail.

A lovely journey, great landscapes of UK
Thank you so very much to the train driver for filming this.
Nice vid, but I miss Don's captions saying what the stations are, and any historical bits of lineside interest.
I know, i need to start doing that too

Great video! Subbed.
This journey starts from Manchester Oxford Road, then goes to Huddersfield via Manchester Victoria. Title needs fixing.
Thanks to both of you.

Lovelly to see a canal.
How many miles is that tunnel?
Such wonderful towers.
Please, somebody, what is the route?
What type of train is it?
The one from Manchester to Huddersfield long tunnel
What's the new station called before Stalybridge please
If your on about ashton it's been there for years.
I liked that a lot.

I wouldn't call asking for captions being demanding. Putting them in is a basic courtesy, imo.
Put the full station name in the title, ffs!!!!
It was Manchester Oxford Road.
What train ?
What class of train is it?
this started at oxford road not victoria
its not victoria. its oxford rd
Went through Victoria though 👍
