If you look at the statistics of how many restaurants fail and realize what an achievement being in the same building for 23 years is and add to that being able to relocate and continue... this is amazing
Your father is a truly genuine person. I didn't meet him personally when he came to a restaurant I previously worked, from the account of our staff, he was a pleasure to serve. Very rare. Much blessings to you all.
This shows you that not ever chef/owner is a Gordon Ramsey scream team leader… I’ve never been so impressed with how well your father runs his restaurant it very calming and food is to die for
Seeing that sign @2:22 made a few tears appear. Those freaking onions. I know what it's like working in fine dining and it's fun, stressful, tears, excitement, laughs, memories, family and so much more. What's even more important is the bond your dad has with you and allowing you to be you and letting you grow and not taking it too serious in that environment. Your dad is immediately likeable and that's hard to come by so cherish all the moments and continue to live life to its fullest. Hopefully I'll get to the new place because I've been wanting to try your dads food for way too long. Best wishes.
Your Dad should write a Cookbook, and or a Preparations sorta book. A series of books. Would be awesome. I’d be trying so many new things reading those books.

23 years in 2023. I always think of 23 as Michael Jordan's number, a number of greatness. I'm sure your dad had 23 legendary years at the old location and I think 2023 is the year to start something great, too! Sounds wonderful to me. Congratulations!
You can tell his staff really likes him. That’s not always the case in the restaurant industry.
Chefs are under a insane amount of stress, if the food is bad he has to awnser.

The Singapore ‘slaw is still one of my favourite dishes from anywhere in the world. I spent 12 years in Toronto and had my last meal at Lee when I left 6 weeks ago. Your dad is the man!

The other night I watched an old video of your parents getting Lee Restaurant open 23 years ago. It is a surprise to hear that they are closing and relocating. Your mother was seen talking on the phone instructing the person on the other end to dress you and make sure you brushed your teeth. I feel sad for the staff who will be out of work. It would be great if Susur can re-hire them but it will be many months of not working for these people to wait for the new restaurant to open.
walked by lee tonight and it was such a sad moment to know it no longer existed. had the privilege of having my birthday dinner there and seeing chef before it closed. looking forward to going to the new location!
The memory between you and your dad involving the benches was the most wholesome best thing ever I've seen it reminded me of my dad before he passed away I never really got to have a dad as good as yours cherish him everyday

I never talked to your dad. We shared a communal table in the 80's having dim sum in a basement restaurant popular for dim sum. He smiled at me throughout the meal because the way I enjoyed my dim sum is hard not to be impressed. We nodded to each other,he knew I was a foodie,before foodie became a common say.

wow great memories. I didn't discover Susur Lee's mastery during his Lotus restaurant days. I was so fortunate to dine at Susur a couple of times and was sad to see it close. No other chef can match his symphony. :)

What a whirlwind. The hilarious thing is you were on a long international flight and you didn’t sleep. Each time I fly over the pond or when I go to japan I get buzzed AF on the plane and NIGHTY NIGHT! 😂😂 I’m out. I ask the flight attendant to wake me for meals and then I die. Wake up to eat, read and then rinse and repeat. Booze then sleep… bingo bango we’re on the ground and I’m ready to rock 🤘🏾

I just found your channel recently. Good stuff. Only suggestion is to turn down background music about 5-10 decibels when your dad is talking about what he is cooking. I just finished the lobster one and it was hard to hear him at times.
