My family has a caterpillar 299d2 hp tracked skid steer. We traded in our kubota and upgraded. We use ours for land clearing and manure clean up. Right now we are using a hydraulic limbinator tree limb saw on it . We trim low branches around our fields and for custom jobs for other people . The cat machine has over 90 hp and was costly but well worth the money. Nice video stay safe!
Love our Kubota. Our 318D is sitting in the corner of our shop the past 2 years. JD said we needed a new motor as the number 2 cylinder has no compression. Hard to believe with 2600 hours. Thanks for sharing!
You won’t be disappointed with this machine. -30 c starts no problem. We’ve got 2 like yours and 2 track versions also.To me kubota are the Cadillac of small equipment. The only complaint I’ve got is the cab rattles a bit especially with the door up. Love your videos 🇨🇦 cheers
Your maintenance on your machinery is awesome I see how you get all the hrs out of them that you do cuz there taking care of thanks for another great video Andy
The farm I work for has a SSV 75 kubota and the farm bought it brand new. It’s got 2100 some odd hours on it as of right now and we use it from defacing silage putting sand in clearing snow fixing driveways and loading dump trucks with bales. The kubota machines are great. Easy to work on easy to run very comfortable cab. The one major down fall with our 75 is the skidsteer will do a burn off for about 15 minutes everyday with it running for 45 minutes. Loading trucks it will burn off a dozen or more times. We have 2 John Deere G series skidsteers and are fighting with the fuses blowing on them for the quick attach. I was a strict new holland fan until I ran the kubota.
That’s pretty often. My ssv75 with 2500 hrs burns off for about 15 min every 10-15 operating hours. Try operating at higher rpm, and letting it burn off at full throttle while using it hard
A little story, I bought a 7775 JD, Went to local New Holland dealer for a New Holland same thing, no wonder why JD sold more, it was 4 grand less than a new Holland. Nice Video, have a good day.
Thanks Andy! The timing is perfect, I just got a quote today on a Kubota SVL95-2S and a New Holland C237. I have to say I'm leaning towards the Kubota.
In about 1995 or 1996 the dairy farm where I worked demoed a NH L665 I think it was. We ended up with a JD 6675 because it was cheaper and the NH dealer could not touch the price. Maybe that is why Deere sold more. Deere had the Yanmar in that one I believe. Thanks for the informative review. The Kubota looks promising but i bleed green haha.
When the door is up there little tab on the front you can push that to close the door instead reaching in and pushing the buttons. I love our kubota skid loader. Cadillac of machines for sure
great video. I bought a used New Holland many years ago that was only used for feeding in a dairy. I use it only for snow removal. 10 years later every time I use it the cab gets warm and i smell the sweet smell of alfalfa and silage. love it. I have a new unit that has only that new machine smell. Not the same.
We have a ssv65 with the big tires on it so all the skid steers can interchange tires . It has currently 3500hrs on it and haven't had any major issues with it just normal maintenance stuff and it's in the cow barn pushing feed and cleaning alley ways it's been a good reliable machine for us hope you have good luck with yours
Thanks for the review I would buy one just for that door starting to see more and more Kubota equipment here in Wisconsin we see a lot of Gehl skid steers
Good video andy. Ours is pushing 2k hours, the tires that came on it were junk also i think they lasted about 800hrs like yours. Ours pushes sawdust bedding and runs a side shooter bucket for bedding freestalls both sand and sawdust. We're forever blowing it out for fear of it burning up because of the dpf and regen. It needs pins and bushings on the quick attach plate at the boom ends. The ac in ours isn't the greatest anymore. Overall though its been a good machine so far. I've handled big square bales and silage rounds with it and it handles them no problem.
My first skid steer was an old Thomas T33. Sold it and bought a new holland L150 at a farm auction. I needed a lower profile machine and new holland was the lowest in that class. Nice machine no problems.
enjoy your video’s and how you explain the day to day activities on a daily farm. It is a lot different here in eastern NC. Mostly row crops, tobacco which is hurting in this area, sweet potatoes, corn, soybeans, cotton and peanuts. Few beef cow farms and and a few chicken houses. Keep up the good work.
I had 2 Kubota tractors with loaders, I will say they are built stout. However I had issues with the loaders pins wearing after a couple thousand hours of use. Keep grease in the pins. Best advice I can give. I don't think I got them greased often enough to keep the wear down. 👍
Andy hit the button in the middle of the windshield keep you from reaching in the cab we have had 3 svl75 -2 we mow steep ground here In Tennessee but we like them we have had cat and takeuchi as well so far we like the Kubota better
Glad ur liking the Kubota love my STL 95 except for the 7 recalls they had with the intake and exhaust hope your admar dealer is better than ours in buffalo trying to get anything serviced is impossible
Cheers Andy, Being an ex Skid steer operator I can see that the Kubota is a good machine, I always liked the foot operated boom configurations 👌good too be able to wash out the crap from inside. You get another 👍 catch the next.
At least it’s easy to spot with that funky orange color lol. I’ve heard nightmares out of them Deere skid steers. Neighbor had one that the motor went down in and he couldn’t even find a motor. I believe it was build in 2012.
We have a Deere 260 series 2 on the farm. 14000 hours in the shit for all of them. Has a manure blade on it for that, a bucket for odd jobs and pallet forks. Bought new in 2003, is the original skid steer to that barn, delivered on open house day. That machine is a mixed bag. 14000 hours is a lot, but certain things raised some eyebrows. 8000 hours the engine got rebuilt Hoses under the cab blow out here and there from vibration. I’m not sure if there is an electrical circuit on that thing that isn’t bypassed or has had a relay replaced with a wire or things to that degree None of the park brake problems the first series had Nylon bushings for the handles wear out causing the hydros to go beyond range on startup and stall One sides drive motor got replaced as some hoses were removed one time but not hooked up right after (bang) not the things fault Right side drive chain broke at 13600 hours We have H pattern controls so the hydros are like a hand and foot machine but boom is moving left stick left or right, curl is likewise on right with aux on the floor. The horn button on the left handle quit working pretty quick. The 2 speed button on the right handle breaks the wires inside the handle, maybe 4 times in the time we’ve had it. Hydraulic tank has a hole in it somewhere so it has a slow leak. Tank removal requires engine removal so that one won’t get fixed Curl cylinders keep snapping? Weird but we’ve replaced the left one twice the right one three times and the most it works with is a 6’ manure style bucket of sand It’s the perfect size machine for our barn. It’s our first skid steer we ever had and it means a lot, it’s been through a lot for us. It’s the perfect machine with less than perfect reliability. But when it’s running, which it always starts when called on, even though old and tired, it still gets the job done. It’s got all 70 horses, it’s able to what we need. We are reluctant to let it go because we love it so much. It doesn’t have a perfect track record, and we are pretty hard on it. But it does what it has to. Somehow, the dash is still original and given all the other 200 series dash failures I have no idea how it is still original given all the other electrical issues. We love it but when is enough and where do we draw the line for its next big failure.
I have a New Holland LS190, but thinking of going newer. I was considering the Kubota SSV75, but maybe this smaller unit will do the trick, at a less entry price. Great video, my friend. Ron Stopfer from Junction City, KS
I am pushing snow with the same machine this winter 7ft snow pusher on the front does well I love it. I would have to disagree with the rear lights being no good all our work is in the dark and I have no issues seeing at all.
Nice honest review on the skidsteer , tires not made for many hours it doesn't seem !!! If I remember right you have run some foam filled or solid tires in the past but don't remember what your thoughts were about them!!?? We have a Cat that I love , but that outward swinging door is a pain , had a 260 Deere with the overhead door but it covered up the keyswitch an guages when it was up ! Howdy Andy... Great Video Review on the Kubota... Looks like a really great machine for the job y'all have assigned to it... Have y'all done much research on JCB's TeleSkid and regular SkidSteers with the Side Opening Doors like the one Ryan Kuster from How Farms Work has been using for some time now... Altho he is running a tracked version Teleskid... Him and his family absolutely Love running that Teleskid... I think from a Operational standpoint they do Everything that Normal/Regular SkidSteers can do but then Go One Step Higher with only having Side Entry Doors for Premium Operator Safety and Comfort... Anyways, i always love your videos... Look forward to lots more Great Videos... Keep up the Good Work... Thanx for being a Farmer an... Thanx for sharing...
There a great machine i will have to see what tires are on ours but they have 700 hours on them and still look like new there isnt too many days in the week that we are not using it and it gets driven a quater mile between two farms. Another thing to watch for on those is there is a little steel plate above the seat switch that has a tendency to come loose are give a bit of greif but i was told to sink a couple self tapping screws into it as a preventative
We have 2 ssv65's one has a little over 3000 hrs and the 2nd one we got in December. They have been good machines, with a few issues but it seems like every skid loader that we have had has them, you just fix the issue and keep going. We put the Galaxy hulk tires on our older one after you recommend them, they have probably about 500 hrs on them I don't think they will make it much past a thousand hrs, but that is way better than the 200 we were getting with stock tire's. We have changed the lights out for LED one's and also added a small set of lights at the bottom of the cab to put light under the bucket for when you have the arms raised and the top lights are blocked. I enjoy your videos keep up the good work.
@@moderngamer5741 yep, Cat is definitely the quietest and most comfortable machine out there. The kubotas are a bit of a rattle trap but I doubt these guys care much about comfort. Probably mostly farm hands running them anyways.

I know you have a fortune in green equipment, I’ve owned both. I had problems with Deere. Front axles, engines, driveshafts, universal joints and many other things. One day I said to myself why am I paying for this overpriced green paint and having to do all this maintenance because John Deere decided to cheap out and have quality control run by people from all over the world instead of building and keeping it all here in the USA. I researched and researched and switched to Kubota and have never looked back.they are the only equipment company in the world that builds its own frame, engine , transmission and axles in house. That my friend is what real quality control is all about. Kubota is on the move upwards. They are just starting to break into the higher horse power classes. When they get into the 400 hp /500 hp field tractor class I believe they will dominate. I have had 0 problems with my equipment. If you don’t think I bleed orange, check out my name above, Kubota Oz. Take care, stay safe, Happy New Year to you and your family.
Thanks for the review on this Kubota SSV 65. I know 100% more than I did about them. I bought a M6-141 utility tractor with loader (Kubota) last winter. So far I have had very good service from it, really like the transmission and fuel efficiency so far. (500+ hours) Feeding cows or stacking and loading bales, about 1.5 gallons an hour on average. (6.1 liter 4 cylinder 141 hp gross) I have not worked the tractor that hard (as in haying or pulling an implement)
@@FarmingFixingFabricating I have heard that they are better because they push feed every hour and because feed is moved cows eat more of it, resulting in more milk. I am not in dairy industry so can't say from personal experience.
Great video Andy have you guys ever thought about a bobcat skid steer? We have 9 of them at a landscaping company I work for they have been good machines
@@FarmingFixingFabricating Does that me yes or not sure. I find the design placement of the air intake to be an issue, yet to find a dealer that will address it is impossible.
JCB Teleskid are god machines too. Surprised the tyres have worn off so fast though. I used to use a Bobcat a customer owned and it was on bald solid tyres and was great until they swapped it for a new one which due to new tyres was really jolty and grippy on the concrete yard. Bald is better on a skid steer in my experience but I suppose that can differ between machine brands.
Andy, Is it a gas or diesel and horsepower specs? Would you ever consider the tractors? No, I'm not a Kubota fan necessarily but I like their pricing. I am the type that would make my own sandwich to go with that beer!
I had a fiat 850 spyder that had a huge skid plate on it, you could ride on the snow drifts from the plows with it. I guess that was kinda off topic... ( almost the same color, tho..) That was back in the 70s, what were you doing back in the 70s ???? Great video, cheers. Fixin, farmin, fabricatin and filmin. You should get a emy or something.
@onelonleyfarmer .... could yours have been made by CNH? (I'm saying because JD have no parts unless the whole setup for the traction-unit..... could those be found on the CNH side?)
Stay away from bobcat skidseers with the doosan motors just had terrible luck with them love the ones with the kabota motors in them especially the 773
We got three of them use them for pushing up feed and other small jobs love them and at least for us out here no other dealer could come close to matching lease price that they where offering
Great content. I hope you have better luck with your ssv 65 than we have. Ours does the same chores as you do pushing feed in, cleaning up feed alleys. With that said, ours is 2 years old with a little better than 3000hrs. Continually having break downs since about 1000hrs on the machine. Multiple fuel sending units have been replaced, new turbo, Wheel drive motor, lift arm solenoids, and most recently machine regens too often and then throws a code that limits the motor. Dealership and Kubota HQ cant figure the problem as this is the second go around for the same issue. Maybe we got a lemon of a machine who knows hopefully you dont have so many issues. Other wise its a great machine to operate. Pro-Tip always keep check your lugnuts are tourqued at every service. We pooched a rim and half the studs (probably our Fault). Studs do seem undersized for the machine. We also run 3 New Hollands that we seldom have issues with and they are in the manure daily. - Adam from SE Wisconsin

No problem with where the fuel tank is.Not sure what I would think about solid tires.
@@FarmingFixingFabricating Michilen makes a new design for skid loaders-soft ride and a bar style for traction or one for cement! Will last 6-7 times longer than your air tires
If you catch those tires in time Michelin will retread them, pretty good dollar savings if the casings are good.
Good information.battery easy to get to.does this have a electric fan to cool the radiator? I have had good longevity with galaxy tires.
Have you ever looked into robotic feed pushers . I am just curious seems like it would save you some man power and expense in the long run !!
We would need 6 of them
@@FarmingFixingFabricating I have heard that they are better because they push feed every hour and because feed is moved cows eat more of it, resulting in more milk. I am not in dairy industry so can't say from personal experience.
I think this is a warm up for the red tractor arriving. It is coming 😊
Lol
Great video Andy have you guys ever thought about a bobcat skid steer? We have 9 of them at a landscaping company I work for they have been good machines
We demoed on a while ago
Man, those tires took a beating in less than 900 hours.
Owatonna did make the Mustang.. had one, and it was much like the small Deere..
Thanks for the video. Have you had any issues with the air filter plugging up prematurely ?
Kinda
@@FarmingFixingFabricating Does that me yes or not sure. I find the design placement of the air intake to be an issue, yet to find a dealer that will address it is impossible.
JCB Teleskid are god machines too. Surprised the tyres have worn off so fast though. I used to use a Bobcat a customer owned and it was on bald solid tyres and was great until they swapped it for a new one which due to new tyres was really jolty and grippy on the concrete yard. Bald is better on a skid steer in my experience but I suppose that can differ between machine brands.
We used to bust the doors off the lx newhollands too lol
Nice job. Just priced out a new Gehl kind of a little sticker shock going on here
Bought new Holland's for 20+ years and have the same kubota as you and will never by another new holland again.
Thanks for that review I've ran new holland only for 20+ yrs and I just ordered a kubota ssv65
Andy, Is it a gas or diesel and horsepower specs? Would you ever consider the tractors? No, I'm not a Kubota fan necessarily but I like their pricing. I am the type that would make my own sandwich to go with that beer!
It's a 65 hp diesel and they don't make a tractor big enough
@@FarmingFixingFabricating Thanks for this information.
@@FarmingFixingFabricating Thanks for this information.
the racing slicks it has on it are real.
We use them on our Bob Cats, works great in chicken house not sure in cow barn.
How are Kubota's controls set up? Foot controls or hand? We are used to Case skid steers, great video
They have both
You can get them either way
I'm not sure if they do h pattern (case). All the Kubota skid steers I've ran have been pilot. Really nice machines!
I had a fiat 850 spyder that had a huge skid plate on it, you could ride on the snow drifts from the plows with it.
I guess that was kinda off topic...
( almost the same color, tho..)
That was back in the 70s, what were you doing back in the 70s ????
Great video, cheers.
Fixin, farmin, fabricatin and filmin.
You should get a emy or something.
Easy clean pressure washer comes from my home town ,they sell a ton of them
Change of subjects-any comments on the Harvestore silos. They used to be the Cadillac silo, but I heard that is no longer the case.
Primitive by today's standards
@onelonleyfarmer .... could yours have been made by CNH? (I'm saying because JD have no parts unless the whole setup for the traction-unit..... could those be found on the CNH side?)
His skid steer is A Deere made by Deere
@@martybeaudry5747 you're an idiot
@@martybeaudry5747 get back under your stone
Was just curious what kind of oil you run in your machines and how long you go between oil changes
We run Mobile Delvac and change at 250 hours
Have you looked at the Lely robots for pushing feed back?
We have 6 barns to do
Are the Kubotas a little cheaper than the Deere? I would think they are pretty dependable little machines.
About the same money
them skidsteers must be used alot andy with them hours on. enjoyed the video thanks andy
Good video Andy 👍
Ever tried the rubber track skid steers? Great video as always Andy.
We have a Deere track slid
Thanks for an honest review. Have y’all ever tried Hercules tires?
Yes
Stay away from bobcat skidseers with the doosan motors just had terrible luck with them love the ones with the kabota motors in them especially the 773
Have you ever tried the solid tires with the honey cones holes?
Not yet
Would you demo a JCB skid with the side boom and side door or is there no dealer near you?
Yeah we would try one
We got three of them use them for pushing up feed and other small jobs love them and at least for us out here no other dealer could come close to matching lease price that they where offering
What are you going to buy at the farm show? A can of beer?
Gonna bring my own
Are you going to be at the ag expo this weekend at the fair?
Syracuse farm show yes

Thanks for the comment
Could you do an update?
Nice video and I like your channel!
How do you lock out the 2 speed?
I pulled the button down out of the handle
