    I love basbousa! I sprinkle a healthy amount of orange zest on the batter before baking..gives it a refreshingly awesome flavor.....and use cashews instead of almonds sometimes.

      Sara Star Hi Sara, you can replace the Tahini by buttering or lightly oiling the pan then lightly flour it. Make sure you rest it for at least 5 hours otherwise it won't bake well. Hope it works out for you!

      Hello, you do have to use coarse and fine semolina. Coarse semolina alone may have caused this to happen. I hope this helps!

    Namoura is so good! Thanks for the recipe! Though the kind I ate had a slight lemon hint to it. Is that from a variance of the sugar syrup maybe- or is it from the tahini? Curious.

    • @NaClSalt
      @NaClSalt  5 років тому +1

      That would be from the sugar syrup because it uses lemon in it. But that just means there was a bit too much lemon juice. :)

    • @NaClSalt
      @NaClSalt  4 роки тому

      gigidea did you rest it for at least 5 hours before baking it? That is very important. If you did then maybe you put too much coarse semolina.

    Looks great, but curious ... why let it sit for 5 hours? What does that do?

    • @NaClSalt
      @NaClSalt  4 роки тому +1

      The semolina soaks up the liquid and doesn't fall apart after it's baked

    Wat is the measurement of sugar syrup used in millilitre

    • @NaClSalt
      @NaClSalt  4 роки тому +1

      750 ml water, 1500 ml sugar (so 3 cups water, 6 cups sugar) sounds like a lot but that will yield 3 cups sugar syrup. and about a tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice
