- Join me in exploring Baseco Port Area in Manila Philippines. I made a walk in this community and discover things I wish I hadn't seen, but this is reality. I didn't expect to see how unbelievable the situation of the people living in this area. Baseco Compound or simply Baseco, is a small town in Manila’s port area. Residents are mostly informal settlers with low-income, insecure jobs and limited access to basic services such as education, healthcare, sanitation and proper shelter. I hope you could help me with a feeding project in this area. Send me a message and let's make it happen. I'm sure the people in this community will be very happy. #philippines #4kwalk #walkingtour #baseco #manila #poverty
The district of Port Area is made up of 5 barangays, numbered 649 to 653. Barangay 649 contains the Engineer's Island, now informally known as the Baseco Compound. The Island is regarded as one of the biggest urban poor communities in the Philippines.
