@@ThatCarGuy1983 I meant I loved the escorts in the collection and the cossies..a friend had a sapphire cosworth turbo etc he is an engineer and rebuilt the motor that was such a beast tho. That was quite a few years back ever since then I loved the 4x4 turbo sapphire always wanted one his looked stock as a rock it was in grey.he sold it for $15k NZD.i almost cried because I wanted it and knew it had been looked after no rust at all. But yeah cosworths go hard as Fukk👍
Had a sapphire in the 90s …. Like most, it got robbed off my driveway …. Had m3s m5s since but it was still the best car I’ve ever had, a keeper.

These cars are rare and sought after in the UK, I can only imagine how rare they are in Aussie land!? Can probably count all of them on one hand. Prices are heading up over £40k now so he's wise to avoid track days.

I got 2 tamiya cosworths one is the MICHELIN Pilot 1 which is original from 1993 and the other one is a tt-02 tiger stripe with spotlights and a side exhaust

One of the few "old" cars I saw in Germany kept on the road. Mean little machines. I had a US GT way back when. Not a Cosworth but no slouch by a long shot.
My first new car was an '88 American Ford Escort GT. I soooooo wanted to make a clone of the awesome British version. Back then there was no internet resources to easily gather the parts. I couldn't even find mild tuning parts. Today gearheads have anything at their fingertips.

Love the car one of my all time favourites. But the escort cosworth. Was originally a mk4 escort with the Sierra floor pan. & then ford put wider front wings on it. Then after that they made the mk5 escort cosworth. Not what he said by putting the floor pan of the Sierra in a mk5.

The escort cosworth had almost nothing in common with the mk5 escort and shared almost all of its structural design and drivetrain from the sierra sapphire cosworth 4x4
You want to build an accurate replica, there will be about half of your donor sierra in the finished car and about 1/3 from the donor mk5 escort (such as the dashboard which requires modification to fit to the brackets on the bulkhead which are identical to the sierra dashboards mounts, the door hinges will be from the sierra and you'll need to modify the doors to suit, you'll need escort cosworth specific bonnet and hinges as the mk5 escort ones wont fit the sierras hinge mounts fitted to the escort cosworth, the engine mounts are from the sierra cosworth like the gearbox mounts, notice the longitudinal engine and gearbox opposed to the mk5 escorts transverse setup with no transmission tunnel, the suspension is all altered sierra suspension with almost nothing in common with the mk5 escort.
The escort cosworth is a swb sierra in an escort costume, the mk5 escort is a completely different car that from a distance looks similar and has the same rear lights, windows and roof panel.

It was actually Alf Stewart.
The Escort was unfortunately deemed to be "too small" by Bishop due to the lack of room for his tuba and various other wind instruments, and the driving position was uncomfortable for his belly.
Alf also has a P100 with a Cosworth lump under the bonnet as his daily driver.
Surprisingly his Sister Morag is also a petrolhead, she currently drives an R32 GTR. My kind of gal!

mk2 escort rs2000,s in 4dr bodys are Australia only I was lucky enough to own one in late 80s early 90s and many idiot rs owners constantly sneered and called it a build up id the group1 spec engine with high lift cams twin 45 dcoe webber carbs and it was a fast fucker the ppl who sneered hated it when I left there standard rs2000s in my smoke to this day ive seen 2 real 4dr rs2000,s here in uk one here in Scotland one in England mines was signal orange and had custom spec interior black fishnet recaro seats ,clock pod/cointray custom centre consul and series X 4spoke steering wheel and green tinted glass and factory fitted sunroof I ended up swapping it for a sierra cosworth that had crash damage which I reshelled using standard 3dr shell NOT XR4I shell 6window 3dr and built a copy of the black eggenberger Texaco race car which I wrote off as car was a hooligan compared to escort and twice the power I crashed it and rolled it 6times landed in field upside down bought it off insurance took engine etc added them to mk1 escort 1300e made a scarier car lol if you chopped my arm off it,d say ford thru centre like a stick of seaside rock (candy to those who don't know I now escort cosworth too a tour mallard green pearlessant big turbo model last year of big turbo 92 b4 emissions strangled it with smaller turbo ill never sell it 10yrs ago during recession I paid 16k itd 26k mileage now its on 30k and estimated value of 50k and prices keep rising your collections stunning love all your cars and keep the faith of the fast ford in aus from your uk cuz brian

I love the escort cosworth definitely MICHELIN Pilot one from the wrc ps look on UA-cam and put in the word's cosworth graveyard but be prepared as it will bring tears to your eyes I don't even drive and I was absolutely gutted to see them that way the worst thing is it was 2 things that killed the Cosworth it was .2 over on a ignitions and 0.2 over on the desa bells from the exhaust after the brought the law with it that's what killed it sad but true 😪😪
Why didn't these cars get released in America? If ford had released this model escort in the U.S. it probably wouldn't be in financial trouble now. Hell release this escort and the escort 2000 sport in the U.S today I bet it would turn slumping car sales around

Yeah I'm glad you didn't take offence to that. I searched this car after a funny argument about how Russian cars look like 1989 Ford Escorts. I wanted to remind myself of this car as I'm a bit like you in that I don't always like the look of the new stuff and I was a little surprised to find I now find the looks dated (even though I shouldn't be I guess). I'm a biker so I don't know much about cars but from what I do know, they still use the Escort chassis to this day so with a bit of love, care and modding, I presume the Cozy would still be competitive to this day.

Half the wins it got, was because other teams had dropped out. It won 8 events in 5 years, and not a single wrc....so really it did appalingly. The only thing that keeps the dream going, and the value of these up, is ford fanatics. Absolutely nothing to do with its efficiency or prowess as a real hardcore homoligation car. It looks the part, but that's about it.
