Historically, both the countries are amongst the oldest & largest civilizations of the ancient times and had trade connections with each other even then. Later in the post colonial times both the countries shared a common ground in opposing to be a part of any power blocs. Then head of the nations, Nehru and Nassar along with Tito signed the historic non alignment movement (NAM) at Belgrade. In today's context Egypt and India are trying to strengthen their strategic partnership in the field of culture, cyber security e.t.c While both the countries consider terrorism to be the highest order of threat to the humanity today, it is seen as an imperative to both the countries that they are trying to evolve their bilateral relations. It is pointed out that Egypt having a very strategic geographical location will serve India's need to enhance the trade with European countries through the Suez canal and trading with Egypt can also open up several doors of African market for India. Strengthening ties with egypt will also further enhance India's ties with other Arab nations. Egypt is also considering to import military equipments from India, which India might not deny. India resources oil from Egypt even if it is in modest amount. India also imports phosphate from Egypt for the fertilizer industries in India. These several factors will help strengthen the bilateral ties between both the countries.
Egypt - the strategical location of the country makes it important for the India as it can serve as the gateway to African continent...(and develop global south alliance.)
