The film's Carla has clearly practiced that so she can say it to people who ask what her identity is. It's something she's proud to be. A welcome change in the adaptation.

The main diff is the broadway one sounds more improvised while the movie one sounds more rehearsed. I think the broadway one fits with the context of being thrust in to sing, while the movie one has a nice flow to it. Both are great and I can’t stop replaying this!

Both are great, I prefer the original broadway version more because I like the comedic addition of having her struggling to figure out what to call herself , while inthe movie she more has already came up with this label for herself and just goes with it. however, this is a movie and i think that the broadway version of saying it doesnt translate well to thebig screen and would be a bit awkward so i think it makes sense and good they changed it :) so excited for the film
It might have just been shortened for the sake of the trailer. It does sound like it's been edited down. I could imagine in the actual movie it'll keep that comedic beat.

That's your opinion, but I really love this line. I think a lot of people would have been upset had they removed it. It's more like how Sitcoms without live studio audiences still have jokes to me. Just because it is that style of "wait for laughs humour" doesn't mean people won't laugh at their TVs. That's just why there isn't that space to laugh like in live.

Carla kisses Dani's cheek to wake her up and we see them get up together, overall they are more affectionate with each other than other salon ladies, i think they slow dance with each other, the way they act in Carnaval del Barrio with Dani being all over Carla's lap, Carla calling her mi amor, Carla getting jealous, etc
The way she delivered it so non nonchalantly in the movie is somehow more hilarious to me. The Broadway version sounds like the classic “dumb girl” stereotype, but the movie version sounds like the dumb girl who is just extremely confident in herself. 😭
