Kurt, one mistake you made is calling the birds in constantly without putting food in the loft ... that’s an issue because the birds will no longer associate the whistle with “feed” 100% of the time. You need to ensure that EVERY single time you call the birds in, you at least pour some seed even if it’s just a very tiny amount of seeds
Try letting them all out from the trap door & put a tray with water on the landing board so they can have a bath so once they all wet they wont over fly Let them hang out on the landing board/roof for awhile, then call them in... see how they go
They won’t leave 😂. It’s good for them to go out and fly, u have the upper hand. Just whistle and pour food where they usually eat. No need for u to worry. Especially if they haven’t flown in other lofts
You can lift the trap wires and let them go out through the trap on the roof. I'm very happy to see you letting them out. You should let them out frequently. I wish you had an old pigeon to guide them that always works so well!
Great job buddy they finally went out and you were successful in getting 19 out of 20 back in. All of your pigeons are getting to know the area and they are imprinting on it, I watched a documentary a while back wi the professional racers and one of them used the method of letting them roam around his land before he started flying them. I do agree that instead of the front door you could use the trap door that they are learning to use. Keep it going.
It's there first time out mate . You don't want them all flying around you want them on the ground. Just keep letting them out they will start to fly soon don't stress and don't keep them locked up for longer . They did well even though you let them all out together that was your only mistake . Just keep doing it trust me within a week they will be doing laps around the block
Try to give them all a bath first. When they are wet put them all on top of the roof or landing board for viewing at the same time while getting dry. Who knows they might fly around or go in after they're dry off. That's my tip.
From my experience. Having trees near your loft is always a bit of a challenge for young birds at first. Also, it might of been easier if you just removed the viewing box and let them out from the trap doors right onto the roof of the loft. That might of helped a bit, but no worries. You have good birds. They all will be just fine. Happy flying!
Kurt, I hope that most of your birds returned to your loft. Looking forward to part 2. Hoping for good news. I lost an entire young birds team one year on a short training toss. I have no idea as to what happened. Hoping for the best for you. Basically this is how we learn.
@@ManeyPigeons you had them trained to exit loft via trap , and coming back in also , the birds got the hang of that very quickly. the birds are also used to the internal sliding door to enter avary . i think once you let them out via the avary they got confused a little . love your channel , love the birds , keep those videos coming ! shout out from north wales in the uk
@Lacie Leon in the uk , we would let the young birds take a bath before letting them out . this keeps them heavy and on the loft roof/landing board . after a week or 2 , they wont need the baths , just let them out and go for a fly with crossed fingers .
For Beginners out there. I would muchly tell that pigeons comeback if you take care of them with love. Before you let a young pigeon out to train. The pigeon must be viewed to it's place so it can know where they live or tape long feathers and let them out. Pigeons can't fly if their long feathers are removed or taped. You can only do this method if the pigeons are properly viewed. Then after 5days or 1week you can remove the tape . But if you removed the long feathers well it can take 1month to grow depends but still you can let them view your place , most likely the pigeons will get used to it. If your pigeons are on the ground usually on the roof or some high places. Don't scare them , just let them see the place. If they flew then let them be. Until they grow old they will be really used to it's place.
Keep your spirits up Kurt, you threw us a curveball by letting all the birds out altogether but credit to you for having the courage to do so. I had a feeling about Adam archer's birds being good. You have a lot of good birds but they are just lazy and that's because you take such care of them. Don't let the work knock your plug in mate, you give us great entertainment and a lot of us can help give you a little advice too though ( even though I have never had birds myself I've had a wealth of experience working with them).. Get some more videos up, we are here to support you and anyone who is negative can go to another channel !!
Its always good for them to explore around the loft they just home better if they peck around the loft and explore especially on the first day out let them go out and explore
Hi mate, don’t stress I am literally at the same stage as you but with only thirteen squeakers they only started flying in a pack the last two times I let them out just as you said really need to be patient they do need to peck around to get use to the surroundings I let mine graze the first three times then when they got to the roof I used the flag pole it’s good to run a bath for them when they are out like that
Yesterday a falcon came right down on my pigions as I was feeding them outside,, MY head was to the ground And so were most of theirs eating,. Somehow they saw it and when one moves they all move so no one got grabbed... In fact I honestly believe that when I feed them there's always some that intentionally stay at the periphery of the eating circle who act as lookouts... The lookouts aren't STUPID or lazy and the flock isn't stupid or flighty , they know exactly what they are doing....The falcon was beautiful and not scared of me at all.. I think he wanted me to Feed him too as he just sat there for like 5 minutes on a bush Like 3 feet away from me.

You should have done the soak method. That one is tested and proven. Place them into the landing board first which they're familiar already.. They're not familiar yet using that exit door, when they went out they felt like they're on a total different place. Also don't let them chill on the grass, remind them that it isn't allowed because they will get used to it and in the future you'll have a hard time calling them in.
Surprised they pecked at the ground upon first getting out. Our flock instantly took off and circled several laps in a radius of about eighty meters. They also stayed together.
All of them are excited to go out, Maney yes it's very stressful but is normal, its because first time they went out, being outside of their loft its new to them, that's why there behavior is different. You are ok Maney you are doing 👍 good. I am excited to watch part 2 of this video. Godbless just enjoy what you're doing.
time of training is afternoon, dont feed them too much put some swimming pods it will minimize them from overflying this birds are stress reliever well done mate
Yeah, these birds are tame but not 100% obedient like dogs, you kept them starving but the barren lands had enough food the pigeons like. Keep doing daily this routine if weather permits will imprint the surroundings faster, then you can enjoy them high flying. How many are missing?
doing good, always sprinkle a few drop of feed so they always associate the calling whistle and shake a can of feed so when they in the sky they hear, and see, feed time, tape one wing on a few of them leave on top of coop they see the other birds and come down to them.
Mayhem! Im a first time flyer/breeder. I am worried when i let my new flock out. Guess i will soon find out. Maybe take a few on one side of the estate for a short toss? That might get them flying?
you will be right, your breeding your birds where your flying them, just take your time and start training them trap ect soon as they are weaned away from mum and dad
Kurt, finally the birds are out :-) Don't worry there's always a first time. Just my opinion, I reckon the best way to let your birds out is via the door trap instead of the front door. With the trap you put on top of the green landing board...may be make a door from the front...once they're all there then open the door from the trap and let them out that way at least for the first couple of times so they get use to it. As you've been training them several time already by getting them flying out from the door traps which they're already familiar with. Just a suggestion...hopefully all your birds will make their way back to the loft soon. Looking forward to see Part 2...Good Luck Mate and fingers crossed.
Just call them in and for the first few times open the trap and let them go out on their own. It is not bad for them to have sometime to spend on the ground. It is good for their health. I let my for half day or some times even longer. Going good.

Hi Mate, to get them to learn to stay together why not release them from one of your training baskets on the other side of the field. You see what happens when they are released from a race, this should help learn then to stay together.
Hi KURT KEEP THEM ALL GOING OUT EVERY DAY. TODAY THEY ARE JUST LIKE LITTLE KIDS JUST RUNNING RIOT, IT'S SOMETHING NEW FOR THEM. THEY WILL GO BACK IN BEFORE DUSK. TODAY THEY ARE LEARNING THEIR ENVIRONMENT. TRY LETTING THEM OUT A COUPLE OF HOURS BEFORE DARK, THEY WILL BE MORE RESPONSIVE. BUT NOW THEY HAVE BEEN OUT I WOULD KEEP THEM GOING OUT EVERY DAY. IF YOU KEEP THEM IN NOW YOU WILL BE BACK TO SQUARE ONE. YOU MIGHT HAVE TO ENDURE A COUPLE OF TIMES LIKE THAT BUT THAT'S BABIES ISN'T IT. DON'T WORRY THEY WILL BE BACK ITS ALL A LEARNING CURVE FOR THEM.

Scratching around is good for them, they need a bit of gravel to help with digestion

What is a split please ?
Those are beautiful Galah parrots
Hi Mate, to get them to learn to stay together why not release them from one of your training baskets on the other side of the field. You see what happens when they are released from a race, this should help learn then to stay together.
good idea!
Thanks ill get them out tomorrow in the evening! lets see how we go!
@@ManeyPigeons HI KURT ARE ALL THE YOUNG BIRDS BACK IN THE LOFT?
