I would imagine the intruder is looking for food. She’s having to fish for herself if unattached. The finding a mate and egg laying season is more or less ended now
The female intruder has a mate, but the pair were obviously checking out the 'real estate' - it's always easier to take over a nest site, than build one from scratch. Likely these were young birds still trying to establish their own territory.

Amazing drama. These are such strong and fearsome birds but one roots for them all the way. Also very beautiful.
Thank you for sharing all the action, this female intruder is relentless. Good on NCO, I hope this doesn't happen often.
💞💙
Poor mama having to work so hard defending her littles. Hope it doesn’t keep happening too ❤
Life in the raw. This pair are more than equipped to fight off and succeed over a single/pair of striplings ✌️⭐️👍

That's fascinating @@ScottishWildlifeTrustvideosIs the male ringed, or have we seen him & not known? Thank you
@@suzycat2026 LM12 (Lowes Male 2012) is not a ringed bird - he landed on the nest with the fish during the incident
I meant the mate of intruder you mentioned above@@ScottishWildlifeTrustvideos The intruder has a mate? Thank you
@@suzycat2026 Both intruders (male and female) were unringed and seen from the hides
Where is the Male?
Out fishing. 3:16
What is the intruder's intention by attacking the nest.
To try and oust the female, or pair and claim the site has her own
@@ScottishWildlifeTrustvideos is it not too late in the season for the intruder to breed though? Or is she trying to get it for next year's season?
