- Andy Timmons at the Thoroughbred Music Guitar Expo in Clearwater, Fla. 1993 (?). This was the opening song to Andy's demo and it blew everyone away. I knew of Danger Danger but did not know of Andy's virtuosity. I became an instant fan after his perfomace. Purchase Andy's "ear X-tacy" CD to get the studio version.
A true monster. No one is this good. The best in his class. Period.
Met the guy about a year ago at Tree's in Dallas. Brought his wife and son to the show after melting our faces off. Absolutely, note for note, perfect, and humble to boot. Absolutely amazing human being.
That is the most shredded fucking thing i've ever heard
Did you hear the studio recording of this on the album That Was Then This Is Now?? It's DISGUSTING. The speed...the liquid tone of the Mesa Boogie, the precision of the Ibanez, the lighting in his hands.
Strap in, buddy :) ua-cam.com/video/Z4xOfMGh73g/v-deo.htmlsi=8ZnOj68bC8HuaJeR
This, right here, is what lead guitar is all about. I challenge anyone to sum it up better than that.....fucking Incredible balance between music and technique.
Great call!
THAT......is a BADDDDD MANNNN.
Best guitar player in the world!!!
this guy open a lot of minds so long time ago about feeling and tone,,,some guys around play too similar on these days thinking they´re original...
He was only in his 20s here, He made a right choice by going solo. Because he is FAR TOO GOOD for some glam band that didn't even have a hit. For those of you who never checked out Andy's solo collection are missing out. He is so versitile, He can shred like Satriani, chicken pick like Vince Gill, and play bluesy jazzy stuff like Larry Carlton. A world class player he is.
I love monkey business.
I love Beat The Bullet
Shred like Satriani isn’t a compliment, he’s way better than watch in shredding.
Danger danger is really great but yeah I agree his solo work is way cooler
He's one of the best period for any decade and any genre.
Who needs all the shredders, when someone like Andy can truley play from his heart!
Man was this guy born with a guitar in his hand or what. Damn.
Mr. C I know. It’s an ungodly level of skill.
Definitely one of the best guitarists.
When i think his sound was already superb
Andy : go full power
this clip is great!!!He is the TOTAL PACKAGE.
i just love this dude..he can play all his song like studio versions...
a true master
the first time I saw and heard this song was on an Ibanez guitar vid that came with the starter pack. cool shit to see it all these years later.
Same here.
Masterpiece!!
remember him back then 23 years ago doing it it and looking like this and he was such beautiful person Stevie Ray was makin tracks about the same time when Stevie passed we were all in shock! Andy wrote a beautiful piece in memory of that.. i remember when he introduced it.. that was so long ago.
Underrated
Nah. People who play, and pretty much anyone who’s seen him, know he’s a true virtuoso.
My only wish is that more people would know his music. G3 is a great vehicle, but Andy deserves to be selling out stadiums. There should be 10,000 people hanging on his every sweep and pinch harmonic.
Wrong, people who know, just know.
Andy was ahead of his time even back then.
pure and genuine talent
BRUTALLLL
God bless Andy. He's great!!! Trully musician!
What a sound, what a player... Go Andy!
He has to be the best guitarist ever! I just love how he plays! =D
SUPER GUITARIST.
You’re all wrong. While this is amazing, comparing him to Vai or Satriani is a discredit. Totally different style. Andy, as he matured has shown an mirage of technique and ability. Love this guy. His latest is my favorite.
Master of Tone!!!
It makes speechless how good he is
Clear tone..👍👍👍
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G !!!
Holy crap!!! Young James Hetfield did know how to shred back in the day! Lol
Don't ever disrespect Andy like that again
Andy Timmons is amazing, legend to this day 🤘🏼
This is the pure passion !!!
I'm seeing him live tomorrow, so excited!
Wow, this video is a true jewel. I discovered Andy's music in 1991, when he was a member of Danger Danger. I always thought he should release a solo album and then in 1994 BAM! Ear-X-tacy came out. Fantastic album & fantasic six stringer, multi-talented musician. A very special one.
oh my GOD i literally have been waiting for andy's older videos to appear on youtube for few years now. Thanks 100x for uploading shinyranker!!
OMG !! YES!! GO ANDY!
Yup
He's the real deal
i love him
SALUDOS DESDE LIMA PERÚ
A. T. é um monstro .
so glad someone captured this stuff
good,nice playing Andy Timmons...
amazing!
best tapping ever!
Masterpiece
Lo que toca este bonito no tiene nombre!!!
Sounds kinda Joe Satriani like. Andy is always great!
agree. Andy is perfect.
The biggest difference is that Andy is better live than on record. Satch is great, but he does not have NEARLY the same precision and natural attack on each note. And he often forgets his own Melodie’s. Andy is the most “intentional” player I’ve found, and I have been on UA-cam almost every day since 2006.
AWESOME
Thanks so much for posting these vids, love 'em!
Rock Star
HELL YES !!
Andy absolutely is in a class by himself...toatlly smokes the G3 line up which explains to me why he has never benn on a extended with them. These are some of the greates progressive rock licks EVER heard....unreal.
@racerx3065 - I did record it and yes, everyone was blown away. Carpe Diem was the first song he played. There was a small crowd gathered and by the end of the song, the crowd had grown huge.
that shirt always cracks me up
Oh hell yes !!
February 25th, 1995: Thoroughbred Music Clearwater.Vinnie Moore and Steve Morse were there as well.
Can you give more back story?
I bet they were impressed by young Andy Timmins playing.
Wow would like to see Andy and Johnny Hiland together.
I might hang up guitar and take up hang gliding so I can listen to Andy.
My my. God like fingers.
Man put the videos in HQ
Timmons is the man!
Dude was bad fuckin ass back then!....
is there anyone better? i dont think so
Uhm yeah there are
@@FlyingIceman198 This is a video of him as a kid. This guy is arguably one of the best of all-time. Watch his other stuff. You know when Steve Vai does a video and all he talks about in the video is how good you are, you are one of the best. Just watch the Steve Vai videos on Andy Timmons.
@@warrenmooney9422 Im not arguing with you that hes an exceptional player, but there are bigger fish out there like Buckethead for example.
@DemosthenisMountrakis I am not arguing with you either. Buckethead is phenomenal technically but not very melodic and after about 5 minutes of watching him I'm done. Andy makes his guitar tell stories and can do thing with his guitar that very few people can do. I was watching a video one time with Steve Vai talking about Andy Timmons and how he is able to use his fingers on chords to pull strings sharp in the middle of the chord to make sure all the notes are in tune with each other. This is also phenomenal technique. The guy also has some of the best tone I've ever heard. Buckethead is badass too. Really comes down to personal preference.
@@warrenmooney9422 I agree :)
U rock!!! \m/
@shinyranker Thanks!
3:42 I guess we are in the south US?
Summer Song Boogie? There's no way this guy isn't another student of Satch.
You're right, he himself has said several times that Satriani is one of his main influences.
The pupil surpasses the master.
I love Satriani, but Timmons is light years ahead of Satch. Satriani is stiff and mathematical. Timmons owns his instrument. It’s an extension of him. He is always in control. One of the greatest of all time
@@Thrasher987 i think you bit harsh on satch, but i agree with your point on timmons
@@Maorsol perhaps I’m a bit harsh on satch. He was my first guitar hero. I love his work. He’s one of the gods of melody. I just am mildly disappointed when I watch him live as he doesn’t seem to play the music as much as he seems to play the notes.
Nice playing....and....nice helmet :-)
Andy is awesome. So melodic..Sounds like Schenker on Nitro.
The One Above All Listen again it's a complete "tour de rip" of Joe Satriani
Kelly Jackson Hints of surfing with the alien. But much better. Andy can play circles around Satriani.
The One Above All Umm ,Surfing? right away we get the main theme from "Summer Song" and the rest of the song is just a bunch of Satriani-ism's from many albums. Andy was one of many of Joes' students Hammet Vai Lelonde etc etc Sorry but Joe is the one who would play "circles" and well, he does lol.
+Kelly Jackson this was way before summer song lol
@Kelly Jackson
He never took a lesson from Joe.
Timmons in the world of players is top tier. Joe hasn't done shit in 25 years.
What in the actual fuck.
Right?!
To be able to play that with an A.D.D. tech playing with all his shit and holding a conversation mid flight, then have some idiot flick the wrong switch. Man he is brilliant.
Posted all I have. 4 total - Carpe Diem, Hiroshima (Pray for Peace, Bust A Soda, I Remember Stevie.
Enjoy
sick shit !!
He and Alex skolnick should have a duel.
Alex Skolnick would lose. This guy is way better!
He never used jackson guitar, at the beginning of his danger danger times he used kramer guitars.
I agree that he sound awesome with any guitar.
Aproveite o dia
@shinyranker when you were recording this (if it was you) was everyone not completely blown away by andy's playing? because this is just amazing!
@mitosinuca You mean Janick Gers.... Yeah, I thought so too! :P
dude how did you go to this? a friend invited you? did you know what to expect? at this point andy had not even released an album.. Im curious!
head off...🎸🎛️🔊🎶🤘🎅🤘
@cab0om Texas baby
Wow some nice videos. Do you have more?
anyone know where i can get the backing track hes usin in this vid? i dont really like the one on guitarbt and such
FUCK
GREAT SOLO
@Doulipa it's called an anoying tech!
Amazing tone! 1993 ... Will be using dimarzio fred or tone zone?
Aqui, creo que el no tiene mas de 30 anos
Where is this place. Somebody know?
+VICTOR FERREIRA Thoroughbed Music guitar Expo in Clearwater, Fla, 1993.
In my opinion, he's better musically than Steve Vai, and almost indistinguishable to Joe Satriani
I agree with that. He is every bit as good as Vai and Satch. You know when Vai comes over in a live show and hands his guitar for you to play you are bad fucking ass.
@Kozmonot91 Too funny. I didn't notice this guy constantly tweaking things until you mentioned it. Everything was fine...why he feels the need to constantly tweak!?
@SoundAfficionado1 Hahahaha that made me laugh bro!!!!
@cab0om It's call a tech.
Did Steve Vai cover this song? I swear I heard him play it.
@rafikimetalperu
I understand what you mean, and how you see it.... But a shredder to me is someone that has the ability to do so . Either it be a incoherent mess or a practical use of it. It's not a put down.
But now I'm curious as to how you would define the real talents that tearing it up with class??? If they are not shredders
ahahaha, this is the best comment EVER :D
he looks like David St. Hubbins. doesn't play like him, though.
Holy shit, is this dual recto head?!
Alright Andy, play that guitar....
thor von clemson
@gregorguitar
This isn't shredding ?!?!?!?! Please
