Them killing Natalie would have been so stupid and ungrateful, she is their best hunter who kept them all alive. Same with Shauna, she is needed for her skills. I dont think its smart that everyone picks a card.
shauna is a main character and all but nobody needed her lmfao. what skills did she have other than getting pregnant and causing Jackies death? They needed Nat and Misty and Lottie.
I think Van was the only one not shocked because she has accepted a while ago that violence is their only way to survive, that's why she had that look and always seems to be more far removed emotionally from tragic situations. I think her rough home life made her a survivalist before the plane crash, which is the reason for why it's easier for her to assimilate to the situation.
To say nothing of almost getting burned alive in the crash, getting her face mauled by wolves, and almost burned alive yet again when presumed for dead.
Yeah people hate on van for how she reacted to Javi’s death but honestly, I don’t blame her. She’s starving and in complete survival mode. The only way she’s going to get through this is by adopting the mentality that she has.
Nat consented to this concept of dying and she had the choice to save him. Thus, Nat is morally a bad person and should be blamed. Yes, I suppose being stuck in their situation, it wouldn't be easy for their or our brain to consider the actual context, but my argument is that placing Nat out of the equation is pretty much bad reasoning.
@@captaindesperatehousewife7138 i mean by that logic javi also consented to dying by the choice of the wilderness, since he drew cards as well. but javi wanted nat to save him, and nat ran from the girls to save herself, because neither of them wanted to die, and their 'consent' didn't mean shit. talk to me about morality all day, but instinct is the only thing that matters when you're forced to choose between your own life and someone else's. it's the girls who are at fault for this, not nat.
@@tabaxi stop trying to take the blame off natalie. just stop. you clearly do not get the concept of the show if you choose to ignore these character's flaws, she did what she had to in order to survive - she's still wrong for doing so. no one is innocent.

@@thoseradstars To be honest, the character I ended up hating the most was Misty. Natalie I honestly I'm still in shock. At least she tried to do the right thing (ex: getting the cult girl her fish back, faking Javi's death to keep him safe, trying to save Javi when he fell into the ice, not buying into Lottie's cuckoo cult shit). Misty on the other hand, first season: cut a dude's leg off, laced food with mushrooms, kills a lady who was being held captive by her. Second season: stops Natalie from saving Javi based on all the girls' reasons for survival, followed Lottie, killed Natalie.Hell, the girls wouldn't be back in the mess had Callie not been screwing the cop. It's like it's illegal to be a good person on the show or any show nowadays!
misty killing natalie literally wasn't even on purpose though.. she was going to kill leah and nat jumped in front of her and sacrificed herself instead. it was her way of redeeming herself in her eyes for not being able to save javi back then. and i also don't fault misty for amputating ben's leg either; it was literally crushed underneath the weight of the plane and he could have died from infection had she not done that. the food being laced with mushrooms was mari's fault bc she put them in the food, misty wasn't responsible for that but i will say she was wrong for trying to use them for ben in the first place. i'm not the biggest fan of misty but it's easy to explain some of the more insane things she's done based on her actions and the desire to be valuable to the team.
misty's whole character is based off doing crazy shit so the other yellowjackets will rely on her when things look bleak/grim. she has sociopathic tendencies and is very delusional, but she's also fiercely loyal and that's why even when they don't want to, they still turn to misty for help/guidance. it's not hard to miss these things when you watch with an unbiased viewpoint.

Misty is the ultimate pragmatist. Javi is the youngest/smallest isn't as popular in the group hierarchy and can't hunt so she throws him to the wolfs by placing her bets on Nat. Always goes with the most powerful.
I don’t know why but I love everything about this scene it just shows how different they were compared to who they were the first few days after the plane crash and just how much they’ve all practically lost their minds to the wilderness and the famine they’re all experiencing
I hate that they killed and ate Javi but to those who are confused, they are NOT portraying the main female leads as good people. They are messed up but we are led to understand what made them like that. They had to do what they had to to survive, they are clearly without mental wellness resources, and/or there may be a supernatural force out there influencing their actions. You're not supposed to think their actions are correct. Just because there are parts of them that are good DOESN'T mean the show is excusing their bad actions. I HATE what they have become but because of the complexities of their characters, that makes for an interesting watch. People get mad when women are portrayed as infallible and saintly (Mary Sue, they call it?) but when you make them nuanced and complex, you still get backlash.
this whole sequence of events is so fucked -- deciding that they HAVE to save Lottie despite her practically being on her death bed (and despite her saying if she dies she wants them to eat her, showing she's kind of already accepted her fate). To me, and maybe this is the whole point, it feels like they are playing God, not the greater power they talk of. I do believe though that there's some higher power/supernatural thing going on, but still, I think it's very interesting how it's very half and half. The whole group screaming and howling like animals is insane, it really highlights just how animalistic these people have become. Also, I'm still so hung up on the fact that, besides Travis, the only hunter of the group and the only person who's really trying to find resources and food outside of, well, people, is the person who pulled the Queen card. Dude, the ONLY person who's making an active attempt to get food for everybody is the one who is going to become the food, that boils my fucking blood like I would pull that knife right out of Shauna's hand and run on all fours screaming and chasing them around the cabin. lol. Anyways. There so obviously could have been other ways, ANY OTHER WAY than setting up some "game" that determines your upcoming brutal death, and I know the winter is what's making their food situation near to impossible but I mean, I don't know man if you've all already lost all your humantiy to the point where this type of game even so much as enters your mind, just starve. Everybody who survives ends up bringing death back with them, whether it was a death of a relationship, or a literal murder. I mean this scene was just so fucked, let alone the fact that Nat's the character who had to fake Javi's death, sewed him gloves, and ends up watching him drown helplessly wearing said gloves. As much as I love this show it is causing physical pain to my heart, and rooting for the girls is becoming impossible, specifically their teen selves. I can't lie I am rooting for adult Misty, it's my fatal flaw. Jesus Christ I wrote so much. RIP Javi, you had like 18 lines this season but I loved you anyway! edit: also Van shut the fuck up.
My guilty flaw is Shauna like her descend to madness is intriguing to me for the simple fact she was the quiet girl , always in Jackie’s shadow and seemed pretty mild mannered but in those woods something dark is coming out of her . I like Adult Misty but I lost all respect and blame her for most of the deaths because she destroyed the plane recorder box.
@@Cuttatv that was the flight recorder, not the location transmitter. That box was only for recording in-flight information for the purpose of determining the cause of the crash AFTER rescue. The tracker on that puppy only works underwater and besides if it had been a working tracker, they would have already been in the ballpark of being rescued by now.
Javi tried to help Nat after she left him for dead, this was the second time she left him to die when he was HELPING her survive. Its so disgusting javi survived alone for so long to be immediately killed by these girls.
To think that she could've been more of a hero, had she not destroyed the flight recorder and brought it to her teenage crush Coach Ben instead. I'd picture Misty being in a courtroom inside her mind, when her time comes. Walter as her defence counsel, Ben as the prosecution. With Crystal/Kristen as the star witness who pins Misty with her testimony. As the verdict is read out by the fore member of the jury (which in my opinion should be Jackie with Laura Lee presiding as the judge), Misty breaks down, becoming an emotional wreck as the weight of her misdeeds takes it's ultimate toll. Then an apparition of her younger self appears not as a form of comfort, but to further torment her by saying in a debasing tone of voice... "Don't cry Misty! Babies cry!". To which everyone in the courtroom repeatedly chimes the phrase... "Babies cry!" Misty then mentally plummets into an endless void screaming, as she takes her last breath on this earthly plane.
I highly doubt they would’ve been rescued even if she didn’t destroy the flight recorder. It’s not her fault but she’s still awful because of her intentions behind it. She’s the only Yellowjacket I genuinely despise

Along with Misty and arguably Shauna. Like Misty is invaluable and so is Natalie, and while Shauna is lowkey replaceable in the time it would take to train her replacement they might as well just keep her and kill the replacement but yes, exactly. Some of them should not have been in that draw and it was dumb to put them in there to begin with. Like, what happens if another one gets knocked up and they've killed off Misty? But at this point they were deep into the cult and deep into insanity. Call me a pussy but the death of Javi was legit to much for me. If he died a seperate way maybe I could get it. But this pisses me off.
It make’s perfect sense why they left Javi die instead of killing Nat. For starters, “the wilderness chose.” Since he fell and would certainly die without help, they could absolve themselves from their part in his death. Second, he wasn’t very useful and only served as a distraction, but most importantly, they didn’t have a personal relationship with Javi before the crash so leaving him to his fate was preferable than killing their actual friend. Why not Lottie or Ben? Because Lottie is the hope of the group which is necessary for survival. As for coach Ben, they have a better relationship with him than Javi and he wasn’t there when it went down.
The only young teens likable are Nat Javi and Travis. As adults, they’re a little likable. I think Van is great but she’s as demented as the rest. And Misty is simply there for chaotic humor

Some interesting thoughts. On the subject of homelander, that is an intentionally hateable and unlikable character, so im not sure it really applies... however I think Walter white is an excellent example though, dude does terrible things but because it's filtered through the lens of the audience, people sympathize with him. I'd say it's similar here. Terrible things being done, but the audience has gotten to know these characters deeply, so they find ways to justify it. Honestly think it's fine to either empathize or be digusted, or both at once. It's a rough situation and different people will have different levels of toleration for it. Wouldn't say it's misogynistic to be disgusted by cannibalism or kids murdering eachother.

Omg right! So much of the writing felt so contrived and unnatural. The only thing I liked about this season was how it showed that most of girls are truly evil, which season one didn’t really reveal.
Honestly, I didn't like it, but not because it "impressed" or "shocked" me. It's just that with each episode, everything becomes more no-sense. When Shauna and Jackie had their argument, even though it was a "simple" argument, everyone sided with Shauna and agreed to exclude Jackie. So why is it that now, when Shauna puts Lottie in a coma, no one says anything to her? Why randomly choose someone when they could have chosen Shauna, who was the reason Lottie was about to die? Honestly, it all seems no-sense to me. The only possible explanation is that they believe the sacrifice must be ritualistic and chosen randomly, but even in that case, it all seems illogical.
i get that, but they’re also a bunch of teenagers starving and experiencing delusions, so we can’t really expect them to make the smartest of decisions. also i think they let shauna beat up lottie cause the power dynamics between the group are shifting but ido
Youre not WATCHING the show. Jackie was an outcast at that point, her death wasn't planned but they still contributed to the reason she died even if it was an accident. And by the time Javi died, he was also an outcast. Lottie told the group that Shauna needed to get it out and to let her, to kill Shauna after Lottie sacrificed her health would be insane. Also Shauna still has worth to the group, she is the butcher the one who is making their food. Javi didnt have any worth to the group, the wilderness seems to pick the ones who are outcasts. He had been missing what two three months by this point, he missed all the hardships they've faced during the winter, he seemed to have a "friend" who isn't in the group. They pick from the cards and Natalie was chosen from the cards, but to them Javi was picked by the wilderness as he was the one who fell into the lake. If you watch these girls outcast the ones who are of no use in their minds, Ali in the first episode was cast out even before the plane crash happened, the only reason she was spared from the crash. Jackie was sulking around after the crash. We can assume now that we are seeing what these girls think they are seeing in their current states, yes unreliable but that is how they are seeing this.
@@syd1764 Just because I don't share your exact perception and opinion of a TV series doesn't mean I haven't watched it or haven't paid attention. While I understand your reasoning to some extent, it still doesn't convince me. Natalie is also crucial: she was basically the one responsible for procuring food (except for the snow issue), which Shauna then butchered. Based on your reasoning, the coach should have been the one to be sacrificed at this point in the story. Honestly, I can't fully agree with you, even though I do agree with certain aspects (especially the whole "wilderness" concept). However, as it stands, I believe Yellowjackets is more of a visually appealing series rather than one with profound meaning. I don't see a logical progression or consistency; it feels more like an excuse to explore the girls' descent into madness, particularly Shauna. And honestly, I'm fine with that because, even though it's not a "serious" series, it's still enjoyable

Realistically she could never pull him out on her own, and none of those girls were helping: the survivors guilt is that she stopped trying when she realized if he lived she died
Both - she wasn’t strong enough to pull him out alone because drenched winter gear is extremely heavy, so she asked for help. But when Misty pulled her back & basically told her “it’s him or you,” Nat knew she was right and stopped trying.

The only way she’s going to get through this is by adopting the mentality that she has.
not yall blaming Nat when she was just as powerless. the power was in the other girls. if she saved him, she would’ve died.

Supernatural? Being stranded in the wilderness would make anyone fucking mental there’s not evil forces at play 😂
this whole sequence of events is so fucked -- deciding that they HAVE to save Lottie despite her practically being on her death bed (and despite her saying if she dies she wants them to eat her, showing she's kind of already accepted her fate).

Never ever forgetting. I hope that bitch gets her karma soon.

Men in the comments: trying to judge people starving to death/ being generally misogynistic from the comfort of their gaming chair
(Do you fellas have this same energy for Walter White/Homelander or do you guys just hate women?)
Yes, I do have the same feelings towards male characters that commit morally reprehensible acts. They are all morally reprehensible characters that deserve the worst possible karma. You can perfectly enjoy a story and wish that all the unhinged and evil characters from said story get what's coming to them in the end. I don't know why this is so hard to understand.
@@ArkhamAsylum1505Nothing wrong with how you feel about those characters so what OP said doesn't apply to you.
There are commenters around here though who seem to follow the logic that just because the main characters do bad things, it means the show is endorsing these actions. This completely forgoes the nuanced way of consuming fiction with complex characters that aren't saintly good.

@@beachbeauties4385 It’s so funny because literally everything about Nat’s character contradicts your claim of being a “coward.” If anything she’s the bravest one there. She’s the one going out daily risking her life to find food but still was willing to die to feed the group. When she first drew the card she accepted it. She made Shauna look her in the eye before she died. She was going to die for the group until Travis gave her a chance to live. Javi wasn’t really risking his life to save her since he wasn’t being hunted. As soon as he fell in that ice it was over for him. #2 Why is the wilderness choosing to bother them 25 yrs later ? Someone had to summon it ? It’s been 25 yrs why is it returning to stir up trouble ?
#3 when they ended I think s1 episode 6 after Lottie killed the bear and offered the wilderness it’s heart . She said, “ let the darkness set us free.” So in a way like Misty stated she started this crap.
#4 Did the group ever find out that Misty destroyed the flight recorder box ?
#5 wtf is up with Shauna ? I love adult Shauna but in her teens why tf she all of sudden has a thirst for blood when there wasn’t any signs she had “darkness” within her. I mean sleeping with your best friends boyfriend then getting knocked up by him is hard but not darkness like Tai & Lottie
@@Cuttatv Shauna was shown to be quite aggressive and odd before the crash; she tried to fight Tai, she had a chip on her shoulder when it came to Jackie, she forced Jeff to say he loves her, etc. I'd call her a sociopath but then again she did show empathy towards Tai when she confided in her about sleep walking, but that could've just been a necessary step for her to gain an ally/confidant while out there, because after she catches lottie talking to her baby she gets mad at Tai saying she's supposed to be her friend and be on her side etc. Idk Shauna is a strange character, very hard to understand. One thing I do know is that she's smart asf and very aware, her and Tai seem to be the only ones not being totally brainwashed by that wilderness sacrificial crap, Tai is in it for van and Shauna just knows that she's outnumbered and if she doesn't play along she'll be an outcast like Jackie was which could be dire. why did it have to be javi ☹️☹️☹️
Becuz his character sucked. Although he has little meat to him so
Honestly, I didn't like it, but not because it "impressed" or "shocked" me.
Plus ages the fastest why pick someone so thin over the best pick we need fast to survive.

Misty told her if she helps him they will eat her
It was him or her. They weren’t going to let her live otherwise
Are you stupid?
Last few episodes completely screwed this series for me. Plot has more holes than Swiss cheese, and the writers just keep expecting you to swallow it.
Isn’t that the luxury the directors and writers have though ? This isn’t science, it’s entertainment, smoke screen and illusion.
