      Even within the astronaut corps, they were chosen because they are such great candidates. Koch has more logged time in space and spacewalking than most, and Wiseman had similar experience. Victor Glover was one of two astronauts to fly on Crew-demo 2 in 2020, and he was an Air Force test pilot before that. Jeremy Hansen has not been to space before, so this will be his first spaceflight. He had experience in the Canadian Air Force prior to entering the CSA as an astronaut.

    People who say there should be no travel to the Moon or anywhere else up there in space because of problems on Earth have a point and I respect that but these problems would still exist with or without a space programme. Humanity has always had problems ever since it came into being and always will. It would be better for the nay sayers to spaceflight to say they are against the very concept and idea of spaceflight, just like I am sure people were against the invention of the wheel.
    I am sorry but while I defend their right to express their belief, I do not have any respect for the Moon Conspiracy hoax theorists and believers who obviously have no idea of science at all and will, despite all the overwhelming evidence, persist in their belief and no amount of talking to them will dissuade them of that belief.
    I am in fact surprised America can still send astronauts into orbit, let alone the Moon, a country which has so many people believing that Americans and others never went into space at all.
    If spaceflight does continue, it will be dominated by the China, a country whose government will not allow any space naysayers to express their opinions on this and other things at all. And certainly it will not not allow any Moon hoax theorists to voice their belief in any way at all.
    It looks as if the US will get weaker and weaker, get ever more divided and a country whose problems will get worse and worse.
    China will simply get stronger and stronger and I would not be surprised if the next crew on the Moon is Chinese and not American.
    Especially as the American human landing system, the Starship, has not even flown into orbit yet, let alone the Moon, and will require a lot of test flights to prove it is safe to carry people.
    Therefore any US landing on the Moon will not take place in 2025, I am almost certain of that. It would more likely take place in the 2030s when the Chinese may already have landed there. It may never happen at all, given the deteriorating economic, political and social situation in the States, where there are huge problems like rampant gun violence in which mass shootings (where 2 or more people are killed and more wounded) seem to be taking place, not just monthly, not Judy weekly, but daily.

    • @masseffect8294
      @masseffect8294 Рік тому

      I couldn't agree with u more the average American only spends 6 cence a year of their taxes on the space programme, but they act like they are spending hundreds of dollars from their taxes, the amount NASA is able to achieve with its comparatively small budget is incredible but needs to be increased for both Artemis and Mars to be achieved. My mum is a moon landing denier and it honestly just showcases the ignorance and lack of knowledge the majority of these people have about the moon landing, she didn't even know there were any missions beyond 11😮‍💨. Even if the space program was cancelled that extra 20 billion won't do much it will more than likely just go to funding more war machines in the military, I work in the defence sector, but even I can admit it is severely overfunded. The F16 program alone constitutes about 80% of NASA annual budget. How about we go after the corrupt politicians and greedy business practices instead of our presence in space which has brought countless great benefits to the world.

      @boardcertifiable Рік тому +2

      Without the space program, we wouldn't have things like accurate weather satellites, advancements in medicine, scratch resistant lenses, and better materials for building safe roads. In my opinion, it is worth my tax money.

    • @stellangios
      @stellangios Рік тому

      " a country which has so many people believing that Americans and others never went into space at all." Citation needed. "So many"? A few fringe nuts that get extra attention for acting like fools isn't a statistically significant number.
      And the problems we have on Earth very much CAN be made worse with space travel. Where do these things launch from? Unpopulated areas, protected natural areas or areas that SHOULD be protected from the damage of rocket launches. What are they fueled with? Is that renewable and infinite? I think not. Super rich space tourists will happily burn the planet down so long as they can go off somewhere else or afford to survive. These kinds of missions, at least, matter but I don't think we can just defend space travel anymore without specifying what kind and for what.
      You seem really pessimistic, btw. Not sure what your point is.

    Are they really lucky to be flying to the moon in the NASA's Artemis II ? Wait until they get back home safely first.

    What are the chances that the crew of Artemis II get re-called to now walk on the Moon? OR will the Moon be that Forbidden Fruit that... you could Watch all you can, but you cannot Touch?
    With many Artemis Moon missions planned for the future, me thinks They've got a good chance!!!

      @@ComsiCaterpillare haven’t done it in about 50 years, we need to take precautions, hence why Artemis II will just be an orbit.
      The other option is an increased chance of crashing and immediate budget decimation.

      They’re going physically farther from the earth than ever before, and they are *STAYING* on the moon. Don’t know if you listened with your ears, but we are going back there to stay, not tiny day-long surface missions as we’ve done before in the 70’s.

    Wonderful interview, I think Americans have always known deep down that Canadians are their buddies. They live in the house next door. Now to go to the moon with your buddy, that's a cool thing.
