The white side was more racist saying the n word, talking about the stereotypical black dad and the stereotypical black guy but the black side was mentioning things like how cops kill black guys and he talked about the use of the n word. Never once did the black guy mention a white stereotype. Funny thing about the video is that the black guy wasn’t racist at all, be spoke about stereotypes while the white guy spoke about the flaws in the African American community. I understand what the video is about and no I didn’t completely misunderstand the message of the song, it’s just the way I see it.

Hence the white guy talking about drugs in the black community and the black guy defending himself and defending the community, talking about poverty. About the fried chicken thing, that’s not racist he was basically saying that white people hate on black people but tend to be obsessed with taking black culture yet they know nothing about it. Those were just examples of things that black people could say were theres.

Fried chicken was invented in Europe but the point I’m trying to make is in AMERICA, fried chicken is still considered black culture, it’s included as a soul food which is black culture. Scottish may have invented it in Europe or not but it was brought to America by African Americans AND popularized AND spiced. In America, fried chicken is black culture because African Americans are who brought it here.

I'm white, 37 and live in Canada. My family lives in a town where the underground railroad brought slaves to be free here in Canada. It's now a historical site and museum. I loved this song. We are all humans. I don't care what colour your skin is. I just care about your character and whether or not your helping others, even if it's only a little bit. There's too much misinformation out there. Science even says humanity migrated from Africa. We are all brothers and sisters. I wish there was more music like this. I've watched this about 6 times now. I love it. Please think before you act and act how you would want others to act towards you. Borders are just lines in the sand that we as humans draw. I watched at least 20 reactions on this. Mostly black people because I truly want to see the other side. None of the white people I watched ever cheered the white dude on. The ones I subscribed to was the reactions from the black UA-camrs who admit some flaws from people in their race and start a discussion of why they disagree on some of the other points. The reaction itself was kinda racist. The song is saying that there are two sides to every story and all you did was disagree with everything the white guy said and then get all hyped about just the black guy's verse. The song isn't saying that whatever the white guy says is wrong and the black guy is correcting it, it's saying that both have opinions and reasons and some are valid and some aren't based on anything and that they need to communicate to make things better.

I Love how blue hoodie and grey hoodie were really getting into the "White side" of the argument because they were aware that there were some truths and some exaggerations in the bars, and were the same with the "black side" as well. They are the prime example of POC that are conscious of the generalized statements of both races and showed acceptance that some of them are true whether they be positive or negative. Both races are right, and wrong; no one is superior or inferior to the others.

i'm latino too, and I 100% agree. I think it's because it's easier to look at a situation from the outside and make up you mind on where you stand than to be a part of the situation and having your mind changed/up to looking at it from another perspective

It highkey irritates me when black people miss the point of the video. Of course we can relate to the black struggles and that side of the argument more because, you guessed it, we’re black. But that doesn’t mean it’s right. Both sides are opposite ends of extremes; they’re both stereotyping and if you agree with either you’re in the wrong. They’re not issuing straight fact, they’re giving their very biased opinions on the issue! At the end they both had gained empathy from hearing eachothers story and that’s how they came to an ‘understanding’. now, of course racism is an issue concerning black people’s lives and white people aren’t the ones who face racism on a day to day basis, so (in my hopefully unbiased opinion) the black side voiced some more legitimate struggles but that STILL doesn’t mean either is right. The white guy said things that had truth to them too and a lot of people are either too afraid to agree or unable to accept that. The delivery wasn’t pleasant so likely your first reaction is to flinch at his excessive use of the n word and want to establish how you could not agree less, but that’s why you need to approach this with a clear mind and see the true message of the video. I’m not gonna lie, at first I found myself agreeing with the black side a bit too much and I had to remind myself that’s the point of the video, to realise I shouldn’t be. Joyner knew what he was doing when he made this and he did it well.
Also, I know it doesn’t matter but I’m 12 so I’m *very* aware I don’t know everything, and I may have completely missed some points myself. Feel free to educate me :)

it’s just bias. As a white male, 15 years old, I agreed more with the white side at first cause I’m white. Of course you’ll be with the side that represents you cause that’s how we are as humans. Like voting, if you agreed with Donald Trump, you’d vote for him, if you agreed with Hillary, you’d vote for her. And that’s one thing people don’t understand. People think all Trump supporters are racist cause they think Trump’s racist, but in reality, (even if it was close) the majority went for Trump because he promised to do more to benefit them than any other candidate did.
And that’s the problem. We can’t come together unless we understand each others points of view and our needs. We’ll stay separated until we no longer see race but that we all can look at a race other than ours, and say, “thats one of my brothers/sisters”

I'm scared to even talk about things like this being a white person, feel like black people hate me just for being white and it sucks. I've never hurt a fly, just do me and live my life the best I can. I've got friends of all ethnicities but still they think if you say that you're a closet racist.

Here's something, I'm white and live in Scotland. I've never spent time with a black person.
Not through me excluding them, just never been in a situation where I'm with black people.
I'd love to sit down with a few of my friends and a few black people and talk about our culture's. We're both humans, but we operate in 2 completely different ways.
I'm definitely not racist, I've never had a bad word to say about any race. I was brought up poor as well.
