Anime - Whispering Of Hearts Hi all! This is my first video, I know it is not a good job but please comment on what I need to improve! If can be my friends on Facebook :) yuduki.utau@hotmail.com
Probably the most underrated Ghibli movie ever..Also the fact that it was made by a soon-to-be director that passed away feels sad and landmarking. I fell in love with the song and the film.
Yeah ghibli movies are the best thank you the director who passed away we will never forget about you who make whisper of heart we love you of all our hearts ♥️ ♥️❤️🇯🇵
It's my favorite Ghibli movie. Guess who's an insecure writer? I'm just disappointed that, in the dubbed version, they killed the recorder and crumhorn playing. My husband and I are early music geeks, and were absolutely delighted to find that some Japanese apparently enjoy Renaissance and Baroque music. Heck, look at the grandfather -- he's bowing his viol de gamba underhand, which is very authentic. Things like that are among the reasons I prefer watching the movies subtitled.
Of all the Ghibli movies I've seen, Whisper of the Heart is the one closest to my heart. It tackles friendship, young love, and dreams. Like Shizuko, I am also a writer who constantly thinks that my works aren't good enough to be read. That regardless of the number of positive feedback I received, there's still a part of me telling that those people complimented me not because my works are good, but because they are being polite.
Just saw it in theaters today as a tribute to Takahata. Never seen it before. Going to memorize this forever. Not to mention my summer camp uses country roads as a meme, but now I've got a reason to like it.
I actually cried the first time I watched this scene. When all the old men come out and Shizuku almost stops singing but they're all playing along with her and Seiji is right there with her and everyone supports and loves her and OH GOD I"M LOSING IT AGAIN DON"T LOOK AT ME! TT0TT
I didn’t realize that they were singing different lyrics until I saw this video 😮 I love this version so much better!!! When I saw this movie (it was subbed and I I wasn’t fast enough to read) I thought that it was weird that they had an American song in a Japanese movie So same tune, different lyrics??
People are here saying that this movie is underrated, but hell id go far is to say this is their best film. TLDR: this is the best studio ghibli movie because of its relatable characters going through real life problems that the audience can identify with
This movie is the greatest.. It teaches us how can we appreciate every little moment of our life and still achieve all of our dreams... I hope in the upcoming years when I see this comment again I will be doing what I love and I'll be living my dream. I hope I passed my high school with great marks and be proud of it and I want say something to my future self "wherever u are I'm proud of u and love u just keep with it don't give up and don't worry I am always here"
For some reason I always start to tear up when she sings the line "You're a good friend I'll never know." I cannot explain why that lyric brings so much emotion out of me. This entire scene is just perfection!
This scene is specifically why Ghibli movies are magical. The movie stops to have this amazing moment. Disney and Pixar have never had such a simple yet sincere moment like this. Their songs are great but they're big and bombastic musical numbers, nothing like this.
The only scene in pixar that comes to this level is when Gaston has a flashback to his childhood while eating Remi's dish, and maybe even the scene from Soul where protagonist is told "this? This isn't the ocean, this is water"
This movie reminds me on how to dream and stop when things not so good but never give up. You just have to take another try. There's always something good about every Ghibli Movies.
this scene makes me cry every time... so adorable. her crush playing the song she wrote on violin as she sings... and then everyone joining in. ugh so wonderful!!! :')
It has been at least five years since I've watched this movie and it is actually making me cry just by hearing this. This is honestly amazing and I love that you chose to sing something so bittersweet.
Its been y years since i last watched this and heard this song and this honestly made me cry its nostalgic since this was my first anime movie i watched and fell in love with
Same! this is definitely the best scene of this movie, and this is actually my favorite Ghibli movie of them all, i have never seen this English version though.
ArtymusPrime I'm sure it is well done just like most of the Ghibli dubs :), i might check it out one day but i don't think i will ever like it more then the original version.
Sarah Thomson Why how is it said?, i already find the ending to be kind of odd on the Japanese version because he brings up marriage out of nowhere to a girl he hardly knows haha.
I was terrified at the idea of Brittany Snow doing this - I thought she'd go full-on Pop star level and belt it out Disney-Diva style, which is not what this moment is supposed to be. But I was pleasantly surprised - she sounds nervous, halting, and even acts like she's singing these lyrics for the first time and slowly gaining confidence - totally natural. Turns out Disney can tell their stars to be subtle when they should be.
KnighSteaks disney had a pretty good track record with their english dub casts. I agree with op. Shes not who i wouldve wanted at first but i love her performance

It's so strange how different this version (in English and Japanese) comes across from the original. Both are about missing one's hometown, a place that is emblematic of a nostalgic past. John Denver's is about savoring the memory of West Virginia and the beauty of the landscape. The memories mean a lot to him, they are "almost heaven" and it makes him sad to remember, but he yearns for the feeling and wishes to go back. In this version, the love and nostalgia is heavily implied, but it's focused on the separation of the singer from this hometown. The road is *right there*, in front of them. The pain of the memories is something to be locked away and moved past, because the place is less than literal. There is a hometown, a place where the singer grew up and has many cherished memories of. But the place they want to return to is more than the literal town. The choice to move on is an active one they have to do, despite the pain and sorrow that causes. They know that the place they want to go to isn't possible to reach anymore, it only exists in their memory. The singer scolds the version of themselves that wants to stay, who wants to return to the past. John Denver's version ends with the call to be taken home by the roads. In this, even if the singer returns the next day they are still definitely saying goodbye to this path that they are promising not to take.
I gotta say, I didn't think hearing Country Roads of all things would ever make me tear up, and yet it happened on my very first viewing of this film. What a masterpiece.
The scene of Seiji and Chizuku on the school rooftop has to be my favorite scene in all of film. Everything about it feels so right and perfect. This is hands down my favorite ghibli movie.

I loved this film when I watched it, I was actually on a road trip to a special place with mountains and rivers and not feeling really good because of my depression, so I just started watching this movie and I remember looking out of the window when this song was playing and it really felt peaceful. At that moment life was beautiful. Whenever, i listen to this song I get reminded of that moment when I was so full of life. It helps me relax and offers me a few moments of joy which I really need because I have severe anxiety and depression. I'm grateful for the song writer who wrote this song and shared it with the world. Thank you ❤️
This is probably one if the best films I've seen. I'll definitely be showing my kids when I grow up. I remember when i wrote my own version of country roads about my hometown after i watched this film 😳😂

If you liked this movie please watch Howl's Moving Castle if you haven't already ! Edit: 2 years later and just rewatched both movies this past weekend ! Lol thank you for the likes everybody
Read the book! The Witch of the Waste didn't curse Sophie out of a fit of temper. She had a reason to be in the hat shop and to put a curse on the heroine. It's even better than the movie.
Came right here , right after I finish watching whisper of the heart , 💖, I'm so flutter right now. I really love the story of whisper of the heart , . I think I'm online with every studio Ghibli movies ., Thank you for this💖 I love listening to this every single day to reminisce the story of seiji amasawa and shizuku tzukishima. I love you guys . I will come right here if I feel of missing you guys. ❣️💖, I will never forget this masterpiece together with other Ghibli studio present anime's.💖
They did such a perfect job of making it sound beautiful yet slightly disorganized, really sold the feeling that this was just wonderful musicians suddenly playing together
That's what I love abought ghibli studios story , it not a typical love story but it shows how two people push each other and bring the best out of eachother ,and they show even the process where one person inspires the other person can be romantic.
This woke up the 12 year old kid in me, the kid with dreams. I wanted to write so much, but I never felt that it was good enough. People really loved it, but I didn't. As a 12 year old, I fell in love for the first time, the purest love I've ever experienced. When I saw this movie, all the old feelings exploded in a good way. Now I'm writing a book and meanwhile preparing for university. And I know that writing the book is the first step. After writing it, I will shape it and turn it into something beautiful. Just like this incredible story taught me.
This was the first (and only) time I’ve seen a movie alone in theater, and I don’t regret it at all. I live this movie; it’s sweet and good, and it makes me happy and hopeful!
I do and I watched it with my wife. It was the first time we watched this movie and we ended up crying after. This song I couldn't stop humming it around the house.
I watched The Cat Returns way before I watched Whisper of the Heart. It was almost better and made me really appreciate The Cat Returns even more. Seeing Whisper of the Heart and knowing that she is a writer who writes about the Baron......it made me think... SHE WROTE THE CAT RETURNS!!!!!!!!!!! ^_^ ^_^ WOW! It made everything come together and make that much more sense as I feel more connected to the characters. I LOVE IT!!!!!!
ahh how i miss the times i watched ghibli movies in one week ... my most favs are howls moving castle, spirited away, princess mononoke and this one whispers of the heart 🥰😍🥰
What I find most beautiful is how flawlessly the 3 men (I forgot their names its been a while since I watched this) managed to integrate themselves. Truly shows how there aren't any set rules for music, its just you and the fellas vibing.
Of all the ghibli movies ghibli is the one closest to my heart. I started playing violin and I was amazed by seiji. It's so nostalgic and an amazing movie

It amazes me you can't find the actual video of this scene. I used to own this movie but gave it to my cousin which happens to be on the spectrum. Sadly the movie was lost to a house fire a few years ago. I was told she absolutely loved this movie and drew tons of art.
"I'm not really all that good."

@@thomascollins5622 yeah Pom Poko is kinda weak and Earwig is straight up awful
@@gcnelite5983 They need to never touch pure CGI again. Earwig made my eyes bleed from how ugly it was, and the writing was kind of soulless
I am crying.
Thank you the person who made this movie.
Yoshifumikando
Whisper of the Heart/Mimi wo Sumaseba will always have a special place in my heart! I loved the English dub as well! I remember the lyrics too hehe
I love that movie!
If you liked this movie please watch Howl's Moving Castle if you haven't already !
Edit: 2 years later and just rewatched both movies this past weekend ! Lol thank you for the likes everybody
Howl's Moving Castle is soo good!
I've seen pretty much all the anime movies
Blake Browne welp as a hardcore fan of studio ghibli i have seen ALL THE FUCKING MOVIES 5 TIMES by now i think
Blake Browne I've watched it its amazing!!
I think I'm online with every studio Ghibli movies .,
Thank you for this💖
I love listening to this every single day to reminisce the story of seiji amasawa and shizuku tzukishima. I love you guys .
I will come right here if I feel of missing you guys. ❣️💖, I will never forget this masterpiece together with other Ghibli studio present anime's.💖
I just watched this one and now this is one of my new favorite versions of Country Roads
Masterpiece of a movie. One of my favorites.
This is my favorite scene in this movie, and this is the only video with this recording...THANK YOU
Very song
This movie will forever have a separate place in my heart. ❤
Just saw this movie today, it’s very touching and the characters, lives and fears are so relatable.
They did such a perfect job of making it sound beautiful yet slightly disorganized, really sold the feeling that this was just wonderful musicians suddenly playing together
"you'll cry at their version of this song"
"PFFF cry at Country roads?! HAH!"
took only 55 minutes to eat my words...
i teared up pretty hardcore when i watched this for the first time and the old man band joined in
That's what I love abought ghibli studios story , it not a typical love story but it shows how two people push each other and bring the best out of eachother ,and they show even the process where one person inspires the other person can be romantic.
Fun fact: this is Naminé’s original English voice, Brittany Snow, singing. And Seiji is played by Riku’s English voice actor, David Gallagher.
thanks for the fact!
Brittany Snow, not Britney Snow.
This version of the song is a banger! When gramps and the boys join in.... I could use about a 10 minute version of that
This woke up the 12 year old kid in me, the kid with dreams.
How is it going?
This movie is truly one of the best of Studio Ghibli💖 will never forget this in my mind and deep in my heart! Concrete road! 🤣
i come back to this rendition so much because it reminds me of my childhood. I was raised on Ghibli films and they hold a large portion of my heart
This was the first (and only) time I’ve seen a movie alone in theater, and I don’t regret it at all. I live this movie; it’s sweet and good, and it makes me happy and hopeful!
This love story is way better than anything you'd get from Disney!
This movie is better than anything that Disney or Pixar has made recently imo.
Ironically, this dubbed version was made by Disney.
Who's here after watching it. Because of the Quarantine??🤚🤚
Me! Also.... Borahae Army💜💜💜
I do and I watched it with my wife. It was the first time we watched this movie and we ended up crying after. This song I couldn't stop humming it around the house.
@@BerserkerRider94 same as me
I’m here right after watching this scene. It was an amazing scene
Meee
One of my favourite movies
THE BEST COMING OF AGE MOVIE I EVER HAVE WATCHED
every kid should watch this along with _spirited away_ and _princess mononoke_
I watched this film so I can watch the cat returns but now I can't stop watching it
You don’t need to watch Whisper to watch Returns.
^_^ ^_^
WOW!
It made everything come together and make that much more sense as I feel more connected to the characters.
I LOVE IT!!!!!!
I SEEN the cat returns before thus
@@sebbie0112 that's exactly my theory: Cat Returns isn't a sequel to Whisper of the Heart, it's Tukishima's story.
seji: Shizuku,, I love you!!!
Me: OMGGGASHHH (crys joy)
* makes every person in the family watch it twice*
ahh how i miss the times i watched ghibli movies in one week ... my most favs are howls moving castle, spirited away, princess mononoke and this one whispers of the heart 🥰😍🥰
We are not worthy of this movie's brilliance!
Whisper of the Hearts is my favorite Studio Ghibli film! ♡♡
This’s my all time favorite produced from Studio Ghibli…❤❤❤❤
it’s never underrated
Whish I never watched this because now there's a hole in my heart
The nostalgia is making me cry and yearn for the past when things were better.
This has to be may favorite anime movie ever, it has such an amazing story and exceptional music choice, yet again studio Ghibli is by far the best
I absolutely love this scene, I have to replay this scene at least twice anytime I watch this movie
What I find most beautiful is how flawlessly the 3 men (I forgot their names its been a while since I watched this) managed to integrate themselves. Truly shows how there aren't any set rules for music, its just you and the fellas vibing.
Literally the greatest scene I saw in the movie.
耳すば、カントリーロード、英語verも最高😭😭😭
Movies like this makes life bearable... Reality is too harsh sadly 😢
I love this version of country Roads very much👍🏻❤️
Of all the ghibli movies ghibli is the one closest to my heart. I started playing violin and I was amazed by seiji. It's so nostalgic and an amazing movie
this song literally describes how i feel all the time. thank you so much for posting it ^^
RainiChan same for me too
RIP John Denver (1943-1997). Thanks for this beautiful song. ❤️❤️❤️
This is when I knew this was my favorite movie of all time
I can't stop myself listening that masterpiece on 🔁 😍
Who’s here from Schafrillas Productions?
This needs to be more seen. This is absolutely amazing.
wow..i kinda like her lyrics better...
me too
try in sub its better too
Yup. They're better than the original.
The adaptation made from Take Home, Country roads of John Denver so that it matched the plot of the main character is absolutely amazing!
My favorite anime movie, characters, song 🎵
Lyrics:
I dreamed of living
Alone but fearless
Secret longing
To be courageous
Loneliness kept bottled up inside
Just reveal your brave face
They'll never know you lied
Country Road
May lead me home
Know I belong there
All on my own
Destiny calls
Motionless, I stall
Know I can't go
Country road
No matter how dark the world's inside me
I'll never stop to show a tear that I've shed
But now I have to walk so fast
Running, sprinting to forget
What is lodged in my head?
Country Road
May lead me home
Know I belong there
All on my own
Destiny calls
Motionless, I stall
Know I can't go
Country road
Country Road
La, La, La, La
You're a good friend
I'll never know
Same tomorrow
Regret and sorrow
Can't take you home...
Country road
It amazes me you can't find the actual video of this scene. I used to own this movie but gave it to my cousin which happens to be on the spectrum. Sadly the movie was lost to a house fire a few years ago. I was told she absolutely loved this movie and drew tons of art.
My favorite animation😍😍😍
My childhood movie 😁 ohh i almost cry 🥺
i grew up whatching Ponyo, so Studio Ghibli will always lay close to my heart :)
Ghibli’s movies always fill me with a warm, light and bittersweet feeling
I absolutely loved the movie 😭😊❤️
Please never delete this
I need it.
