    Most septic professionals recommend avoiding any septic system additives. The emulsification of fats and oils allows them to discharge to the disposal field and clog tighter soils.

    North Central Florida, sandy soil, in the country:
    TRUE STORY:
    I installed 4 standard sections in 2003 for our
    washing machine to keep bleach out of the septic tank.
    Worked GREAT for 17 years, and then it didn't.
    Now, I'm digging it up to clean in out.
    MOMENT OF TRUTH:
    I also ran a downspout from the house into it.
    THEN planted pine trees.
    The silly things we do when we're young...
    Best to all.
    Mr. Brown

    we need these at are house, But I cannot figure out why they are so expensive. how do you justify the cost when you use recycled plastic to make them?

    Buy a 24in plastic culvert; cut in half lengthwise; strap perf pipe to inside; lay atop gravel base; save big bucks!

      Not exactly the same idea. U don't get the air flow or the ability for additional water to sweat out of the sides.

      @@bustertn2014 drill holes and put some garden fabric over it. on second thought, don't drill holes, take a very hot piece of rebar or tire iron and keep burning holes in it, faster than drilling

    Do you need to put sand or special soil down before placing chambers in trench?

    Are these units less prone to failure than the standard high capacity (6 foot) units?

    Is it better to backfill the chambers with 3/4" aggregate?

    • @InfiltratorWaterTechnologies
      @InfiltratorWaterTechnologies  7 років тому

      Thank you for contacting Infiltrator. It is not necessary nor required to backfill the chambers with gravel per our product approvals. Infiltrator chambers have been installed for over 30 years without the use of gravel. While placing gravel along the sides of the chambers is above and beyond our standard installation instructions it will not adversely affect system performance. If you have any additional questions please feel free to contact our Technical Department directly at info@infiltratorwater.com.

    Would these ever be put close to a house and a deck built over them??

      Don't ever do that. I know a person that put their swimming pool over their sepic tank and had a real problem Do leave a way to get to the entire system.

    Do you recommend putting any fabric under the unit to keep roots out? or will that hinder the leaching process?

    • @InfiltratorWaterTechnologies
      @InfiltratorWaterTechnologies  8 років тому

    Um, dude, you forgot to put gravel under your infiltrators. Not good!

      I was told by my inspector that gravel was not needed when using infiltrators. The manufacturers also state that gravel is not needed. If you were laying pipe gravel would be needed but not with infiltrators.
