Typically, AN fittings are 37 degrees and you shouldn't be adding Teflon tape to threads of the fittings. The seal is made on the chamfered (angled) faces of the fitting. I recommend removing the oil line all together and pressure testing it. I bet you that hose shop could assist you in pressure testing that hose. Also inspect the surfaces of the angled inside parts of the fittings to make sure there are no obvious scratches and gouges. Any deep scratches or imperfections will cause it to not seal properly. Hope this helps 💪
If you are sure it is leaking from the AN fittings and not the bolts holding the flange to the pan. My suggestion would be to remove the flange (Steel from the look of it) and have the AN cut off of it and drill and tap it (NPT) to take a matching Aluminum AN to NPT fitting. I have had trouble with mixing steel and aluminum AN fittings. I always try to keep the same brand fitting as well. I have had leaks from mixing brands of AN fittings in the past.
I deal alot with compression fittings in my job; granted they aren't technically AN fittings but they operate on the same concept. I would check the mating faces to make sure theres not a gouge or some shit on there that is not letting it seat and seal properly. In the past I've gotten by by getting a small piece of Gore tex gasket or even teflon tape and applying it on the mating face surfaces. Putting teflon tape on the threads technically won't fix anything since it's the two faces that make the seal. Hopefully that helps and makes sense. Car looks amazing! Cant wait to see it turned up!!
A lot of the time on 4G63s, it's the actual place where the return fitting bolts to the pan. Sometimes that fitting just doesn't make a good seal. We always removed it, filled the bolt holes and just welded an AN fitting right to the pan, that solved all of our issues. Maybe it's the actual AN fitting, but I dunno, this is just a common leak on all DSMs from what I found. Maybe it's leaking on the top of the fitting and going down and on to the AN fitting.
Been following since the beginning man and you’re really outdoing yourself on this build. You’ve really taken it up a notch on the detail level and show quality of the build. I have three evos and I know you sell your cars a lot and about half way through watching you building this one I was starting to check my bank account In case you decide to sell it lol. Bc to emac tbjd car is special compared to the other builds. (Which are also awesome though).
I had issues with my AN fitting so I just ended up running a rubber hose barb fitting. I just replace the hose every couple years. Keep it protected from exhaust. Doesn't leak at all even without any clamps DSM
The leak could be your hose, not the fitting itself. Either it’s not cut straight/seated flush to the fitting. Or it’s a cheap hose that’s too large of inner diameter for the fitting to push on and expand/seal the hose tight to the fitting.
Wouldn’t it be better to leave the fan blowing away heat away from the turbo. Help move air up and out the hood. Not the most efficient but there is no such thing as too much cooling on a turbo car.
get a fitting welded to the oil pan instead and save yourself the stress I had the same leak and decided to drop the pan and get a fitting welded instead
My gosh I love that blue8, so fucking dope. It looks awesome and sounds nastyyy🤘🏻🤘🏻 ( is grab a pair of those little gas struts , so when you open the hood it’ pulls itself up n stay in place.... Ditch the hood prop ) 🤘🏻🤘🏻
U have spent so much on titanium hardware but why not replace those ugly looking intercooler hoses? I know u won't be able to see them but still the way this build is going u should just replace them for proper silicone joiners for the peace of mind.
Are they the cheap non branded an fitting ,if so they're terrible we had several that leaked most likely bulk bought from China for cheap poor quality control on thread pitch.

Devin goes to mexico and now we have new hispanic music for the background. gotta love it
I just lost it when you grabbed that rad hose out of the parts car. “Goin to the auto store” lol
Bro, the way you are able to make every video entertaining is a super power no joke. Keep it up man🙌

You made wrapping the small section on the fender look so easy, car is coming out 🔥🔥🔥

DSM
You should wrap/paint the red fusible link cover. It kinda stands out. Would look much better black/blue/yellow.👍
Is the balance shaft inspection hole leaking? There should be a 6mm bolt there
Lube the aluminium AN fittings to avoid damaging them when tightening (dish soap etc). Probably already know that but 🤷♂️
For the turbo drain i had a similar issue, you need the specific oem bolts that have the rubber washer part on it. and an oem gasket
Oh it makes all the right noises! After break in can’t wait to see a full beans run for the boys!
Is the oil running down the hose? I see you focusing on the oil pan end but not the turbo side. Just a thought.
stm also makes a slim rad full size if you run into cooling issues from the half rad. Doubt it but always an alternative.
That AN fittings, try using one brand for the flange and the straight, ive been in this situation before, changing to same brand solved the problem
When u use half radiator do your engine overheat? I’m planning to use it on my Evo
Keep up the great work! I'm a local viewer and I see your driving often. Cant wait to see this evo on the road!!!!
Hey man, really nice EGR setup u got there. Can u tell me what is the purpose of that EGR valve?
That engine bay is looking clean one of the best I've ever seen on the evo. Good work bro....
Use a coupler for the radiator hose ?
I am fighting the same issue with the an fitting. Hope you figure it out so I can just copy
Great video devin...use the vibrant brand for the return oil line they work great!!!
Does this smaller radiator affect the car cooling?
Just begging for a forward facing setup! Ace work as always man!
Devin, Try some Permatex ultra black or Grey on the AN fitting Threads. The teflon tape probably just melted off already.
When Devin goes too register a new car I bet they be like let me guess it’s another evo 😂😂😂
What fans are u using on the blue evo.??
Ahh man. That is a pain in the.....
Hope someone can shed some light on this problem for you.

didn't try using thread sealant from a tube on the fitting?
Love the work u put into your videos. How are you mounting ur fans to ur rad? My mishimoto fan came with an aluminum shroud. Evo 9
No hate, just a question, why would you want to replace a big radiator with a smaller one?
Thinking the fitting on the pan is bad. Need new fitting on pan and hose
Keep up the good work! Anyway, I want to sell my 2011 Wicked White Evo X GSR with 1200 original miles, garage kept and never been on the rain.
What would be sick, go black and white half Camo like you did on the X, on the hyper blue 8
Do you add water wetter so it doesn’t rust?
Is your AN line suppose to have a restrictor?
Where at in WA do you stay brotha?? I got an X and live in WA too!
I don't get the point of the half rad? Won't it reduce your cooling like by too much??
oem oil return bolts has special gaskets for them (MR497720). maybe your problem?
and the oem gasket for the pan side is the thin metal one. the paper one is for the turbo side.
you should use some glacier black on the exhaust manifold
Bro please run the a pillar gauges I loved that on the black 8 totally your call but man it looked so clean
0:15
You just know from the energy that Dev is gonna kick some ASS today .
Wake up like this everyday guys !!!
Letssss goooooo
The yellow with blue looks sick bro🔥🤙
Wouldn’t it be better to leave the fan blowing away heat away from the turbo. Help move air up and out the hood. Not the most efficient but there is no such thing as too much cooling on a turbo car.
PERFECT CAR- PERFECT COLOR. CONGRATS
Your titles get me every time bruh!
You should try changing the line to the turbo
I want to see some custom AN radiator hoses and some custom intercooler pipes with some alpha locks!
Put some carbon fiber front fenders on this bro
It is the fitting on the oil pan, should be wielded.
If you are sure it’s the fitting itself try loctite 577 or similar
Wide body evo
get a fitting welded to the oil pan instead and save yourself the stress
I had the same leak and decided to drop the pan and get a fitting welded instead
R u sure the radiator clears everything? 7:18 on the video looks like the turbo compressor is hitting the radiator.
Devin at 15:15 - "Look who I found. "
My gosh I love that blue8, so fucking dope. It looks awesome and sounds nastyyy🤘🏻🤘🏻 ( is grab a pair of those little gas struts , so when you open the hood it’ pulls itself up n stay in place.... Ditch the hood prop ) 🤘🏻🤘🏻
bro, you deserve a million subscribers!!!!
Always here 👌 notification or not searching for new video 😂
I order a jet tag and a shirt but only got the shirt in the package what do i do?
Hi Devin, try make a turbo return line with a ptfe core instead of rubber core :)
Don't you lose a lot of cooling potential with a half rad? It didn't look much if at all thicker than the one that was on there.
dude i have no idea on how to fix it but welding it or using some jb weld might work gret lol
that turbo whistle is beautiful
3:41 - I am soaked with coolant right now! haha
You should vinyl the inside of the doors
I think it’s time for some new headlights for the 8.
you should do a reaction video of people's looks with some go pro footages.. when driving around town hood less
Maybe you should use teflon tape for the thread
Ojalá pudiera ser como este man ,
Now you have half rad. Time to get a Forward facing turbo manifold. 👀
Yaaaaaas!!! Evo vidiyooooo!!!
Wrap the outside of the an fitting with silicone tape
It’s that adapter piece that you have on the pan take the pan off weld the an fitting style onto the pan Problem solved
If you wrap the fitting with electric tape it won’t scratch 🚀
Good progress 🔥🔥
Not illegal in AZ to drive without a hood (or doors and bumpers 😅) as long as you got working lights
I swear everyday you make me want to buy an evo trying to even find a broken one for a good price
Its not the fitting its the flange had same issue i put rtv in it problem fixed
How many likes for you to do a full Voltex kit?
Now change in front face turbo setup!!!!
Dude you have to fix that man 🔥💯
no worries that the half rad is to small for a motor that caliber??
Not taking much to wear out that blue coating on that fitting.
Dev you need to torque the A/n a little more for to tight.
The new Precision waste gate looks way better
Maybe it's leaking down the tube from the other end.
Someone send this man a new intercooler coupler for the left side of his intercooler lol
Fix the fuse box and the bumper and the headlight fitment we need to see it mint
Loving the content man
i always put a like at each videos, you have talent man! i have a lancer, not an evo , but, one day i will have one!!!
You should run a hood exit exhaust on this car
U have spent so much on titanium hardware but why not replace those ugly looking intercooler hoses? I know u won't be able to see them but still the way this build is going u should just replace them for proper silicone joiners for the peace of mind.
Facts.
Don’t think he spent that much money on all the hardware especially when it seems like they sponser him. When you get a fair hook up it’s like why not
Buy vibrant an lines, and fittings , those ones are cheapy
You know what a half rad means?
Forward Facing mani!
Are they the cheap non branded an fitting ,if so they're terrible we had several that leaked most likely bulk bought from China for cheap poor quality control on thread pitch.
i hope you didn'T forget to add more oil after all that leakage! ahaha
