- 44871 + 45407 + 2 + 45690 Leander returned from KWVR to Carnforth today after appearing at the KWVR Steam Gala, all the locos are running tender first and are seen climbing Giggleswick Bank in strong winds and between heavy showers, thanks for watching.
Cracking sequence Nige in very difficult conditions, great to see. A fine sound from 44871 and some interesting rhythm from the wheel arrangements and spacing as they rattle over the fish plates.
Thanks David, that was the lull in weather as ten minutes before it was lashing it down, lost quite a lot of the sound with the wind being so strong as you could hardly hear the whistle for the crossing and yes some lovely rattling over the fishplates which is a bonus at that location, cheers nige👍
The skill and coordination of the drivers and stokers has too be admired
Thanks for watching Phil, they were certainly working in harmony with each other, cheers 👍
Don't have stoker's, we have Fireman!
@@loco42041 ah , that's what Merchant Navy does too you. Old on, there is a Merchant Navy class of loco...so whate are they called stocker-men! Lol
Exceptional sight 👍
Thanks for watching Brian, yes it certainly was, cheers 👍
What a great sight to see and video cheers Richard
Thanks Richard, it wasn’t the best conditions but was worth going out it for the rarity of the move, cheers nige👍
Superb Nige , less than ideal conditions but you caught the rare moment well 👍🎥
Thanks Steve, yes a rare move and worth going for, luckily there was a lull in the rain at the right time but everything got soaked, cheers 👍
Great video in difficult conditions. Nice seeing all three together.
Thanks Jed, the rain had let up by the time the locos came but it was definitely an unusual movement, cheers 👍
Great and unusual catch nige. Good job you were the right so of the wind, looked a bit blustery
Thanks Phil, a very rare movement with all three being tender first, wind was a problem but luckily the wind direction was from my right which kept the lenses clear of rain, cheers 👍
Nice video Nigel. Thanks for going out and braving the elements
Thanks Idris, luckily l got a break in the rain at the right time but still got soaked 😂 cheers 👍
Unusual shot Nige and well captured in rubbish weather, thanks for sharing Brian
Thanks Brian, I’ve caught tender first move’s before but never three together which is a rare one so had to go for this one rain or shine and luckily the rain let up at the right time, cheers nige👍
Very good Nige, great to see three locos even if tender 1st, lucky with the weather even though windy, it really came on shortly after .
Thanks Steve, definitely a rare movement with all three tender first, the rain was lashing down up until just before they came through so everything was soaked by then, cheers 👍
Wonderful video!!👍👍
Thanks for watching and for your lovely comment, cheers 👍
Wonderful video.
Thanks walkingtheboogie for your lovely comment, cheers 👍
Fine sight, pity they weren't facing the other way.👍
Thanks David, it was certainly different to get all three tender first so something of a rarity. cheers 👍
Hi nige very good camera work as usual cracking video well done great to see to black 5' a and 1 jubilee Philip
Thanks Michael, glad you enjoyed watching and thanks for your comments, cheers nige👍
Good footage Nige of this rare working
Thanks Austin, can’t say I’ve ever come across a working like this one before, cheers 👍
Definitely something that you don’t see every day!! (…watching the sheep fly in all directions, it should be called “The Sheep Flyer”!). Nicely captured!!
Thanks John, yes it was a bit of a rarity and the sheep never seem to get used to steam engines, cheers 👍
Overkill!😝😝😝
Most definitely, thanks for watching, cheers 👍
Tender first moves are not rare if for operational reasons. They could’ve gone to Shipley to turn on the triangle. But Keighley to Carnforth is a straight forward run on a very quiet line so 45mph top speed won’t hold anything up.
Thanks for watching Jules, yes your right with it being on the quieter sections it wasn’t going to cause any problems, cheers 👍
Great video, but not sure why all three locos were in steam. Surely one of those Black Fives could've hauled the lot!
Thanks Adrian, yes one would have sufficed but maybe they were required to be in steam when back at Carnforth, cheers 👍
Very nice video Nige :)
Thanks Simon much appreciated, cheers 👍
Well what is the world coming to Nige? 2 x Black 5's hauling 2 coaches, and requiring a 5X 'banker'?
I jest of course, but well done for being there, to capture this fine LMS trio.👍
Thanks George, it was a very unusual and rare movement so thought it was worth catching even in the lousy weather and it didn’t disappoint, cheers nige👍
Yes it does seem like overkill, but a wee bit of steam to keep the cylinders warm and lubricated is a good thing. 🙂
Seems strange them going backwards
Too long for the turntable at Keighley, they would've needed to disconnect the tender's to turn the locos.
@@MasterMoyle cheers definitely a rare sight then
Thanks for watching David, and thanks for the reply from David Moyle explaining the reasons for the tender first move, cheers 👍
